A post worth reading.

Posted: Sep 8, 2012

I've reprised a portion of a post made earlier so that perhaps more will read it. I've slightly reformatted it for myself because I find long paragraphs harder on these tired old eyes recently.

Here it is:

As for what I care about:

* I care that it took over 350,000 Americans to drop out of the workforce in order for the unemployment rate to drop to 8.1%.

* I care that in 3 years this president has added more to our debt than any other president.

* I care that our president says he is going to save us money by taking the money from the wars and using it in other areas. The only problem with that is the money we used for the wars was borrowed money. Using borrowed money to pay for something else doesn't really save us money, now does it?

* I care that we are weakening our defenses.

* I care that this president has no business experience and so has no idea what it takes to help businesses. Without helping people expand, start or keep their businesses we are hurting our economic recovery.

* I care that we don't know where all that stimulus money went.

* I care that our government is getting too big and too involved in our everyday personal lives.

* I care that this administration seems content to enable those who could do for themselves but won't.

* I care that this administration undid the welfare reform done during the Clinton administration.

* I care that this president is spending our money to allow other countries to drill for oil but refuses to let us do so here.

* I care that this president is going to destroy the coal industry and crushing those Americans who depend on that for their income.

* I care that this president refused a pipeline that would have provided shovel ready jobs for many Americans.

...and to that I'll add: I care that this President has deliberately attempted to diminish the prestige and position of this nation in the eyes of the world because he does not and never has believed in America's unique place in the history of nations.

"sane" being the key word here. Once you've drunk the Kool-Aid, I think you're done for. Hate to drag out that old phrase but it fits.

any sane person can distinguish between opinion and fact - (love to drag out THAT old phrase)

Very good post. I find 10 facts, 1 half-fact, and only 1 opinion (the one about government getting too big and involved, which is an opinion I share). If you do some research it is not hard to verify the facts.

and that is a problem - : (

Romney's plan is to put more into the military than the military is even saying it needs. Obama, on the other hand, will use that money to pay down the deficits and create jobs.

practice our own debating skills and sharpen our focus on issues that need much exposure, now that the campaign is going into full swing. The art of debunk is becoming second nature. The more you do it, the easier it gets. I'm getting good enough to do it without Google, and can now hold my own in person-to-person face-offs with GOP echo chambers.

Welfare reform...sm - JTBB

The idea that Obama "took the work out of welfare" has been debunked so many times its ridiculous. If you don't believe me, ask Bill Clinton.

Or Mitt Romney, who signed onto the same policy - back in 2005. nm

to allow our schools, bridges, roads and airport runways to crumble out from under us, forego the jobs they would created, the short-term boost to the economy (though it does take a while to build these things) that would provide by broadening the tax base. Under Ryan's plan, we'll be waiting another 30 years for such projects. Wonder how much of our infrastructure will have collapsed by then and at what cost, in term of HUMAN LIVES?

Boy did you miss the point entirely! - sm

President Obama said he would save us money by using money we are borrowing for the war to use elsewhere. That doesn't save us money. We are still borrowing it no matter where it is being spent. I have no problem with getting our troops out of the Middle East. In fact, I'm all for it. Let them fight amongst themselves and leave us the heck out of it.

Why is it that the only jobs Obama seems to care about our union jobs? I'm sure it wouldn't have anything to do with unions giving him lots of money money money for his campaign. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours kinda deal. Too bad he doesn't have the same amount of interest in helping the private sector.

This was a great summation - Conservative

After Reading The Jesus Is Coming Post And Then Hare Krishna Mantra Post...Apr 21, 2010
I was wondering exactly what kind of "faith" board this is. The poster, Catherine, in the Jesus is Coming thread felt this was the "wrong forum" for posting one's religious beliefs while another posterior in that thread says that this "faith" board is meant to be all inclusive meaning persons of all faiths can post their beliefs here. I guess I wrongly assumed that the use of the word "faith" meant Christianity as it is my belief that Christianity is the only valid belief system worshiping ...

Is An Admin Assistant Course Worth It? Jun 30, 2016
I am considering taking an administrative assistant course. It costs almost $4000 and is supposed to touch upon office procedures, medical billing (not in depth), EMR, conflict resolution, among other useful subjects. This is cheaper than my community college and can be done at my own pace, within reason, from home. I need to get out of my almost min-wage MT job, but having been an MT for 25+ years, my non-MT skills are lacking. Completion of such a course seems to have multiple paths, in and ou ...

I've Been Reading Up On The Flat TaxApr 14, 2011
Flat tax won't work. If they would institute a flat tax, they would close loopholes we all take at tax time. This is why Malcolm Forbes running for President was all for the flat tax. " Following the 1986 tax reform, the average income tax paid by somebody in the $50,000-$75,000 bracket indeed went down, and I mean way down--$1,100. The total tax take for that bracket went up $7.6 billion because there were many more taxpayers in that range in 1987. Fact is, taxes for virtually all tax bra ...

Obviously a lot of us love to read! My question for everyone is do you keep a list of the books you have read? I started doing this about 2 years ago because one of my kids came home from school saying that in class that day the teacher was talking about reading and said that she had heard a statistic that the average person reads 300 books in their lifetime. Knowing me, my son heartily disagreed with that statement and said I probably read 300 books each year. T ...
