ASR put "The next patient is ON MY KNEE".

Doc was actually dictating the patient's name.

What VR heard:  " Long-term care was discussed with Mr. So and so in the presence of his bowels" What was really said: "Long-term care was discussed with Mr. So and so in the presnce of his spouse"    Dictation was clear as a bell, no accent on the doc's part!  Yeah, the system is really "learing".  It's getting better and better every day... NOT!   haha! ...

Blooper :)Nov 14, 2011
Just had to post this "blooper" of one of my docs who was extremely tired! Thought it would bring a smile to someone's face who normally would just have been aggravated by it! Here's the quote...can you 'catch' it?... "She is approximately 4 weeks' postpartum. She is not pregnant." Hmm...ya think? LOL! I love my job and though there are sooo many MTs here that seem to hate the fact that God even gives them breath to wake up in the morning in order ...

Another SR BlooperJan 28, 2014
Was going along editing the dictation when out of the blue SR hears "the patient has been evaluated previously by a stray cat." Should have been,"the patient has been evaluated previously by a psychiatrist. I'd rather be evaluated by a stray cat on any day!! Being a cat lover, this instantly planted a visual in my head of a cat wearing specs, sitting behind a desk, with a writing pad jotting down notes, as I go on and on about how difficult my job has become...I wonder what it wou ...

Too Funny.... Another BlooperMay 14, 2013
Dictated: The patient has a history of painful periods since her teenage years, which was stable until she delivered an 11-year-old child. Now that is a good trick. Skip infancy and just deliver older children...   ...

This Has GOT To Be The Best Speech Wreck Blooper Yet.Mar 21, 2011
The speech wreck engine offered up "California." The dictator actually said "schizophrenia." Sometimes, truth can be found in the oddest places.... And I live in California, so I can say that! Discuss among yourselves; I have work to do. Yes, I have work.  :) ...

Kid Friendly RecipesJan 19, 2011
Do any of you have any fast and healthy "kid friendly" dinner recipes? My son has sports activities most week nights. I hate having to fix him a quick chicken patty sandwich on our way out the door but he's starving by the time we get home if he doesn't eat something prior. TIA!!! ...

Budget-Friendly And FASTFeb 29, 2012
Here are some of my survival dietary mainstays while drawing unemployment.  Maybe this will give you some ideas that you can use or tweak to your liking.    It all starts with a ROTISSERIE CHICKEN from the store (or cook your own!).  Fry's has just come out with a Colossal rotisserie chicken for only a few dollars more.  If you're health conscious, stores like Sunflower Market and Whole Foods sell a hormone- and antibiotic- version that is ...

Silly Girl - Kid Friendly Jan 26, 2011
Silly Girl - I was wondering if you tried your crockpot yet.  What did you make?  Did it save some time for you and your son?  I've never done it myself, but I know people who actually put the crockpot together the night before and stick in the frig until the morning when they go to work so they can cut some time in the morning.  I've even heard of people making breakfast (like oatmeal) by setting it up at night and then have breakfast ready in the morning.  ...

Sad Week - One Of Our Friendly Neighborhood Cats Is GoneAug 26, 2015
We live in a neighborhood and a lot of cats come and go through our yard.  For the past 4 years or so a neighbors cat has been a constant visitor.  During the cold winter nights she would come over and sleep in the boxes with blankets and an outdoor pet heating pad.  She also would eat here too when she was not at her own place.  Actually all of our neighbors take care of all of the cats so that none ever go hungry or don't have a place to get out of the cold.  So f ...

minimize holiday carb overload.  I was diagnosed with early type 2 at the end of July and so far have lost 35 pounds from my top weight which puts me at about the halfway mark toward end goal.  I count and record nutritional info (calories, fat, carbs, fiber, salt, cholesterol, sodium, sugars and protein) for every single bite I take and have adopted the snack-and-graze approach to balanced meal planning.  So far, this has helped stabilize the blood glucose and allowed t ...

Can Climate Science Be Rendered Conservative-Friendly?Aug 23, 2013
Proponents say messages could be framed to better appeal to basic instincts. As in, "Climate denier, climate denier, fly away home. Your house is on fire and your children all alone." But pointing out the very serious national security dangers surprisingly just made them angry and dismissive. We obviously have to try, but but I'm guessing many will still be dutifully protecting the Koch brothers' manufacturing plants when they're sitting in public shelters and the Koch brothers ...

Anybody Ever Pray For Patients?Apr 08, 2012
I do reports for a big hospital in the midwest and see a lot of cancer reports, anorexia, car accidents and sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed by it that I have to stop and pray for the people in the  report. I don't know if this helps them, but it makes me feel less depressed.  Anyone else do this?    ...

Medicare Patients...bringing This To The TopJan 06, 2010
In response to a post well below this..... http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2010/01/06/medicare_and_the_mayo_clinic/ Yes, fact is many places are not accepting Medicare patients and it will get worse. This is an opinion piece, but one cannot argue the FACT that Mayo Glendale has stopped accepting Medicare patients as have many other facilities and that the number will continue to grow with the passage of the reform. What will happen to our country's senior ...

Obamacare Funding Running Low For Patients Feb 16, 2013
Tens of thousands of Americans who cannot get health insurance because of preexisting medical problems will be blocked from a program designed to help them because funding is running low. Obama administration officials said Friday that the state-based “high-risk pools” set up under the 2010 health-care law will be closed to new applicants as soon as Saturday and no later than March 2, depending on the state. But they stressed that coverage for about 100,000 people who are now enrolled ...

Insulin Therapy Beneficial To Alzheimer's PatientsSep 13, 2011
Intranasal insulin therapy appears to provide some benefit for cognitive function in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer disease Funding for this study has been provided by the National Institute of Aging, the Nancy and Buster Alvord Endowment and the Department of Veterans Affairs. (the NIA is a division of the National Institute of Health, a government program, as is the DoVA). I wonder how many people realize that important studies like this are done by our F ...

Medicare Fines Hospitals For Too Many Re-Admitted PatientsOct 01, 2012
Is this how Obamacare is going to "pay for itself?" What about those complications that are not the hospital's fault? How are they going to rate which complications are due to hospital care and which are due to patient noncompliance? I would think this is a really tough decision to make. _______________ WASHINGTONIf you or an elderly relative have been hospitalized recently and noticed extra attention when the time came to be discharged, there's more to it than good customer service. ...

Raising The Medicare Eligibility Age Would Cost Patients About Twice As Much,Dec 06, 2012
"When economists and policymakers worry about the long-term fiscal crisis, what they’re mostly worried about is Medicare. That’s why a persistent idea during this fiscal cliff season is raising the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67. It’s an idea that appears superficially to have many virtues. Bringing the Medicare retirement age into line with the Social Security retirement age seems logical. The change is simple to describe to journalists and the public."  & ...

Doctors Required To Ask Patients About Their Sexual HistoryOct 15, 2013
It'll be a cold day in hell before I tell ovomit and his satanic HHS director Sebelius anything about my sex life.  Doctors are now required to document in the health record how many sexual partners a patient has had.  I go back and forth between saying "Oh, maybe 37,000" and "none of the F-ing government's business."  Ovomit has gone past the point of no return with his total intent on turning America into a socialist or even communist country. http://politix.topix.com ...
