President Obama Approval Rating

Posted: Oct 24, 2012

I just took a look at Real Clear Politics and noticed that President Obama's job approval rating is overall +3.4 and Gallup has it at +11 for the past couple of days, and more people polled have approved of his job performance than have not for quite some time.  If this is the case, and it appears to be, why would people vote for Mitt Romney and deal with the unknown?  It strikes me as odd since Romney seems to be somewhat ahead in the polls with the exception of IBD/TIPP.

Yes, we do know what we're getting with Obama, steady - progress and sensible, responsible leadership.nm

Agreed - we know what we're getting - -

and therefore we're voting him out, polls or no polls!

He's been trustworthy, an old fashioned virtue I have - new appreciation for. nm

"Trustworthy" - as in taking down America?

Well, then, yes, you're right.
I trust Obama about as much as I trust a - bank robber... people are so blind ! nm

He tries to do his best for everyone--very egalitarian, no special groups placed over others. - That's BIG with me. nm

re. the economy, military power, border control, government overreach, jobs, energy independence, etc.

And, "no special groups placed over others?" I beg to differ, and my best example is how he treats unions vs. non-unions.

No, yet AMAZINGLY good considering the GOP set out to - block everything his administration tried to do. n

Amazing! No special groups placed over others? - backwards typist

I beg to differ. He places his biggest contributors above all others and they get first crack at government loans, government jobs, etc. Where have you been?

He also picks and chooses who he'll give an interview to, or go on their show and those interviewers just happen to be their largest contributors.

I'm as cynical as they get and I still like Obama - Fanatical Hypocrite

I criticize him a lot, don't defend him on a lot of issues and generally think things could have been handled better, but I still like Obama and want him for a second term. I know it doesn't make the best rallying call, but the fact that we still exist 4 years later after the mess he had waiting for him I think is a great advertisement. I wanted more sweeping changes, though Congress proved to be useless. We could replace the legislature with mannequins and still get the same amount done, but I still feel that he did what he could to the best of his ability. I know a lot of people see him and see evil incarnate. I just see a good guy with a nice family trying his best.

Funny thing about perception. Where one person sees a vicious socialist bent on world domination, I see a nice guy. For Bush, where I saw a hopelessly out of his element cowboy trying to make his dad proud, other people either saw a ruthless tyrant or the right hand of God.

Every president has his own cult of personality and their opposition.

Well put. - nm

open mind and research to come to a conclusion on who that person really is.

There are a lot of Bush haters around but if they would have just done some research, they would see what kind of guy he really was. Same with Clinton or any other President.

People just don't take the time to do the research. They just listen to the crap put out there and believe every word of it. Not a good way to choose the best person for the job IMHO.

What strikes me is this. Why doesn't he just listen to the people?
