Favorite pie or cake?

Venetian Wine Cake - sm

I had it once at a little coffee house, and I instantly knew this was the best cake I'd ever tasted. It's made with wine, lemon, and rosemary, and the original recipe was developed by a woman named Rozanne Gold. I have searched and searched, but I've only come up with recipes that didn't quite hit the mark. It turns out that, although Ms. Gold has put out several cookbooks, this is the one recipe she never gives out.

If someone can come up with a recipe that does her cake justice, please post!

A couple of weeks later, I called the woman to ask if she had any of that cake made, and she said no. When I asked her when she thought she might be making it again, she said she was never making it again. She also refused to give me the recipe. It was so strange that I thought maybe she used someone else's recipe and got into trouble? A couple of years later, the coffee shop closed. In any case, the search for the recipe continues.

There is a winery in Ohio (Wyandotte Winery) that makes a Venetian Wine Cake, but it's extremely expensive to have it shipped so I have not tried it yet.

Turtle Pie is like going to heaven. Pecans, caramel, whipped cream, some kind of chocolate, not sure if it is pudding, and graham cracker or cookie crust. To die for.

In the Chicago Area some bakeries made an atomic cake. It had various fillers of your choice including fudge, banana, strawberry, vanilla custard, etc. My family always had one of these cakes if there was a birthday. I am from Chicago and we used to be able to get atomic cakes. They were filled with different kinds of fillings of your choice; i.e., fudge, banana, strawberry, custard, etc. However, I now live in Florida (St. Petersburg area) and can't find any bakeries that makes these. Tried a new whiskey fruitcake recipe, made a slight error by adding 2 cups of dried fruit instead of 1, so the cake came out really dry. Found a suggestion to poke holes in it with a skewer and pour whiskey over the cake so it would go into the cake; do this every day for a week. The texture is now good, but the taste--whoooo, baby! When I was a child, mom had this iron-thing that you would dip into a sweet pancake type batter and put it in hot grease. Once done, off would come the crispy thing in different shapes-butterflies, etc. Then she would dip them in confectioner's sugar. Does anyone know what this is called and can you still buy them? Our oven is broke and I don't have a toaster oven. The only thing I have is a slow cooker, foreman grill and waffle maker (the latter two of course will not work). Okay, just made a lemon bread. It is moist but not as lemony as I would like. Safeway makes a good lemony cake (or bread) thing. So moist and lemony and I'd like to make something similar. I just made the most scrumptious blueberry sour cream coffee cake. It was so moist and sweet, but not too sweet. DH told me it tasted like something we used to get in Germany. So I wanted to pass on the recipe if anyone is interested. I can't wait til later to have another piece.
