are there any mt companies that let you be part-time?

Posted: Sep 29, 2013

i begged my company to change my hours just a little bit, but they wouldn't (long story). i HAVE to reduce my hours because i find doing medical transcription 40 hours a week absolutely mind numbing. it's killing me. so, is there anyone who knows of any companies that will hire me part-time, like maybe 30 or 32 hours a week? if so, any chance they will let you work a broken schedule, like kind of pick your own hours? i'm willing to work saturday and sunday, but i don't want to work more than 6 hours a day. (i want to go back to school - maybe nursing school.) transcription is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRING! i'm afraid i'm going to start falling asleep doing reports and my reports will start looking like computer programs!

Apply to M*Modal or Accentus - Bonita

Both of these companies hire part-time no problem at all. They are so large they never have enought MTs. For sure you would get hired.

um...M2 just laid off pretty much all of their - part timers

around from work to unemployment back and forth constantly. I need steady income to pay rent on time, not this foolishness of out of work, file unemployment, contact caseworkers, provide proof of employment or lack of work, sit and wait for several weeks for processing papers and decision, then repeat whole mess in another week or so because of no work.

sending you an email.. nm - OHMT

Insurance Companies Do HEDIS This Time Of YearNov 20, 2015
If you are burned out on transcription and want to not sure what to do, this is the time of year when all of the insurance companies start hiring temps to do their annual HEDIS projects.  The projects last 5-6 months and pay well.  Call your local temp agencies and ask about them.  I went from transcriptionist to working on one HEDIS project in 2014, did odd jobs til the 2015 project started, was on unemployment for a few months for the first time in my life and then got hired on ...

Part-time EmploymentJul 03, 2010
Good morning, please pray for wisdom and direction AND an opportunity for a part-time work from home job.  I am a single mother of four children.  I work full-time for the state, however my income does not cover my monthly expenses.  My ex-husband died three years ago.  Social Security goes by what you put in and he could never hold a job for very long...consequently what my two youngest children receive helps some but not enough.  Money has always been tight and I just ...

Insurance Companies At It Again! Feb 12, 2010
Dear MoveOn member, Blue Cross has just announced that it's immediately raising premiums charged to hundreds of thousands of individual customers by as much as 39%—even though their parent company's profits soared to a record $4.7 billion last year.1 Even worse, the insurer has so far refused to explain why they're increasing their rates, and warned that they might do so again this year without warning. The Obama administration is demanding answers from Anthem Blue Cross, ...

Companies To Work For As CNA - SmJul 11, 2014
I seem to recall someone posting the name of a company recently that had an great rep to work for as a CNA.  I looked them up at that time (couple months ago?) but they did not have any openings at that time.  Unfortunately I do not think I saved the name.   I recently completed a course and my state certification and now looking for a job.  Anyone remember the name or the place or have any suggestions.  VA beach, Norfolk, Williamsburg, Richmond  ...

First Time Ever (long-time Voter) Had This ProblemFeb 16, 2016
Every one of them has serious flaws, either of character, personality, world view, experience, or philosophy - and in most cases more than one of these - that I simply cannot stomach. In my experience, it's always a choice between the lesser of two evils, but this election cycle seems to have brought out a spectacularly miserable collection of candidates.  And yes, Sanders and Trump supporters, I mean them too - or perhaps especially them too. It looks like I'll be sitting on my ...

On Line Diet CompaniesJul 29, 2010
I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried the on line diet places where you purchase food, like NutriSystems, EDiets, etc., and actually lost weight.  Mostly I am considering it because of having to work 18 hours a day to barely make my mortgage each month, I do not really have time to cook a nutritious meal, and my body is suffering.  I was wondering if the food was any good, and if someone actually did lose weight.  I was wondering if the cost of the food was worth not havin ...

On Obamacare Insurance Companies Pulling OutJun 22, 2017
Obamacare allows people to wait until they get sick to sign up. That's no different than waiting until my house burns down to sign up for homeowners insurance or waiting until I wreck my car to get car insurance.I understand that there are a lot of people who don't own a house or a car and maybe are unfamiliar with how insurance works.  It is "insurance" which means insuring against what might happen. Allowing people to wait until they are sick means the insurance company is basic ...

If Trump Really Does Put Tariffs On Companies With Overseas OperationsNov 11, 2016
It sounds like he is referring to manufacturing.  No idea if it refers to transcription.  Or to call centers.  Or Amazon outsourcing its customer service to Costa Rica. I Was Listening To CSPAN This Morning And Bernie Sanders Was Speaking About The Oil CompaniesJun 09, 2010
I tried writing down what he said (wish I still knew my shorthand), but could only get a few items. My curiosity aroused, I started to do a little research. Bernie stated in a 10 year period, the oil and gas companies posted a combined profit of $750 Billion. The entire industry only invested $1.5 billion in non-fossil fuel products. He also gave ALL the compensation packages for the CEOs, which I could not write fast enough, but will find them, but Occidential Petroleum's CEO received $75 ...

ACA Requiring Companies To Provide Insurance To Workers Of 30 Hours Or More Per Week.Jan 14, 2014
I just learned that under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) companies with greater than 50 employees are required to offer insurance to all employees who work an average of 30 or greater hours per week.  My company offers us insurance but you have to meet a production requirement consistently in order to qualify for this, and I know a lot of MTs struggle with this production requirement and therefore even if they work 35-plus hours per week they may not make the production requirement to earn a ...
