According to a weekly Gallup poll, from December 15 to December 21, 2014, asking the question whether people approve or disapprove with the way the president is doing his job:
Approve: 45%
Disapprove: 51%

CNN and Rasmussen were the only 2 that had a high of 48%.
The lowest was Reuters/Ipos at 37%. The rest were in the low 40s.
In fact, I just checked the Gallop poll. They published the full year and Obama was in the low to mid-40s ALL YEAR! No where near your number.
My guess is wishful thinking. I would go with Real Clear Pol before CNN... - Lass
