CBO says Obamacare will cost 2 million jobs' worth of

Posted: Dec 10, 2015

Yes, that's right.  Enough hours will be lost to equal 2 million jobs.

The further we get with implementing Obamacare, the clearer it becomes that it's a total bust, with exchanges failing, costs going through the roof -  and now this from the CBO, not some right-wing nutjob.

It's unlikely that there are many conservatives who are surprised.  In fact, it's all going down exactly as we predicted.   Even so, it never fails to stun liberals when the magic gubmint-gimme well runs dry, as it always must do with their grand goofy schemes.

Baby boomers choosing to leave workforce - Grandma

[ In Reply To ..]
I plan to leave the workforce when I am 62 and not 65. Considerations? Medicare kicks in at 65 and if it were not for the ACA, I would not be able to afford to quit until 65. Because since I can find an affordable policy, I can quit at 62, when I am SS eligible.

Win, win! MT work has made me too physically decrepit to work much past 62, and the youngsters who may need my job can have it!

6 months til I am 62. I am a veteran, so I can't get ACA, but will go to the VA until I'm 65. The youngsters can have at it! Cheers and good luck to us all!

Me too! I'm 66, lost my job & unemployed. - O-care + Medicaid kept me afloat - sm

until I can get on Medicare and receive my SS payments, which will be next month! I can't wait to finally have a steady, reliable income once again.

Jobs will not be lost but people will choose to work less because they don't have to worry about losing their health insurance. The ultimate answer is to elect Bernie Sanders and progress toward single-payer healthcare for all, no deductibles, no copays, no huge premiums.

Repubs: Glass half empty, crying wolf, as per usual.

317 Million Reasons To Love ObamacareApr 01, 2014
"More than 6 million Americans signed up for Obamacare before the March 31 deadline to get private health insurance through the Affordable Care Act exchanges. This is great news for the Obama administration. But there are millions more reasons to celebrate Obamacare. Actually, at the writing of this essay, there are more than 317 million reasons — because that's the population of the United States of America and every single one of us can benefit from health care reform. How? H ...

Hello ObamaCare/bye-bye JobsFeb 10, 2011
Testifying today before the House Budget Committee, Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Director Doug Elmendorf confirmed that Obamacare is expected to reduce the number of jobs in the labor market by an estimated 800,000. Here are excerpts from the exchange: Chairman [Paul] Ryan: “[I]t’s been argued...that the new health care law will create jobs and increase labor force participation. 6.5 Million Taxpayers Paid $3 Billion In Obamacare PenaltiesMar 29, 2017
Approximately 6.5 million taxpayers paid $3 billion in Obamacare penalties for not having health insurance in 2016, according to preliminary data from the Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen. Beginning in 2014, the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate required that Americans purchase health care coverage or pay a penalty to the Internal Revenue Service. While the number of taxpayers paying the penalty has declined since 2014, the total amount in penalties paid to th ...

State Jobs To Be Created By Obamacare?Jan 14, 2013
A friend of mine, who used to be a low-level manager for a big hospital system, talked with someone recently who expected that our state (and presumably others) would have to hire a lot of people for jobs related to admin/support of Obamacare.  Does anyone have a CLUE what education/qualifications might be relevant?  I'm vaguely thinking coding/billing might be part of the mix, but mostly I'm just totally drawing a blank.  Accounting?  IT?  Anyone feel like yo ...

January 8, 2015:  As the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear a case that could prove to be a fatal blow against the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, a new study has concluded that the consequences of striking down the law's subsidies for low- and middle-income individuals will result in a sharp drop in the number of Americans with health insurance, as well as a steep rise in premiums.  Link:  http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-01-08/study- ...

Obamacare Meltdown Has Arrived. Tennessee Is Ground Zero For Obamacare'sOct 07, 2016
last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said. Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...

Is An Admin Assistant Course Worth It? Jun 30, 2016
I am considering taking an administrative assistant course. It costs almost $4000 and is supposed to touch upon office procedures, medical billing (not in depth), EMR, conflict resolution, among other useful subjects. This is cheaper than my community college and can be done at my own pace, within reason, from home. I need to get out of my almost min-wage MT job, but having been an MT for 25+ years, my non-MT skills are lacking. Completion of such a course seems to have multiple paths, in and ou ...
