Cellophane man just pulled his own bill for

Kabuki theater, act 3.  No curtain calls for this hopelessly dysfunctional House gang.

Dysfunctional? That would be Obama, who works - with no one and is ruining the country ! nm

The GOP just imploded all over itself, pitched fits at each other - split apart, then took their marbles

and went home in the middle of a self-inflicted phony crisis that holds the potential to plunge the country into another recession. Boehner shot himself in the foot with his plan B. I have to wonder now if that senseless act was deliberate political suicide arising out his sheer frustration over the caliber of folks he has to deal with on a daily basis. Whatever. His prospects of resuming his speakership next session are TOAST, now that he has lost control of the party in such a public fashion and made a spectacle of that entire branch of our government.

You are deluded if you think this escaped the notice of 2014 voters on both sides of the aisle. There could be no clearer evidence of the destructive nature of the TP's arrival on the scene, and the immediate disintegration of the GOP....AS IF the recent election were not already proof enough.

Plan B? - That was Pelosi's plan.

[ In Reply To ..]
Didn't work for her either. Kudos to Boehner for proving that point.
Plan B was Boehner's own bill full of stuff the Pubs - would like for his caucus to vote on. A
[ In Reply To ..]
way of perhaps establishing a base of GOP agreement that could then be taken to the White House as a further step in negotiations. Last night they promised to reject this if brought to a vote.

The first plan, Plan A, BTW, was an agreement between Boehner and Obama that he didn't have the votes to get through the house.

And I so agree with everything Marbles said. Except I just hope, hope, hope the GOP is good and sick of the incompetent clowns too many have elected by the NEXT election. Just how much learning from sad experience do some people need?
Pelosi and Schumer did have dibs on Plan B first back in 2010 - backwards typist
[ In Reply To ..]
Schumer admitted it yesterday BUT now laughs at it and said it would never come to a vote.

So sad that everything the Dems bring up is okay and will definitely work, but when the GOP brings up almost the exact same thing, it's laughable and will never work.

Baloney! --and Obama NEVER has any plan - except raising taxes.... most incompetent leader.n

OP, to be fair, nobody really wants to take Boehner's place. - Too many in House don't understand economics,
[ In Reply To ..]
too many are reactionaries unreachable inside ideologic bubbles, and all understand that they could lose reelection next time over this vote. Sad fact is, some voters are as ignorant as they are reactionary and obstructionist, a very destructive combination for a republic.

Of course, there are other Congressmen who will take the speakership if they have a chance, but not enthusiastically. This is a very, very bad time to be the GOP Speaker.
I agree with your assessment about the speakership, - but do not think any of that
[ In Reply To ..]
phases Eric Cantor, who had a hard time containing his glee as betrayed by the ear-to-ear smile he flashed during his "no-no-no" interview on his way out the back door of the chambers, bound for holiday celebrations he implied may extend well beyond New Year's Day by his snappy "as needed" comeback. The smile was so protracted, I found myself able to count his teeth from prominent central incisors, clean back to the second molars where, alas, it was revealed his wisdom teeth were conspicuously absent.

No one would take greater pleasure in seeing an internal coup become a faint accompli where the tea party's minority GOP control becomes more pervasive and permanently entrenched than Cantor. IMO, there's not much standing in his way in that regard beyond the presence of John Boehner. In these situations, it is always useful to ask that "who stands to gain" question.
Well, yes, you must be right about Smiley Eric. What they need is - "The Hammer" Delay, aka the most feared
[ In Reply To ..]
man in Congress, but, of course, he had to resign because of felony money laundering and is still busy trying to overturn his convictions and avoid hard time. Maybe Eric armed with a Bushmaster could get control.
Ah, yes, the Hammer. Impossible to forget since after he - gerrymandered his district,
[ In Reply To ..]
I ended up trapped inside of it with him as my representative. A few years later, one of my criteria for a home purchase was to MAKE SURE I corrected that situation, and I promptly escaped that uncomfortable association.
Wrong. His spending cuts proposals and movement on tax rate ceiling levels - this week not only
[ In Reply To ..]
provided a lucrative opportunity to clench a deal, it also hacked off some in his base who view the election as a mandate to stand firm on the policies on which he campaigned and won. This reminds us of the reference President Obama made during his Wednesday press conference to the need for Boehner to find a way to take personal animosities against Obama out of the equation. In response, Boehner lurched as far away from the viable proposal as he could get, knowing full well he could not deliver a favorable outcome to this meager request.

The sort of anti-Obama rhetoric your post invokes is ineffective campaign strategy, as has been proven TWICE now, and expresses the very same sentiments that has led to the Congressional dysfunctionality that now threatens to bring the increasing momentum of our economic recovery to a screeching halt, and plunge it into negative territory by the end of the first quarter of 2013.

The unemployed, seniors, middle class and impoverished are not the only ones who will end up paying the price and suffering the consequences. Opposition to GOP intransigence in this regard has been manifested in the past two election cycles. What makes you think the backlash is not going to continue? If you cannot take these warnings from your political opponents, try listening to the outrage being expressed among the more moderate ranks of the party who have the sense to recognize their pending demise. The fits Joe Scarborough threw this morning are an excellent case in point.
No. The country is paying the price for reelecting - Obama.. unqualified.. weak leader.nm

Just what I was happy about the gas prices.

Funny how $3.00+ gas prices - are now something to be happy about.

[ In Reply To ..]
Since it used to be higher, $3.00/gal. seems like such a deal. Not.

You can thank Obama. He cannot seem to bring - anything or anyone together... divider ! nm

YOU can thank Obama when/if in 2013 he just gives - the old tax cut to everyone under $250K. (That

[ In Reply To ..]
would include you. The $250K would be the income ceiling. Tax cut would actually mean your tax rate would stay the same as this last year.)

22 Yrs Ago, Clintons Pulled A Kaepernick On Mother Teresa.Sep 05, 2016
Today, a football player’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem has garnered headline upon headline. Twenty-two years ago, a seated couple protested one of the world’s most beloved figures. In a truly iconic American scene that still captures the attention—and confusion—of the Washington elite, then-President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, sat in stunned silence amid a standing ovation that followed Mother Teresa’s address at the National Prayer Breakfast. Verizon BillFeb 25, 2011

Republicans Filibuster Their OWN Bill!Dec 06, 2012
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wanted to prove on Thursday that Democrats don’t have the votes to weaken Congress’ authority on the debt limit. Instead they called his bluff, and he ended up filibustering his own bill. The legislation, modeled on a proposal McConnell offered last year as a “last-choice option” to avert a U.S. debt default, would permit the president to unilaterally lift the debt ceiling unless Congress mustered a two-thirds majority to stop him.
