Question for people planning to vote

Posted: Apr 10, 2012

Just a question as I am interesting in hearing the positives on both sides.  Without saying negatives about the side you don't support.  Can you give me a reason(s) why I should vote for Obama or why I should vote for Romney.  I don't want to hear negativity about the other candidate, already read enough.  And if possible don't try and make up things like Romney will try and convert everyone to Mormon or Obama will save the planet and covert everyone to muslim.  LOL.  I would like to know what specific policy is important to you and why you think your candidate is a better choice.

just curious what everyone will say and not sure who I will vote for or if I will vote.

I will vote for Obama again because.. - sm

I appreciate how hard he has worked over the past three years to put the brakes on a runaway train. We are now on a slow uphill climb. I also believe that the SCOTUS is wrong. A coorporation is NOT a person. I have faith that our president will continue to lead us out of this quagmire. I just think it would be much easier for all if there was more bipartisan cooperation.

A further question on your post - anony2

[ In Reply To ..]
Thanks for your reply. My question is has he put the brakes on a runaway train? Do you mean the economy? If so what has he passed/approved that shows he has. Please don't think this is an argument. I'm really trying to figure this out what has he done (passed, got approval, etc) that has made our lives better, improved the economy. Has he stopped the wars? I don't remember hearing that he did. I see us still on a fast speed downhill still, while you see us going uphill. LOL. I'd just like to know from someone who has a different opinion than I do why they feel this way. Maybe then it will help me understand.

I would like bipartisan cooperation too, but from both sides. I just don't consider when the democrats are never cooperating or compromising and trying to work with the republicans that the republicans are always the ones who are supposed to give in. To me I don't consider that bipartisan. Both democrats and republicans should work together not one side always giving in while the other doesn't.

I will vote for - Obama

[ In Reply To ..]
I guess it's who you ask, I see the democrats buckling to the republicans. That is the main thing I get mad at Obama for. I think he has some good ideas, but they can't get past the pubs unless we do this or that for the extremely wealthy.

Now, what I like about him is that he did get health care passed for the millions that don't have it. I believe there needs to be some tweaking but at least he did get it through.

He is trying to get rid of tax breaks for companies that offshore and reward companies that bring jobs back here.

I like that he is against the pipeline. There is more environmental danger than the jobs it would create, and people don't seem to understand that when we drill here all the oil doesn't stay here. It is not going to solve the ridiculous gas prices.

I'm glad he doesn't want to lift regulations. Our country would be a disaster if we lifted regulations and let companies do what they want. We have already learned that, that is why the regulations were put in place.

I'm glad he is trying to get troops pulled out of Afghanistan and Iraq. He also knew that we couldn't just pull out of what we started over there and had to do it slowly.

I won't get in to why I won't vote for Romney, since the OP just wants why we are voting for someone.

He says he is against it, but he went and made a speech to where the state-to-state one being built, which he had nothing to do with. Just playin' politics again!

Under Obama, we've had 25 consecutive months of private-sector job growth (sm) - Sally

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't see any sort of Republican jobs bill working its way through Congress. They don't have a plan. When the last guy was in office, we were hemorrhaging jobs. Remember how scary Sept-Oct 2008 was?

Also, Obama is trying his darndest to close the tax benefits for shipping jobs overseas and to actually provide tax credits for bringing jobs back to the US. I'm not sure if he's going to have to do this via executive order (and thereby bypassing the broken, bickering, stalemate Congress) or if he even can for this matter.

This is so pitiful ! You actually BELIEVE Obama - has created jobs??!!!!! Wake up! nm

definitely obama - political junkie

[ In Reply To ..]
Obama has demonstrated steady, consistent maturity and focus on stabilizing the country during the roughest years in our lifetime. If I had any bone to pick with his leadership, it would be his overuse of compromise with the republicans. Many of his best plans have been watered down in an attempt to create some harmony with people who are bought and sold by corporations and want him out of office even if it means crippling our country. Obama has done so much already and Ilook forward to his next term. I predict he has learned what works and what does not, and we will see his steely spine. If I wanted to be governed by an obscenely wealthy man who had no life experience with the common folk, I'd just pack up and move to Europe rather than vote for Romney.

I agree with this excellent post. - nm

I will vote for Romney - Trigger Happy

[ In Reply To ..]
merely because I feel he is the lesser of 2 evils. I am not at all happy with the direction our country is going...so I feel the best way to change that is to change the leader. As a businessman, Romney at least knows what helps business and what doesn't. I'm hoping that if he wins, he can get in the WH and do things that will help businesses grow instead of hindering business growth by over regulation.

I will personally admit that I really don't feel warm and fuzzy about ANY of the presidential candidates for 2012...and that includes candidates in both parties. So as I said....voting for the lesser of 2 evils but that is nothing new because that is who I usually end of voting for. I don't believe I've ever found a politician that I could truly stand behind 100%....which is sad.

"Corporations are people, my friend." - me

Yes, Romney loves to help businesses.

Scared for our country - American

[ In Reply To ..]
I am a conservative Republican living in a state where I have often voted democratic simply because I believed in the person I was voting for. That being said, I will vote for Romney because I am afraid of Obama. Because Obama believes in the rich giving to the poor (1%) I believe he is a socialist. Remember the professor who explained socialism to his class: If some worked hard for an A and some didn't do anything and got an F, he would give everyone a C so that those with the F would get a passing grade? That explains socialism to me in a concept that I understand. I do not believe that socialism is the way that I want my country to go. The other thing that I do not like about Obama is his devisiveness. I have always felt that when I was the leader of a group of people, it was my job to lead the group. It was my job to bring the group together to make decisions that were best for the group. I would not have been the leader very long if I would have been disparaging (sp?)half of the people in the group and then expecting them to come together as a group.
In summary, I will vote for Romney because I believe that he is patriotic and believes in the United States and I am praying that he will again unite the country.

Excellent post. - Zville MT

Where do you think it's going to end? Obama has no interest in teaching a work ethic, just power grabs and money grabs all over the place. You need to start reading some history and find out what happens when Obama policies, mirrored after socialists, trickles down to your level. Keep dreaming for the socialist/commie utopia that does not exist. Now all you flamers (aka liberals) get together for your daily meds.

eventual nominee.  Let me put something in perspective.   Justice Scalia's seat is vacant. Ginsberg is 82 years old, Kennedy is 79, Breyer is 77, and Thomas is 67. Nowadays, the data shows that the average age of a Supreme Court retirement or death occurs after 75.  These are 5 vacancies that will likely come up over the next 4-8 years. The next President will have the power to potentially create a 7-2 Supreme Court skewed in their ideology (which has gone on for decad ...

allowing Syrian or other immigrants into our country along with how many of us want illegal aliens to remain in our country. I am sorry but this directly affects me as well as you. We should be repaid for that and most certainly not made to get less because of these immigrants. ...

Question For People With Old Cats.........Jul 19, 2013
Do you have an elderly kitty that tends to yowl a lot for no reason?  My 14-year-old cat is happy, healthy, (been to vet not too long ago, also had a dental), and yet she some times yowls for what appears to be no reason.  She has all sorts of different normal vocalizations, yet when she yowls she sounds distressed.  But when I go to investigate, I'll find that she's:  Talking to her water dish as she dips her paws into it. Talking to her blanket as she kneads it ...
