Veterans group wants Bill O'Reilly off the air

O'Reilly insists he never claimed to have actually traveled to the Falklands. He also said his description of Buenos Aires as a “war zone” was accurate: “All you have to do is get the video from CBS about what happened the night that they surrendered. The Argentinians, in Buenos Aires – it certainly was a war zone where bullets were being shot people were going down,” he told the Daily Mail.

“It was combat of the closest quarters. There’s no question about it. I filed two reports it led the [Dan] Rather broadcast video, and then I filed later on and I got an internal memo from CBS commending me on my coverage. When bullets are shot it’s combat. That’s what happened.”

Being a veteran who has seen actual combat, that is about the stupidest thing I believe I have ever heard on the subject of combat, but the issue is actually moot, in my opinion, since Bill O’Reilly has an extremely long, documented history of lying on a very, very consistent basis. I am not a fan of Bill O'Reilly.

I hate it when he won't let the person speaking finish his sentence or opinion before he chimes in to tell them they are wrong.

I have no idea what his books are like, but I don't care if Fox takes him off the air soon.

Check out this link...that is, if you really want some truth...it breaks down Franken's quotes/questions and the answers. It will take a few paragraphs down before you get to the nitty gritty of the truth, but worth it.

Emmy awards are not indicative of truth; they are given for excellence in television. The fact is that O'Lielly was a lying liar when he said he had won 2 Peabody Awards. He says he "misspoke" about winning the Peabody Awards and actually confused Peabody Awards with Polk Awards. Regardless of that, O'Reilly didn't win 2 Polk Awards either. He has won ZERO Polk awards.

Not exactly true statements in the least. Reading the entire story that you actually posted at the link above -- http://lyingliar.com/?p=18 -- it actually makes the point that the Polk Awards were won by Matt Meagher and Tim Peek who each got one for their work in an undercover investigation of insurance fraud. The piece by Meagher and Peek was called "Door to Door Insurance," and it aired on Inside Edition in February 1996 more than a year after Bill-O left the show. It was a piece about predatory insurance companies who took advantage of poor and elderly residents of Arkansas, which O'Reilly had absolutely nothing at all to do with the story.

The other statement is libel. The fact is that David Corn didn't secretly tape the Mitt Romney speech made in May 2012 in Boca Raton, Florida; the event bartender did it, Scott Prouty. A clip of Prouty's video was found online by James E. Carter IV, grandson of former president Jimmy Carter, who managed to trace the source of the tape and obtain a full copy from the bartender and then gave the full video to Mother Jones. David Corn merely reviewed the video and wrote the piece published by Mother Jones. It is true that he did win a Polk Award for his reporting for the piece.

Truth matters.

I see Bill-O has decided to lie further by saying: "In addition ... Corn actually wrote that I hammered Brian Williams ... when everyone knows ... I went out of my way on Kimmell and the Factor ... to be compassionate to the man. Corn must think the folks ... are as dumb ... as he is."

More like Corn and "the folks" know that a person is easily capable of hammering away at someone even though they also show a smidge of compassion and that the two actions are not mutually exclusive of each other. (see link below)

BTW, O'Reilly said this in the same article/monologue:

"Now on a personal note some of you have criticized me for not condemning Brian Williams. Here is what I said on Jimmy Kimmel Monday night.

Anybody who is enjoying the destruction of this man, you've got to look at yourself here. And there's a lot of people saying they'd be real happy that his career is going down the drain. That disturbs me.

He embellished a story. Now, again, if it's just one time, he will get by. But if it's a pattern of this, it's going to be hard for him to come back and be the main anchor on NBC."

This is not "hammering" Brian Williams. It was the truth and further investigation BY NBC has made it almost impossible for Brian Williams to come back. That's a shame because I really liked him but it hurts honest journalists.

Fox News and Bill O'Reilly are getting a taste of the medicine they dish out daily, and just look at them getting all defensive and playing victim. Poor Bill-O is on the attack; it is the conservative way to resort to name calling and playing a helpless victim of the liberal "meanies." Too funny.

O'Reilly's bragging about being in combat will now surface because of his tirade last night. They dish out this crap daily towards the POTUS and parse his every word and analyze his every move. Nice to see them get a taste of their own putrid treatment right back at them.

I just watched a TV documentary about new war veterans coming back from Iraq. They say that every day at least 28 veterans are committing suicide. This is truly shocking news. I am wondering if their statistics are really accurate. They say that only 33% are approved to receive PTSD benefits. There is not enough money in their budget to approve all the claims.
