Why I Want My Medicare Left Alone

I don't know if any of you do this, but every time I forget something, like part of the alphabet or my phone number, I am terrified that I have the beginnings of Alzheimer's Disease. It just happened again a few minutes ago. I was trying to file something alphabetically and momentarily forgot my ABC's or my OPR's in this case. I have no doubt that I can take care of myself right now while I'm in great health, but what if...

[ In Reply To ..]I think the Republicans are trying to split the electorate along age demographic lines. They figure the 55+ age group will not be so mad to vote them out because they are "getting theirs". Those younger than 45 have yet to face the reality of saving for retirement. That leaves the 45 to 55 year olds as being the ones to be very angry. At my age (almost 55) I should find a better paying job to save more, but realistically, it would be very hard for me to find a suitable job that pays well enough to make up the difference for losing Medicare. I have multiple physical problems now that have made working from home the best option for me. Going back to school at this age really is not economically feasible anymore.
Last I heard from Republicans on this was 'Never Mind, Our Bad' - Shhhh!

[ In Reply To ..]Me too. I take Ambien, and I blame it on that, but I still worry. Another problem: I can't get off Ambien. I live alone and am terrified at night. Going to sleep with a sleeping pill allows me to bypass the scariness. I'm in my 60s and am still afraid of things that go bump in the night.

[ In Reply To ..]Even with a security system turned on, my imagination goes crazy when I hear noises, like the branches of a tree scratching against the door, or even a bird thumping on the window. I had the locks changed (not too expensive) to the kind that are harder or at least take longer for an intruder to break down. While I think that was smart, it still doesn't keep me from jumping when I hear a noise. It's just the world we live in. When I was little we didn't bother to lock the doors in our house.
