Faith Board

Question, Please - see msg

Posted: Mar 29th, 2020 - 8:24 am

I have a serious question for people of strong faith. Help me understand.

I live in SW FL where there a lot of low-income people and homeless people. So far, our corona numbers are low in proportion to some other areas. As long as people do what they're supposed to do, we should be okay.

However, the highly religious people are gathering together and delivering food and other goods to the homeless camps and low-income housing communities.

These well-meaning people are NOT practicing safe distancing. The homeless certainly aren't practicing social distancing or good hygiene, and the low-income communites, by nature, are cramped.
I do believe they think God won't let anything bad happen to them, but not everybody believes in that vein. I am very concerned. It's fine if they choose to put themselves in danger, but they are also putting others in danger, by going to the grocery stores, for one thing.

My main issue is that the deliverers of food are giving to people who already get government assistance. They are not thinking about the hard-working service worker (tons of them down here) who just lost his or her job in the blink of an eye. They seem to only feel that "delivering to the masses of poor" is the way to serve. Why are they doing this and ignoring people who don't get public assistance? I asked them that on social media and I got some not very nice notes. Trust me, the poor down here get plenty of assistance. Free food, free hygiene products, etc.

I am doing my part by helping the servers. It's HUGE business down here. I am reaching out via the restaurants they used to work for. Many of them are young and have children. The relief check that is coming to all is a drop in the bucket for them.

Thank you. I don't need quotes from the Bible, though feel free. I need someone to explain to me why they are putting others in danger and why they are ignoring the truly needy who are getting nothing.
