Stephen Miller, communications director for Senator Jeff Sessions, just posted this.  It gives some insight into what happened regarding the Veterans Job Bill...........

I write to clear up some confusion regarding the Veterans Job Corps bill sponsored by U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.

Republicans did not filibuster the bill or vote against it. In fact, the GOP introduced a similar bill that was fully funded, while the Murray bill violated congressional spending limits. Among those voicing concern about Murray's proposal -- which was never reviewed by the Senate Veterans Committee -- was the group Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Democratic budget chairman confirmed that Murray's bill violated spending limits. Sen. Jeff Sessions and his colleagues simply voted to fix the bill (known as a "point of order"). But instead of fixing the bill, Majority Leader Harry Reid shut down the Senate and left town through November.

Pete Hegseth, head of Concerned Veterans for America, laid out some additional concerns about Murray's bill: "Like Carter's 1977 HIRE Act, these government-led efforts to spark veterans' hiring are falling far short of their intentions; it will be a good deal tougher than creating yet another happy-sounding government initiative that promises, and then fails, to bring down the jobless rate for veterans." Hegseth adds that we need "a pro-growth economic agenda."

Sessions is committed to serving our veterans. That includes his work on Armed Services to defend veterans' priorities, and his work on the Budget Committee to spare the military -- and the country -- from a debt crisis.
