eventual nominee. Let me put something in perspective.

Justice Scalia's seat is vacant. Ginsberg is 82 years old, Kennedy is 79, Breyer is 77, and Thomas is 67. Nowadays, the data shows that the average age of a Supreme Court retirement or death occurs after 75.

These are 5 vacancies that will likely come up over the next 4-8 years. The next President will have the power to potentially create a 7-2 Supreme Court skewed in their ideology (which has gone on for decades and it should NOT be the case). They are SUPPOSED TO BE IMPARTIAL.

Think about that... 7-2. If the next President appoints 5 young justices, it will guarantee control of the Supreme Court for an entire generation. 7-2 decisions will hold up much more over time than 5-4 decisions which are deemed to be lacking in mandate.

Hillary has made it clear she will use the Supreme Court to go after the 2nd Amendment. She has literally said that the Supreme Court was wrong in its Heller decision, stating that the Court should overturn and remove the individual right to keep and bear arms. Period.

Everyone saying that they won't vote for one candidate or the other if they are the GOP nominee, please realize this. If Hillary Clinton wins and gets to make these appointments, you likely will never see another Conservative victory at the Supreme Court level for the rest of your life... actually ever!

This is so serious we simply cannot allow it to happen. Please convince your skeptical friends and family we simply MUST vote for the Republican Candidate, no matter who it is! It is imperative for the survival of our Republic!

It's a common notion, but completely erroneous, that the Supreme Court is not supposed to be "political". It is political, as the means by which justices are chosen clearly shows, and always has been political. If you read a history of the Court, you'll see this from its very first days.

We hear this all the time (and we WANT very much to believe that the judicial system is free of political influences), but it's one of those oft-repeated memes that simply isn't so.

The entire judicial system has powerful political influences at every level. Many judges are elected, for instance - even state Supreme Court justices. Almost all District Attorneys are elected, and they have great discretion in deciding what cases to pursue and/or how cases should be disposed of, etc.

...and when you think about it, how could any court system, which is an organ of government, not be political when the government itself is inherently political by nature and by design?

Obviously, you did not do as I suggested and contemplate the manner in which justices are chosen..UNDER THE VERY PROVISIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION TO WHICH YOU REFER.

What you apparently lack is any concept about how human beings actually think and make decisions - including SC justices. Every judge sitting on any bench anywhere at any level functions within the framework of their own legal philosophy, and that philosophy is also reflected in their political positions.

Some judges are "activists" and can support their activism with not only the Constitution itself, but many writings of well-recognized legal scholars.

Other judges are "strict Constitutionalists"- and can similarly support their position.

The court is political, the justices are political, and that's all there is to it. Imagining otherwise does not make it so.

This, again, is superficial thinking. There is no such thing as an unbiased judge. Every single person sitting on the bench functions within the framework of their own legal philosophy...or bias. There are "activist" judges, for instance, and "constitutional" judges. There are judges who believe that "legislative intent" should be considered (as evidenced by the speeches, etc. offering reasons to vote for the law, and other), and those who believe that what matters is the pure language of the law itself, and no other collateral evidence.

What most people mean when they say "fair and unbiased" is a judge who views legal questions the way they do.

And we get more justices like Clarence Thomas? - old and burned out
