dick cheney heart transplant

Posted: Mar 24, 2012

Ahh . . . how the $$ talks.  How many people under 50 have to die waiting for a heart becoz 71-year-old evil-incarnate bought his way to the top of the list?  Disgusting.  He did not have it in him to say I've led a happy life, I will accept my fate.  No.  First he has to get cables hanging off his body to prevent his heart from stopping while he waits and deprives another human a chance at life.

How do you know he hasn't been on the list for years? He's not my favorite person in the world either, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have as much right to live as the next person.

talking about fairness and the humility to step aside for someone who has young children and a full life ahead of them instead of 5-6 years of declining health and eventual death. Here's the key difference - conservatives all about protecting their "rights" and their "money" and their "interests" while not giving a fig about anyone else's. So glad to be a progressive.

[ In Reply To ..]
As usual libs on this board have no idea what they are talking about. Not only has their hateful, spiteful nature been revealed towards anyone not in their "hate club" better known as progs, libs and Dems, their complete ignorance on the subject is astounding. You cannot just "step aside". These transplants have to be tissue matched on several levels. The donor and the recipient must be compatible on several levels, encompassing an extremeley detailed medical screening and process. From the time the organ is removed, there is a very limited time for the organ to be implanted into the recipient for it to be viable.

Thee progs/dems/libs are so disgustingly hateful, they have reached borderline psychotic thresholds. Where is all the "love", tolerance, live and let live, all for one and one for all...guess that only applies to those bearing a "D". Pretty sure if it was Maher on that table, progs/dems/libs would shoot anyone standing between that pig and a donor (and yes, I would support Maher getting a heart - he so desparately needs one). What a bunch of hypocritical Cry Baby Libs.

but the post below pretty much says it all. I guess I just have a hard time understanding all that hate. I tried to think about someone in the government that I really dislike (that was easy - Nancy Pelosi) and wondered if I could muster up enough hatred of her to be angry if she were to get a heart transplant. I couldn't do it. You're right - so much for the love, tolerance, and live and let live.

You are so hung up on your hate you have no idea what you are talking about. My brother had a transplant (as did 2 of my neighbors), and not one single one of them "bought" their way to the top of the list. None of them were rich, and still are not rich. Every single one of them had to go through a very exhausting medical screening process, be put on a waiting list, and were notified when they had a match that hit on several points of the medical screening with compatible medical backgrounds and tissue matches. I also had a very close friend that worked the Transplant Service Unit at Johns Hopkins (she retired because of a stroke). None of which you state here is fact; just complete total lies.

personal experience does not represent EVERYONE'S experience. Glad your people were LUCKY enough to be saved. There are THOUSANDS on the waiting list nationwide. Many if not most DIE before receiving a precious heart. They cannot afford and are not eligible for the sophisticated devices evil sneering Dick had. Gads, he even had a story on 60 minutes because of the rarity of the device he was wearing. So to say a 20-month wait for a transplant is 'typical' is cowpukky. Wait and see. I am sure the investigative journalists are already digging into the corruption involved with the monster moving to the top of the list.

than those spewing the hateful comments about VP Cheney. It is not at all unusual to wait 20 months for a transplant (my brother was lucky - waited about 3 months, if you can call it that because he had a very, very restrictive tissue match and very few in the country could accept the kidney that came up from the donor). If it were not for divulging the name of my friend that worked the transplant coordination at Johns Hopkins, I would do so. So what if he did a 60-minute interview. The device was/is rare and if it helped 1 other person, then it was worth it. Curious to know what you base your opinion on as fact that this was all "cowpukky" and people do not wait the time frames you think and that most die before receiving organs. The hate on this board that is directed to a few is so destructive to the haters; it must just eat them alive that every single person in the world does not live under their thumb. Wonder how many of these haters would withstand the scrutiny of their lives that they want to impart to those they hate with such passion. Pretty sad to be so consumed with such a a destructive emotion.

If this had been a politician on the left, I highly doubt you would have even thought twice about it. So let me ask you this...should he have not received the heart because he is a republican that you dislike or is it because he is older and you feel he is past the age to receive such a transplant because either way...your post is really disturbing.

There is a suggestion that the WDMs were moved to Syria through the help of a cousin..I believe. I'd have to look all that up again to remember the details. I wonder why Israel refuses to cooperate with inspection, considering they have WMDs, as well.

Oh, that's right. Israel is such a good "friend" that if they kill our soldiers (as they did in 1967) or spy on us (as they do), we thank them and kiss their bloody feet. While the rest of the world is beginning to hate Israel, we're still there and will probably get dragged into yet ANOTHER war.

This argument with Cheney was about whether or not Iraq had WMDs...not whether or not Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.

Only FIVE companies were euipped to handle the work, THREE put in bids and Haliburton was picked.

Why not scream about the MILLIONS in golden parachute money RAINES got? Why do not scream about the special deals CHRIS DODD got? Why to not scream about the HALF-BILLION SOLYNDRA got? Why do you not scream about the pork NANCY PELOSI'S family got? Why not scream about what CHICAGO CARBON EXCHANGE HAS DONE?

Oh wait, they all belong to the biased, self-serving, hypocritical, self-righteous, judgmental lefty party.

No you would rather deny a heart transplant to a person strictly because he has an "R" next to his name...nothing is more pathetic than that reasoning.

I just went down this entire post and have never seen the likes of such vitriol, hate and venom spewed with such abandon by the little old lefties. The first thought that crossed my mind is, I wonder how all the little old lefties would feel if their need for a heart transplant, hell any kind of medical care, was rendered to them in the same way they want to dish it out to Cheney? What kind of karma do they think they are going to get for free-will abortion of the most helpless of innocent life? They will protect a whale, dolfin, lizard, eagle, dog, dung beetle, but human life means absolutely nothing to the little old lefties, unless of course it is someone they want to kill like a Republican or a newly conceived child.

It is amazing to watch the little old lefties loose control of the last thread of coherency they appeared to have. Reading their posts are like rubbernecking at a train wreck.

There were reports by many, many countries regarding weapons of mass destruction outlined in the Congressional hearings. Yep - watched the whole thing on CSPAN. Would serve you well to turn it on since you are so clueless on so many topics. Hussein admitted to the weapons of mass destruction. Hussein had them deconstructed and buried in the sand. There was a weapons inspector that had listed serial numbers from these weapons. A free-lance reporter tried to get this info published several years ago, but liberals did everything but set this reporter on fire. Did not fit with their scenario of lying and discrediting others that had proof of the WMD. Liberals like those on this board are responsible for the loss of millions of innocent lives just through abortion promotion; should they all be denied medical care under the criteria by which you want to dish it out? Progs/libs should step off their commie soap boxes long enough to get counseling to help them grasp reality. Are you royally pissed off? Good...then my job here is done.

That is just another scare tactic for the uninformed. Such a shame we are such an uninformed country and getting dumber by the day. Which party wants to cut funding for education from the budget? The aim ...

BUSH/CHENEY **ARE** TO BLAME - DEAL WITH ITJan 28, 2010
EARTH TO BUSH DEFENDERS!!  Apparently people have incredibly short memories. When the BUSH/CHENEY war machine 'walked in the door' they did so with BLUEPRINTS of how they start wars that most definitely were manufactured - and they used this to enable them to dismantle the CONSTITUTION.  We won't even get started on what they did to enviromental issues, the economy etc., and the energy policy... Clinton was no saint.  But we stopped breathing easy th ...

Megyn Kelly Rips Cheney After His Op-edJun 19, 2014
FOX News’ Megyn Kelly had some tough questions for former Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday night, after he and his daughter, Liz, offered a scathing review of the Obama administration’s foreign policy.   “In your op-ed [in the Wall Street Journal], you write as follows: ‘Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many,” Kelly said on her show “The Kelly File.” “But time and time again, history has pro ...

Ryan Says His Role As Veep Would Be Like Cheney's Under Bush.Nov 04, 2012
November 3, 2012 Ryan, Quiet for Now, Is Said to Be Planning for an Active Role By TRIP GABRIEL   CINCINNATI — Representative Paul D. Ryan may have largely disappeared from the national spotlight down the campaign homestretch, ceding attention to Mitt Romney. But if the Republican ticket prevails, Mr. Ryan plans to come back roaring, establishing an activist vice presidency that he said would look like Dick Cheney’s under President George W. B ...

More Tea Party Shakeups: Dick Armey, TP Leader And Former House Majority Leader,Dec 08, 2012
in a reported disagreement over direction. Freedomworks, of course, is largely backed by the Koch brothers and others who seek an end run around our silly little one-man/one-vote system. This is a counterpoint to the resignation announced just days later, of course, of Senator Demint to run the Heritage Foundation--continuing the shakeups on the far right after their election losses. Officially, Armey disagrees with the "direction" of his organizaiton. Armey declined to specify his disagreement ...

Dick Armey Distributes Saul Alinky's "Rules For Radicals" To Tea Party LeadersMay 08, 2015
*Edited - I originally stated it was Dick Armey instead of William F. Buckley who called Saul Alinsky an organizational genius and that is inaccurate, my apologies. However, the rest of this post is accurate (according to the Wall St. Journal) Tea Partier, Dick Armey, distributes Alinksy's "Rules for Radicals" to Tea Party Leaders. Adam Brandon, a Tea Party protest organizer, also distributes the book to Tea Party leaders, and even created a shorter guide to distribute to the entire ...

Gay, Chicagoan Liberals Apologize Publically To Mr. And Mrs. Bush (and Cheney!)Nov 16, 2009
http://hillbuzz.org/2009/11/10/thank-you-former-president-george-w-bush-and-former-first-lady-laura-bush/ Excerpt: If you have been reading us for any length of time, you know that we used to make fun of “Dubya” nearly every day…parroting the same comedic bits we heard in our Democrat circles, where Bush is still, to this day, lampooned as a chimp, a bumbling idiot, and a poor, clumsy public speaker.   Oh, how we RAILED against Bush in 2000…and how we RAILED ag ...

Cheney Opens Himself To Subpoena Regarding 9/11, Iraq, Torture And Valerie PlameMay 11, 2013
Indeed; enough of the hypocrisy.   Game Change: Cheney Opens Himself to Subpoena Regarding 9/11, Iraq, Torture and Valerie Plame Posted: 05/10/2013 8:31 am When a former member of the Executive calls for Congress to subpoena another former member of the Executive, it is a game-changer. No longer can he rely on "Executive Privilege" to block his own testimony. Former Vice President Dick Cheney has suggested that the GOP subpoena former Secretary of State Hilla ...

Fearing Cheney's Wrath, Bush Officials Quietly Hail ObamaJan 05, 2010
By Daniel TencerMonday, January 4th, 2010 -- 2:40 pm Half a dozen former Bush administration anti-terrorism officials have told the New York Times that they support President Barack Obama's approach to fighting terrorists, but won't go on the record for political reasons. Heart MurmurJun 08, 2011
After chemo for breast CA I developed a heart murmur which was one of the side effects you might get from the chemo drug (adriamycin).  Now 10 years after the chemo they want me to get an echocardiogram to check the status. (mind you after my last chemo session on the fu exam they found the murmur)  Right now I am wavering between scared and frustrated.  I have an appointment the end of the month for this - but what if there is really something more the matter. Just look ...

A Breaking HeartJun 11, 2013
My stepfather and I lost our beloved Tiny, a Chihuahua/Terrier mix on Sunday.  She was diagnosed with Cushing's about three years ago, and since then has had a few bouts of severe pancreatitis where we thought we would lose her.  Saturday evening she could not keep her supper down after about 1 1/2 hours, then Sunday morning he gave her a soft boiled egg, which she again lost about 1 hour later.  When he arrived home from church she vomited a small amount again. We  too ...

This Is Breaking My HeartJan 08, 2014
Background:  My darling son had a brain tumor when he was 3 and had surgery to have it removed.  It grew back twice and he had two subsequent surgeries.  Although he is very bright and functional and on a day to day basis you'd never guess he had this, it did affect his learning ability somewhat.  He had to go to a sort of alternative high school but did get a diploma.  Then he wanted to try college so we let him.  He passed one course.  He has worked at s ...
