if you had the cojones to talk to parents and children in Sandy Hook this way, you might register a little bump on my respect meter. NOTHING in ANY of the gun control proposals trashes the constitution. There is nothing typical about the need to revisit gun laws in the wake of the mass murder of children.

my spring garden that used to have different plants blooming in sequence from the end of winter all the way through to summer is now a mess, with later plants blooming with early ones and getting killed by cold snaps, everything cut short by early hot weather. I've given up trying to have a flower garden in summer. A few patches of tough ones remain here and there, but most roses and many others are gone. Struggling plants are not beautiful.

I'm sad and sick thinking of it. I always thought my grandchildren would grow up with memories of my garden and maybe someday want one of their own. I'll make sure they have nice memories of my gardening anyway, but they'll be so much less than they should be.
