Then 30 years later, after the man is arrested (woman?, not so often), for child molestation, while he has been a steward at the church and in charge of the children's program in the Sunday School, we can have the mass panic over the possibility of the 1000s of children he has abused.

Yeah, that is much better than someone admitting he has a liking, disturbing as it may be to the people with blinders, that he well knows is unacceptable. Sounds to me like he would like to change that abuse/arrest pattern and try to at least recognize the issue. But then, most conservatives believe in the death penalty don't they. Ahh, such forgiving Christians.

BTW---a whole lot of those people in the community have a preference for the same sex also, but they lead that dual (in the closet life) also.

is to hide these issues in the closet and not acknowledge them. It was really in answer to the "audacity" of Salon, the "liberal rag" to publish this letter.

I think the openness would be welcome. Of course, it always runs me into trouble to think that Christians would want to help people with their problems, and that if they could be open about them, perhaps the could receive this help, both medically and spiritually. Not that I blame them for keeping it bottled up and hidden, with the hate that they usually receive though.

I thought it was a pretty good article - a person brave enough and honest enough to admit they are attracted to children, but has no attention in acting on it. Isn't it usually better and healthier to bring stuff out into the open rather than deny it exists? Of course, sex with children could never be okay -- not an equal, consenting relationship.
