You are making an assumption. I am concerned about a few things:
The well-meaning are NOT practicing social distance amongst themselves. They are gathering items and meeting up to feed the homeless who already have churches working in their favor. Somebody is doing all that shopping.
The food server who just lost his or her job and has kids and lives paycheck to paycheck, is in more dire need than those who collect disability, have food stamps, and get a lot of food, not only free, but delivered to them for free---for many, many years.
Do you know how long it takes to process for UE and finally receive a check? How about we prevent these workers from becoming homeless? Are we heck bent on making them become homeless. Those who lost their jobs out from under them are not "in the system," as are low-income who are in the system. Donating to a church isn't going to help them. The donations will go to those already receiving donations.
Sorry, I don't agree with your mind-set. I am not mean. The homeless and low-income people are MORE than well taken care of. Let's add the ones who just had their jobs snatched out from under them as well.
