A maintenance worker found explosivs training materials on a Loudon

Authorities quickly determined the explosives material was left there after training last week conducted by a federal agency. “The explosive training material was in a benign state and could not be activated through normal operation of the bus,” Loudoun school officials said in a note emailed to parents. During the training exercise, the bus was parked at Briar Woods High School. It was placed back in service Monday and Tuesday to carry students back and forth from Rock Ridge High School, and Buffalo Trail and Pinebrook elementary schools. “This evening, [school] officials are attempting to contact parents of students who might have ridden the bus while the training material was on board,” school officials said. “Loudoun County Public Schools’ Safety and Security Office is in communication with the Sheriff’s Office and federal officials regarding this matter,” the note said.
