You all complain about the rich ripping the rest of us off....do we all not realize that the very politicians who claim to be for us little people are the rich!!!  Why else would some of these ridiculous breaks for the rich be in place?  You can't just blame one side of politicians...they are all rich...and they all are in it for themselves.  We are merely a stepping stone which they walk upon to get their political position....pub and crat!!!

Absolutely right and people actually believe this rhetoric - lka

Absolutely right. And, if people would listen to Michele Bachman (sadly from my state but not my district), they ought to be able to see thru her rhetoric. She can never answer a question that is directed to her... it's always about what Obama does wrong. I am so sick of listening to all of it because I feel so powerless. They all criticize Obamacare but they have "their's don't they? I don't know if his plan is going to be good or not but at least he is trying to help the "people" that elected him. In the end it is all about politics and each party has their own agenda... to keep getting re-elected and getting everything that we do not get. That's the way I see it.

We all vote for who we believe serves us best. - If you are on the receiving

end of any of the programs or have been in the past, you are obviously going to be for them. If you are one that is paying in the tax dollars, chances are you could be against some of these things that your tax dollars go to. The beauty of it is, is that a large portion of American's do not even pay in taxes and still are afforded the right to vote people in to decide where our money goes.

The difference - See message

[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, they are all rich, but the ones elected by the Democrats represent a different philosophy. The Democrats represent constituents who believe that those doing well should give a hand up to those who are disabled, old, mentally ill, etc. Their constituents, rich and poor require them to be fair to those who weren't born rich and work for a living. Fairness is the word that represents the difference.

I have no political heroes and think President Obama is somewhat of an educational or academic snob, which I don't agree with. I would like less free money for higher education, but other than that, the philosophy followed by Democrats is much kinder. I prefer that part of what they stand for. What I don't prefer is the hypocrisy of the Republicans preaching moral values while demonstrating the opposite.

Remember the story Jesus told about 2 sons asked to go out and do some task. One said he didn't want to, but he obeyed his father. The other piously said he would, but he didn't. Nobody ever forced anyone to give up their abortion by creating a law against it, for another example, but helping poor moms feed and care for themselves does indeed cut out abortions for those in desperatee situations, but instead of stopping some of the tax breaks and subsidies for the rich to cu costs, which we must do, they went FIRST to cut the WIC program which keeps babies from going hungry. I would like Republicans to work on fairness, kindness, and mercy. I would like Democrats to stop being so liberal with tax money for higher ed, for example, and continue to do what they do best, provide for those who can't provide for themselves.

i tend to believe that many of these people... - Kendra

people can provide for themselves and simply choose not to. It is easier to allow someone else to provide for them. Have you ever hear the Chinese proverb, "Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime." Welfare is keeping people poor. I am all for training these people to get decent jobs, so that they can provide for themselves, but then they would actually have to get decent jobs and provide for themselves. There should definitely be a time limit on welfare and WIC, et cetera, and I think is should be shorter than the extended time limits we now have on unemployment. This is nothing but buying votes.

sucked into the system - indemt

[ In Reply To ..]
Once you get in the system, it's nearly impossible to break free. I have first-hand experience. It took me 4 months to get the food stamps stopped back in the 1990s when I ran into some hard times. I needed help to feed my kids for a couple of months. They approved me but wouldn't stop the benefits once I told them I didn't need them anymore since I had a job. It took 3 letters and I don't know how many phone calls to take me off the program! I have a funny feeling I'm not alone.
Just one more reason we need comprehensive welfare reform. nm - Kendra

care of the disabled, old, mentally ill, etc....number one, they would not have fought the civil rights bill tooth and nail, they would not have raided the social security trust fund that was designed and intended to take care of the old, etc. But they did both of those things. Entitlements are the result of the War on Poverty legislation that Johnson put through as a direct result of losing the southern democratic vote when the Republicans managed to push through the civil rights act in the 60s. Republicans championed the african americans from day one...Lincoln was a Republican. Northern Republicans built the underground railroad and fought slavery. Republicans wanted to give african americans the right to vote immediately and got that doneafter the civil war, the Democrats turned around and passed literacy laws saying if you couldn't read you couldn't vote, successfully suppressing the african americans' right to vote until the 60's. Yeah, they really care about the poor and downtrodden. They only became interested in African Americans' plight when they became a voting bloc. Now you tell ME who really cares.

You need to focus on the shape this country is in, due in HUGE part to the massive amounts of social spending that Democrats have passed through the years. Well, it has caught up to us. We CANNOT afford it.

The tax breaks and subsidies you refer to stimulate businesses to HIRE...so the job market can rebound. We need to put people to WORK, not keep them on assistance.

Jesus would exhort us as INDIVIDUALS to give freely, not the government extort it from us and THEY decide how to dole it out. When faith-based organizations handled taking care of the poor, it was done better and was not operated in the red, and was designed to help people through tough times, not tie them to the government for their every need. It worked and would still be working had the Democrats not gone after a new voting bloc.

Republicans do preach moral values, and they give much more on their OWN without being forced to through government extortion. Do the research. Conservatives give much more than liberals. Faith-based organizations help more during disasters than the government does...through private funding, individual donations.

Do you have ANY idea what would happen to entitlement programs if the government stopped funding them and instead depended on liberals to donate on their own to organizations? I think that should be abundantly clear.

I have no problem with Social Security as we paid into that in good faith and it was not the government's money...however the Democrats made it government money...they stole it and that is why it is in such trouble today. People would have been better off to keep it themselves....SAFE from the government.

So many people have bought the Democrat lies, smoke and mirrors (now I say the DNC, the Democratic party higher-ups, politicians, decision-makers, not rank and file middle of the country Democrats who have bought the lie)...the Democratic party of my parents no longer exists. It has been hijacked by the far left.

The Republicans were meandering in that direction, solely because they thought the country had gone so far left they would not be able to get elected...they made a strategic mistake...but the midterms told them different and at least they are appearing to try to do what the majority wanted...STOP spending and get control of the DEBT.

Not sure I would invoke Jesus in one breath and support abortion in the next....but hey, it's a free country, right?

Very well said and I couldn\'t - agree more

There was no support of abortion in that message - and

[ In Reply To ..]
The point was to offer support so womrn can afford to have and keep those babies. No support for abortion was in that message but it pointed out the hypocrisy of those who preach against aborting babies but take the food out of the mouths of those babies born of poor mothers who chose not to abort. I wish I had time to point out the errors in your assessment about just who supported civil rights (Johnson, Kennedy, and others)and the fact that those employers who get those tax breaks so they can hire people are putting that $ in their own pockets instead. I don't have the arrogance to speak for Jesus. He doesn't need anyone to do that for Him. The Republican party is not the same as it was in Lincoln's time, unfortunately. Our country need people who care about others both through personal reaching out to those who need help and protection against abuse by those more powerful than they are.
What people SAY and what they DO are often.. - different things.
[ In Reply To ..]
While both men talked the talk, when it came to votes they did not walk the walk and sided with southern Democrats. When it became politically expedient Johnson picked up the banner for civil rights and overrode the Democratic filibuster so the law could pass...and when signing it said that "we" (meaning Democrats) had lost the South for "a generation." And what did they replace the white southern vote with? The new voting block of African Americans, by ushering in the War on Poverty, the start of the downhill slippery slope of entitlement spending. It was all borne of political motivation and not because the Democrats cared about getting African Americans the vote...if that had been the case he would not have had to have broken the Democratic filibuster. The Republicans were championing them from the civil war on...for the RIGHT reasons.

Sorry, your revisionist history does not work for me.

You have no proof that tax dollars going into any corporation was put instead in individuals' pockets instead. There are thousands of corporations in this country and that blanket statement is ridiculous.

Frankly, the entitlement system has gotten is to the point generation after generation in the welfare system. It fostered it and perpetuated it until having 3-4 kids out of wedlock became a career. When AFDC signed on a girl with her mother and grandmother...you KNOW the program has a PROBLEM. If you are concerned, round up your liberal friends and buy the poor folks some milk for those babies. There are faith-based programs who take care of mothers who choose not to abort their children...some to the point of helping with day care for the mother while she works and saves money, instead of handing her a check.

The Republican party IS the same as in Lincoln's time. Or it was, until they decided to become Democrat lite because they thought that was the direction the country was going. The midterm shellacking told them they better get back to basics, and it looks like they have.

If liberals really do have a heart for the poor and really want to support able-bodied people able to work but won't, then put your money where your mouth is and do it. Stop doing it with other people's money through government extortion. Set up a foundation and fund it and do yourself a favor and hire someone to run it who is capable of monitoring it for fraud, something our government has failed miserably at.

My bet is that your foundation would get more conservative Republican donations than liberal ones if it were voluntary.

What our country needs to is to get back to individual responsibility. I realize that is horrifying to you...but it works.

I was talking to a very conservative friend of mine who attends anti-abortion rallies and is always talking the talk. I mentioned to her another person I know. She is radical and never misses an anti-abortion rally, but she just took her friend in for an abortion. The friend I was talking to said to me, "I've done the same thing." So here am I, a person who never goes to anti-abortion rallies and I am not far right, but I would not, EVER EVER EVER take someone to get an abortion. I would like to see more Republicans walking the walk that goes with all of their blustery talk.
I'm sure sorry that your friend is a hypocrite, but... - anon2

while being against abortion does not a large problem make. Perhaps, she disagrees with her friends decision, but also realizes that she cannot stop what that friend is doing, so decides to be a good friend, anyway--you know, hate the sin, but love the sinner. Just a thought, but your examples are certainly not any indication that all, most or even a large number of Republicans or conservatives are hypocrites, only that possibly your friend is. Nice try, though. :)
and yes, I see that I used the incorrect "your." - anon2

It was a pretty large problem for those aborted babies - How could somone go that far from what they say th
[ In Reply To ..]
More appropriate would be to help those young women find a way to make it work. If I were presented with that situation, I would work hard to find financial support so that the young women could have those babies and not live in poverty. They are suffering. They don't need a ride to the abortion clinic. They need an option to help them find a way to keep and raise that baby. If someone truly is against abortion, driving someone to the abortion clinic is totally hypocritical.
But it doesn't make a big problem with Republicans or conservatives... - anon2
[ In Reply To ..]
it makes a big problem with 1 Republican/conservative. One person's hypocrisy does not make an entire group of people hypocrites, which is what I was discussing. Whether or not she should have taken someone to get an abortion is between her and her God, but that act does not mean that all conservatives are hypocrites any more than one father leaving his wife and kids means that all men are bad fathers.

The GAO Identifies $45 BILLION In Redundant Programs In 2014Apr 20, 2015

This is on top of the more than 160 redundant areas that the GAO has identified in its three previous reports. “It's impossible to ...
