Credit cards & lending money to the people

Posted: Sep 16, 2010

Does it bother you at all if they say they cannot pay anything back yet when they seem to be running out spending money left and right on random stuff while that interest on that card starts going up. You know it will get to you at some point you just do not know how long it will take and then it bothers you that after so much time these cards were paid off and now there is a balance on them, however it was a choice said card holder made and I just think said person is feeling odd about having anything on there and it taking who knows long to get it back off.

One small issue is when something was misunderstood and more costs where added and there has already been one delay that was asked of course, and not like there needs to be a crazy rush as it does not hold up anything.

I wonder what the problem is then, it has no negative impact on anything if it takes a few months to take care of it.

Maybe I am just odd.

I keep getting the "I'm going to pay you back cuz" and "I've been doing some odd jobs here and there and expect a large payout and I'll send it to you" and "I'm going to sell some of my stuff here I don't use anymore and I'll send you the money". I told her oh that would be great because my car needs to go into the shop and I don't have the money, or I've got a doctors bill I have to pay off. I told her, just send me a steady amount each month and in no time it will be paid off (she still owes me over $1700). I helped her out when she was in desperate times and didn't want to see her evicted. That was 7 years ago. She still has her job and doing very well (we don't live close to her otherwise I'd be knocking on her door each payday). My aunt (her mother) has talked to her about her responsibilities to me and to pay me off before she goes out and "parties", and she's mad that anyone else knows I loaned her money. I'm so disgusted with her right now I can't tell you. As long as she feels good and is having a good time that's all that matters. I'm about to call her and tell her I'm disowning her as a cousin. I told her if she paid me a small amount each month it would have been paid off by now. I don't want to "p" her off though cos I'll never get my money back and $1700 is a lot of money. She's just a very emotionally unstable person and she should be on medications but she is not because she doesn't think she has a problem. I'm thinking how can she not know when within a 10 minute conversation she goes from being way over the top in excitement to near collapse then back way over the top. I can't talk to my aunt about it because I did once before and I was told "my daughter does not need medication or to see a doctor. There is nothing wrong with her. All I know is I want to be paid back and she needs to cut back on buying herself stuff so she can "feel good". So yes, I have a huge problem with this. No, you are not odd.

My Credit Card, His Credit Cards And The MoneyMay 10, 2014
I have a credit card that I had prior to marriage. My husband's name is not on it. I owe more than I should on the card and today my husband was asking about what if something should happen to me, would the credit card company be able to a) hold him responsible for my debt or b) put a lien against the home we both own for my debt. If anyone knows about this would love to have an answer. Thanks. ...

Check Your Credit CardsFeb 24, 2013
If you've gotten a new credit card recently, it may have an RFID chip embedded in it. It will have ))))) printed on it. I think Chase cards are using it, but others will follow. These cards can be scanned by anyone with a scanner and get your information. You can call the company and request a card without the chip, or buy an RFID protective sleeve or wallet (dirt cheap on Amazon). Big brother is watching us! ...

Guess Who Blocked The Paid For Small Business Lending BillJul 29, 2010
Wanna know why?  Because extension of expiring tax breaks for the rich (estate tax on amounts greater than $1 million) were not included, so they threw a hissy.  Every time Reid offered compromises on other amendments, GOP demands changed (sound familiar?).  Now lets see here, true colors shown on this would be anti-small business, anti-tax breaks for anyone who is not rich and anti-jobs creation.  Nice job.  Oh, lest we forget.  Their objections did ...

Greedy People With MoneyApr 08, 2013
Have you ever noticed that people with the most money are the most greedy with it and those who have little will give you the shirt off of their back?  I have been so frustrated with my family lately, the way they behave, I cannot understand it! The older people in my family have A LOT of money.  Some of this money is money they earned, they all made a good living, BUT a family member died and nobody even knew it, but he was a millionaire.  He never lived like a millionaire, he p ...

Christmas Gift Cards For Friend's Kids And Great Nieces And NephewsNov 01, 2010
These children range in ages from newborn to 10.  Money is tight, but I always try to send them something just for them.  But as time has passed their numbers have increased.  How much is too little?  I was thinking in the range of 15-20?  Any input - I don't want to be too cheap - or should I just send a "family giftcard" for all?  These children are two for each family I usually send to. ...

Bad Credit?Jun 22, 2011
Does anyone know of a good place to get an unsecured loan or credit card if you have poor to bad credit? With my job being cut beyond belief and my husbands overtime gone we are struggling a bit with bills. Things are getting paid, but not always on time. The biggest problem is one of our credit cards. We both have an account and both are 1-2 months behind in the payment they want. I have sent some money on the account, but not the full minimum amount due. The problem is when I do pay on these c ...

I Can Not Take Credit For Writing This But I AmJul 23, 2010
I know that it will be followed by another silly tit-for-tat argument instead of some real, honest, self reflection, I am sorry to say.    I find it sadly humorous that a certain official increased the national debt from 5 Trillion to 11 Trillion dollars in 8 years, more than any administration, basically bankrupting the Treasury and adding a tax burden of gigantic proportions to future American citizens. I find it sadly humorous that during the grounding of all aircraft just after S ...

USA Credit Rating DowngradeAug 08, 2011
In case you're unclear why the USA credit rating has been downgraded, Here's an understandable explanation of our problem!     To most of the people this is addressed to, you already know that the USA is in trouble and you understand the magnitude of the problem.  However, this breakdown is so simple that it’s worth sending onto those in our address books who may not yet been able to put in perspective, just what is really going on.  B ...

Fitch Already Put US Credit Rating Oct 15, 2013
Fitch is in the "Big 3" global credit rating agencies alongside Moody's and S&P, who all downgraded US credit rating the first time in history from AAA to AA+ the last time TPs took us to the brink.  It was only recently fully restored to AAA on July 13, 2013.  This came on the heels for calls by global financiers to De-Americanize the global economy.   Hey, all you TPs who own or are buying your homes or whose retirments savings and 401Ks are tied to the stock market. & ...

Excessive Credit Card Fee'sJan 23, 2015
I am going to be calling my credit card (used to be Care Credit, now is Synchrony bank).  I am just wondering what y'all think. Excessive credit card interest charges.  I get my statements, pay my bills, a couple times late if I don't get paid on time.  No where in the statement did I see anything that would lead me to realize they were going to charge me this, and I didn't realize they did it for 2 months (my fault for not reading the statement closer) My payment ...

Credit Card Reform May Shock SomeFeb 22, 2010
Eileen Aj Connelly, AP Personal Finance Writer, On Sunday February 21, 2010, 2:29 pm EST NEW YORK (AP) -- Your next credit card statement is going to contain an ugly truth: how much that card really costs to use. Now, thanks to a long-awaited law that goes into effect Monday, you'll know that if you pay the minimum on a $3,000 balance with a 14 percent interest rate, it could take you 10 years to pay off.
