When a person gets a dog, do they really need to take the dog to obedience classes or whatever? And how many people have done this or would do this?
I was just wondering about this because I personally have never done this and I have owned dogs my whole life. I've never really had any problems with my dogs. Sure there were a couple of honery dogs, but nothing I couldn't handle on my own. Of course when I was a kid there were no leash laws and dogs roamed the neighborhoods freely. But then again your neighbors didn't call the cops on your dog at every turn either. Neighbors back then talked face to face and settle differences that way.
I just wonder if this cry for obedience classes aren't a product of our sue happy society.
Not that I am against obedience classes. I think they are fine, but who can afford that added cost. At Pet Smart classes range from $100 on up. It's just silly. What did people do before obedience classes and pet smart? They trained their dog themselves.
