In many cases the police did act stupidly. I am very supportive of the police and do realize what it would be like to be faced with life and death every day, but in some of the cases the police did act stupidly. I have seen more and more training going into police departments now so maybe that comment was effective.

On the other hand, I don't see where a comment from our president that a man accused of sexual harassment "didn't do anything wrong" is helpful.

Except the police DID act stupidly - it was - his own house!
