Some of those homeless people - God Bless Posted: Mar 29th, 2020 - 4:44 pm In Reply to: From OP - Thank You
That you criticize now also “became poor overnight” due to losing their homes in natural disasters, fires, job loss just as we are seeing now, and other things beyond their control and were never able to recover. Believe it or not, a lot of people are not on the streets by choice, and those who have mortgages and car payments, have access to the same social services as everyone else. Yes, they probably need to be practicing better hygiene but they don’t have access to the same facilities as the rest of us. The people who are making the food deliveries probably need to be gloved and masked or keeping their distance, but at least they are helping, and being out in the fresh air is probably safer than cramming people into a shelter. We don’t know what is being delivered, either, perhaps it is hand sanitizer and soap in addition to food. I’m sorry all of this happened, but one person is not more deserving than another because they have a mortgage and a car. As I said, when this ends (and it will) people will be able to go back to work. A layoff does not mean permanent joblessness.
