“Brian Williams made a mistake. He has apologized and I accept his apology,” Paul Rieckhoff, CEO and founder of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), wrote in a Facebook post.

He touted Williams’ years of work on behalf of veterans across a gamut of initiatives as a reason people should move on.

“Persecuting him over this mistake will do little to help our veterans and service members. I am confident that in years ahead, Brian will continue to dedicate himself to our vets — as he always has — and inspire others to do the same,” according to Reickhoff.

journalist whom the public, right or wrong, looks to for some semblance of truth. So when he tells blatant, bald-faced, SENSATIONAL lies to sell his story it is a BIG DEAL!

Comparing BW "tall tales" to Chris Kyle's "tall tales" is absurd. Even if Chris Kyle lied in his memoire on some level, no one has to buy his book or see the movie. But when BW is on the evening news talking about his helicopter being attacked in Iraq or about dead bodies floating by his "five-star hotel in the French Quarter" after Katrina, people think it is news, the truth.

Shouldn't someone at NBC being fact checking his stories anyway or does he get a pass for being Brian Williams?

He is a millionaire and he often speaks for millionaires.

Every chance he gets he talks about how Social Security needs the age raised and rich people should get MORE than working class people when they retire. Not pay more into it as they go (which would be fair if they want more when they retire), but get PAID MORE in retirement from Social Security (even though they can afford to fund their own retirement).

Hard to say what he is trying to say here - is he for means testing or increased contributions from higher incomes? No, I guess he's just for retiring young because he can afford and making the rest of us working stiffs work until we're 70.

I love when they talk about bankrupting future generations because of something like Social Security (which is solvent and we contribute to - it is our money) - yet no mention of offshore tax havens, corporate subsidies, and other ways money is taken away from this country and the govt.

Nah, talk about rich elitist - the right paints him as a liberal, the left reveres him for the most part, but I do not trust him and do NOT think he is very bright, much less should he be judging others in the field when he spends his time shooting pheasants in South Dakota. Or something.

I don't trust ANY American news source. It's - all intended to keep us in the dark.

everyone thinks this American Sniper garbage is just wonderful, even if the guy lied a plenty. Jessie Ventura even sued him for some of his exaggerations. Are the veterans upset at their good character being defamed by one of their own, one that is being heralded as a wonderboy for killing Muslims. My argument was you cannot compare the lies of Chris Kyle to the lies of Brian Williams. I don't have any preconceived notion about Chris Kyle's integrity. I do, however, assume that those journalists who tout freedom of the press and claim to bring us an unbiased account of the news, are telling the truth to some degree. I'm not a fool. I know each network slants the news to suit them, but the core story should always be true. There is absolute no truth whatsoever to some of Brian Williams' "stories."

Didn't Jesse Ventura lie about his military career? Men tend to stretch the truth to make themselves feel more like Rambo.

I just watched a TV documentary about new war veterans coming back from Iraq. They say that every day at least 28 veterans are committing suicide. This is truly shocking news. I am wondering if their statistics are really accurate. They say that only 33% are approved to receive PTSD benefits. There is not enough money in their budget to approve all the claims.
