Is it too late to get Tim Pawlenty or Rick Santorum to run?

Romney is going to blow this thing for sure.

The GOP does not have enough votes with any of them. - sm

GOP will not get any support from the Ron Paul wing and it is going to cost them this election.

Heads up! A vote for Ron Paul ensures another 4 years of Obama.
Afraid not - Trigger Happy

Neither would have enough votes to get the GOP nomination. They could run as an independent but that would really be shooting us in the foot and pretty much handing Obama the presidency again because that would accomplish nothing but splitting up potential republican votes instead of taking any away from Obama.
As much as I'm not a huge Romney fan, I'd still gladly take him over Obama any day.
What about... - (See message)

...a "brokered convention"? I've heard this term thrown around, but I'm not sure I know what it is. Is that where the delegates break with who their state party voted for them to nominate....i.e., if their state has chosen Romney, could they go to the convention and nominate Pawlenty or Santorum instead? I'm really not sure...just asking if that would be a way to put someone in besides Romney as the Republican candidate.
A brokered convention is when - Trigger Happy

a political party doesn't have a candidate who received enough delegate votes to get the nomination for that party. With the GOP, Romney has already gotten the delegates for the GOP nomination. So...we can't have a brokered convention. If any other candidate still wants to run for the presidency, they will have to do so under another party or as an independent. Like I said before, that will just take votes away from Romney and hurt any attempt to get Obama out of office.
I'm not a Romney fan...but I will vote for the lesser of 2 evils to get Obama out of the WH.
Ahhhh, thanks Trigger Happy... - (see message)

I guess I was thinking that super-delegates could "go rogue," so to speak, and vote against the candidate who had been chosen in their states' primaries or caucuses if they wanted to do so.
Yeah, I think a lot of us remember that Ross Perot took votes away from the Republican ticket....Bob Dole, I think it was(?).
I did hear TIm Pawlenty mentioned this morning as still being considered for Romney's VP candidate. Condi Rice for VP is apparently stirring up a lot of excitement, but some fear that her lack of ever having run for office could make her a problematic choice.
Do you all think the Romney campaign will announce his VP choice before the convention this time?
No way - Trigger Happy

He will not announce his VP until the convention because that will make more people tune into watching the convention.
I like Condi Rice, but I don't know if that is a great idea. Most conservative women are brutally beaten up by liberals and the media. I doubt that blacks would vote for her because a lot of blacks consider a conservative black as a turn coat to their race. Plus, she worked closely with Bush and I don't know that would help Romney. I do like her though. I still like Marco Rubio and Allen West too.
Whoever Romney picks, this is gonna be a close race with Obama.
FYI, Ross Perot took votes away from George H. W. Bush and that is how Clinton got voted in.
My memory is flagging these days! LOL... - (see message)

"FYI, Ross Perot took votes away from George H. W. Bush and that is how Clinton got voted in."
Thanks for that reminder....I didn't think Bob Dole sounded quite right. :-D I'm pretty sure this job is turning my brain soft, and I was too lazy to double check on Google. My energy seems to be flagging along with my memory!
I had heard thoughts that Romney's VP pick being announced before the convention might enable that person to start helping be more of an "attack dog," so to speak, since the VP candidate can sometimes get away with making attacks on the opponent which the person at the top of the ticket can't do as readily--trying to stay above that.
Well, his pick will be known soon enough, and that will surely enliven the discussions! :-)
