Promised Dinah Shore Chocolate Cake For B'day--Need Recipe--Fast--TX-NM

Is this the one? fudge cake?

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup flour PLUS ("PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses)
2 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm water
1/3 cup oil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

PREPARATION:
Combine dry ingredients. Combine wet ingredients. Beat both together for 2 minutes. Place in a 9-inch greased pan. Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes or tested done.

Cool in pan 10 minutes on rack and invert cake to rack to cool completely.

Hi Ladies, I used to be able to find it easily via Google, but I swear the internet's been wiped clean. It's very definitely a chocolate cake with a chocolate frosting recipe.

I wandered around about.com this week and Busy Cooks was one of the places I looked with no luck--just coming up with Dinah Shore's name drew a blank. Go figure.

I'll go with what you both found. I'm sure it won't disappoint.

I remembered that it used baking squares, not dutch cocoa as well. I went ahead and bought dutch cocoa yesterda, lol.

The other recipe sounds positively delicious, but I think I'll save it for an experimental day.

DH does not like cakes with frosting. And since there is just the two of us I won't be making it soon. It's taken me 4 years to lose 35 pounds so I don't dare make it just for myself :-) But I am curious to know if it's as delicious as it looks.

Just made it for s friend's birthday on Sunday to RAVE reviews per usual...already being asked to make it again.

For the frosting, only used about 2C to 2.5C of powdered sugar. Used 1/4 less for the cake itself and it came out tasting just fine.

I have a really easy, quick recipe. It's sort of Sloppy Joes, but my own version. Brown chopped meat in a skillet. Add seasoned salt, onion powder, a hint of garlic powder, and black pepper and stir around. Throw in some chunks of Velveeta cheese and stir until cheese is melted all through. In the Chicago Area some bakeries made an atomic cake. It had various fillers of your choice including fudge, banana, strawberry, vanilla custard, etc. My family always had one of these cakes if there was a birthday. I am from Chicago and we used to be able to get atomic cakes. Tried a new whiskey fruitcake recipe, made a slight error by adding 2 cups of dried fruit instead of 1, so the cake came out really dry. Found a suggestion to poke holes in it with a skewer and pour whiskey over the cake so it would go into the cake; do this every day for a week. The texture is now good, but the taste--whoooo, baby! I just made the most scrumptious blueberry sour cream coffee cake. It was so moist and sweet, but not too sweet. DH told me it tasted like something we used to get in Germany.
