What are the simple things that make you happy

Posted: Oct 21, 2013

Okay, first my name is not Sue, but thought it had a nice ring.  LOL

What are the simple thinkgs in life that make you happy.  I was thinking of this the other day actually when I was brushing my teeth and I was so happy cos I found a great toothbrush (I hope it never wears out LOL).

Here's what makes me happy:

1.  A really nice toothbrush that feels so good to brush - Mine is from the dental hygeinist brand is GUM. It is so so soft.

2  A really nice moisturizer that makes my face feel great.  I actually found one that is so creamy and silky, but not greasy.  It is by Ponds -$6. (been around for years and now I know why both my grandmothers used Ponds).  I will never be as beautiful as they were, but I love this cream and they have a great face cleanser too - not cold cream.

3.  A really nice hair color that after I used it my husband said - redhead.  I really like the color on you. :-)

4.  A great hairdresser.  After years and years of nightmare haircuts found one who did a fantastic job.  I have natural curls.  One hairstylist years ago told me I have the kind of curls people would die for.  Then she proceeding to hack the you know what out of my hair.  This lady gave me my curls back and it looks like I've had a perm.  Love it and it makes me not afraid to look in the mirror.

5.  Watching my cats play.  Cheap toys like balled up aluminum foil.  They love it.

6.  The smell of fresh cut grass.  DH cut the grass today and it smells wonderful.

7.  A nice warm piece of Apple Betty with oatmeal and brown sugar topping with a scoop of ice cream and cup of coffee.

8.  Snuggling up under a nice warm blanket watching a lighhearted comedy movie that makes me laugh.  Something like How to Lose A Guy in 10 days.  Just any movie that makes me laugh.

What are your favorite things that make you happy.

when I'm off during the day, I have the house cleaned up and I take a shower, wash my hair, put on my favorite PJs, change the sheets, and sit down under the blanket with my cats and with a cup of Lady Gray tea with half and half and honey and watch a good show on TV, usually the Hallmark Movie Channel. It just doesn't get any better than that.

I would love to have your Saturday! - nm

Lucky the Wondercat snuggling up with me in - bed while he suckles on his bear

[ In Reply To ..]
He's 6 years old now, but he's had this bear since he was a baby and he learned to suckle on it. He was taken away from his mother at 5 weeks of age by idiots, and I've had him since then. He doesn't do it as often as he used to, but he still does occasionally and it just makes me smile every single time.

I really love this post - and all of the responses

It's a nice change of pace to see a happy post and not another Negative Nellie. I like all these posts so far. I guess the best things in life really are free (or close to it). For me:

Break time, quittin time, days off.
Playing Frisbee with my dog.
Sleeping in on Sundays.
New season of my favorite shows.
Hot bath and clean sheets.
Mani/pedi.
100% QA and a bigger paycheck.
Coupons!
Shopping and lunch with girlfriends (at least window shopping, that's free).
Road trips and jammin out to music.
Watching a movie with the hubby curled up under a blanket.
A full night sleep.
Earl Grey tea and my heating pad on a cold night.
Seeing my hubby smile while he's playing with the dog.
My dog's tail wagging whenever I talk to her (so cute).
Laughing until my stomach hurts.
Wine night.
Christmas with the families.
Getting to spoil my Godchildren w/o doing any of the work (no children myself).
Fresh laundry out of the dryer.
New perfume.
Remembering all the words to a song that I haven't heard in years.
Good hair day.
Hot cocoa and flannel jammies.
Barefeet on the grass in summer.
Fall colors.
(I'm sure I'll think of alot more after I post this too).

I'll have to refer back to this list whenever I have a bad day.

I'm glad everyone liked the post - Simpleton Sue

I needed something upbeat to read for a change. I have detoxed myself from the political board. Won't go there anymore. I actually did go there yesterday and read just a couple posts and started getting an instant headache LOL, so that negativity is out of my life for plain ol "simple" health reasons.

This board has had a lot of negativity too so I'm glad I could write a post that everyone enjoyed. I just wanted to know what makes other people happy too. Loved reading all the responses.

Aren't the most simple things in life the best :-)

Silly Little Things That Make You HappySep 07, 2010
Sometimes the silliest, trivial little things make me smile. This morning, it's knowing that my daughter (just turned 21 on Saturday) is safe and secure at the camp at which she is working through the fall, enjoying her first job and finding her way in the world.  It's also looking over at my handsome hubby, sound asleep on the couch, remote in hand, looking completely at peace with our 2 little dogs next to him, one by his feet and the other by his side.  For some reason, ...

Simple Solution For Conservatives.Oct 14, 2009
If you are unhappy with the current administration, start volunteering your time, put your money where your mouth is, and get more conservatives out to vote in future elections.  If your candidates have the majority of votes, you will get the change you seek.  If your candidates do not have the majority of votes, then you are obliged to abide by the laws set forth by those elected to office by the majority.  That is how democracy works. HAPPY DAY!Mar 27, 2011
I love to cook!  Always have.  Since I was young I have collected family recipes, changed them around (or not) and have honed my skills to the point where I have earned the title of "family cook".  I can do it all!  I even make homemade cakes and decorate them for family gatherings.  I have index cards, ringed binders and tons and tons of recipes on random pieces of paper put away in boxes.
