Until we all get serious about buying goods....sm - just saying
[ In Reply To ..]
made in America, there is really no future for manufacturing in the US and hence no future jobs there. Americans want more for less and that means China, Japan, Taiwan, Guatemala etc. You get the picture. Bottom line, we need to reward companies who keep their jobs in the US and tax those that send their jobs overseas. The trade-off will be higher prices.
I've always questioned this, too. - sm

I think this "blame the consumer" is another one of those created crises like raising the debt ceiling (and the same major players, too).
Sure Americans want more for less. It's way I buy Prego when it's on sale but Hunts cans when it's not. But there was no boycott, we didn't write fiery letters to The Gap telling them to cut prices or else.
Maybe I'm older than some of you, but, and this may come as shocking, there was a time in this country when if you couldn't afford it, you didn't buy it. It mean that not everybody considered a 50" flat screen a starter TV. It meant that not everybody would have had an iPhone.
This is just another case of blaming the victim. Bring the jobs back home and we'll survive as consumers much the same way we did before they took them all away.
We can't buy US-made goods if they aren't made - here, and arent on the store shelves.
[ In Reply To ..]
Like you said, we're all looking for bargains. But oftentimes it boils down for deciding which product - be it Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Taiwanese, or made in the Philippines, is the better buy, because "US-made" isn't even in the equation. Sometimes you go to buy a toaster, and in a store with 20 types to choose from, they're all made somewhere other than the US.
And for products that ARE made in the US, (such as cars) we need to raise the bar on quality.
When will Boehner and TP get serious about jobs? - After vacation?

I am sure the laid off FAA workers are thrilled that Congress will be getting rested and tanned.
They are ALL on vacation... and Obama is having - a B-day party, charging 38,000 bucks, whoopie.nm

elaborate on these "terrible policies." I read so many posts on this board about Obama's socialistic, horrible, anti-American, terrible, etc policies. Expand on your "drive by" cause THAT is not working any more.
OBAMA and ignorance is what is not WORKING - anymore. He has never run anything
[ In Reply To ..]
not a small business or large one. He knows nothing but to spend more Govt money and pray it goes to the right places. Nothing has worked. Stimulus was a total waste. His housing market plans were a bust. The country is in the tank. Face it. It is Obamas baby. He is killing it.
What makes you think they care about jobs or the economy at all? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Boehner is the only person who came out of this looking worse than poor bullied Obama. He doesn't even really have figurehead status anymore considering his abject failure at talking any sense into the Charmin loons.
As to the Charmin loons, I think expecting them to understand economics or how to grow jobs is ridiculous. They have proven that it's more 'cutting off the nose to spite the face'. They got this grand idea but now it boils down to there being no money to do any of the things that would create jobs. We've had 10 years of waiting for that tax cut money to trickle it's way down into jobs; I put my money-catching umbrella away. So now they're going to sit and stare at each and giggle when the first of the poor folks circle the drain, until that mighty whirlpool sucks them down, too, and they're going to pull the Urkel, "Did I do that?" surprised that cutting the testicles off the economy would leave it sterile.

Turns Out Obama Was The REAL Russian Stooge. Apr 11, 2017The circumstantial evidence is mounting that the Kremlin succeeded in infiltrating the US government at the highest levels.
How else to explain a newly elected president looking the other way after an act of Russian aggression? Agreeing to a farcically one-sided nuclear deal? Mercilessly mocking the idea that Russia represents our foremost geo-political foe?
Accommodating the illicit nuclear ambitions of a Russian ally? Welcoming a Russian foothold in the Middle East? Refusing to provide a ...

More Signs Of Economic RecoveryNov 29, 2010NEW YORK (Reuters)
U.S. shoppers spent 6.4 percent more this Black Friday weekend than last year and hit department stores and clothing shops, rather than focusing on discounters as they had done in recent years.
