Politifact stands corrected:

After the ad aired during the last week of October in Ohio, liberal publications like Mother Jones acknowledged that every word of the ad was "true." So did mainstream media outlets like the Christian Science Monitor.

The part of the ad that caused the controversy was the claim that:

Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy and sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China. Mitt Romney will fight for every American job.

Politifact strangely acknowledged that the controversy "started as a line in a speech about where an American brand of car would be made" before it "blew up into a lie heard by voters well beyond Ohio."

As documented then, Romney misspoke on the stump when he said Jeep was going to move "all" of its production to China. But the commercial never claimed this. Rather, the ad merely stated something that was true -- that Obama sold Chrysler to an Italian company who was "going to build Jeeps in China."

In 2010, Fiat, which owns Chrysler, announced it would begin building some Jeeps in China as early as 2014.

of the entire context of what they said, linked below. Kevin Drum's comment began with the qualifier "technically" before introducing the "truth" in the Romney ad. You conspicuously omitted the part where he applied his test to judge how deceptive a statement is, as follows:

1. What was the speaker trying to imply?
2. What would it take to state things accurately?
3. How much would accuracy damage the speaker's point?

....nor did you include the results of that test and the remainder of his comments, also in full view in the link below, where he rates the ad as a 9/10 on his deception scale. IMO, your post merits a similar rating.

Cherrypicking out of context does not change the fact that Politifact STILL chose the Romney Jeep ad as its NUMBER ONE Pants-on-Fire entry for 2012. The link I supplied in the OP meticulously examines the same points Mother Jones made, along with its reasoning for the POF/Lie of the Year selection.
