Polio-like illness claims 5th life - (sm)

Posted: Oct 9, 2014

Incidence is higher in locations (secret locations) where the illegals are being housed.  Wait till Ebola hits Central America and there's a line to get in here.  I'm afraid us Texans will be the first to be exposed.

;

If those locations are secret, - how do you know

[ In Reply To ..]
anything about a higher incidence of EV-D68? Did they call in from their underground bunkers to report on themselves? You do see the folly in this line of thinking, don't you? From one Texas to another, that's almost as preposterous as the notion that ebola-stricken Central Americans are going to drive or walk 1800 miles or so to line up at our border demanding entry for treatment. This is getting more absurd by the moment.

She probably wears a magic tinfoil Stetson - that tells her these things. ;)

Polio-like illness - anonie

I have been saying all the time since the illegal children came across the border and they shipped them to other states that we would regret that.

Most of them were ill when they came here. If you look at what the CDC or WHO says about how many people have particular diseases, is it any wonder we now have illnesses that are not common in our country that we stamped out decades ago.

Since this is a polio-like virus, what can we expect but perhaps a mutation of it making these poor kids lose muscle function, etc. and some even being permanently paralyzed.

People have no common sense and our government has none since George Washington was president.

Think of our country and its legitimate people or those who immigrated here legally, not the ones breaking our laws.

I am sick of political correctness. I wonder if it will take one of Mr. Obama's children getting this illness or Ebola to finally get him and the government to wake up.

He has seen how the people guarding him have let through people that might have done bodily harm to him.

I mean when does it take more than a brick wall or common sense to take hold finally.

Truer words have not been spoken here in a long time. - sm

I find it curious that the mainstream media has really not talked about this enterovirus very much. Either people are not making the connection or they're just blinded by it.

You don't have a very good concept of what - constitutes "truth" then, obviously.

Most of them were ill when they got here? - Wrong.

Tired from walking hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of miles in the summer heat to escape gangs, abuse and drime? Maybe. Sick? That's another story.

Common sense tells me that since the numbers of unaccompanied minors and their whereabouts are not released beyond names of states, it is impossible to accurately assess their impact or lack thereof on the EV-D68 outbreak which commonly happens every year in the summer and fall. As far as the reappearance of diseases we stamped out years ago, you can thank the anti-vaccine campaign fanatics for that. As stated in the articles, the kids you are trying to blame have socialized medicine and get their vaccination for free.

Just because a headline says what it says doesn't make it so. The first CDC link below clearly states EV-D68 is a non-polio virus, so I would lose too much sleep over paralyzing mutants. I am sorry, but when it comes to innocent children, I cannot bring myself to think in divisive terms such as legitimate, illegitimate, legal, illegal, documented, or undocumented. I just can't. When kids are sick, regardless of where they come from, they share two human traits. They are sick and they are kids. We're supposed to be the adults in the room here, not judge and jury. Our job is to protect children.

In the second link, the CDC reports the unaccompanied minors from CA pose little risk of spreading infectious disease. In Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras childhood vaccination programs are comparable to those in the States and are 100% funded by their governments. Most of them received some or all of their vaccines. Children who didn't have vaccination records received their shots on arrival at the ORR facilities.

Kids were visibly screened for lice, rashes, diarrhea, cough, fever and other obvious health issue on arrival to border patrol stations and were referred for care as needed. They had to be fit for travel before they were sent to the shelters. They were screened a second time more closely at ORR shelter facilities. Kids with any communicable diseases were separated from the other kids and treated.

The last link is to a Texas Observer article that spends considerable energy debunking Fox misinformation on the health risks these kids do NOT present, provided for the benefit of the brick wallers.

25 cases starting back in 2012 - sm

Apparently this started back in 2012--so that rules out the recent upsurge of immigrants. More fear-mongering.

Interestingly, this article mentions that 2 of the 25 tested positive for enterovirus 68. Not sure if that is the new enterovirus D68 scare or not. The article is from February 2014, so that doesn't fit the "children crossing the border" scenario either.

If some of the new wave of immigrants have it, maybe they got it from relatives going back across the border from U.S.

around since 1962.

"Since its discovery in 1962, EV68 has been described mostly sporadically in isolated cases. Six clusters (equal to or more than 10 cases) or outbreaks between 2005 and 2011 have been reported from the Philippines, Japan, the Netherlands, and the states of Georgia, Pennsylvania and Arizona in the United States.[6] EV68 was found in 2 of 5 children during a 2012/13 cluster of polio-like disease in California.[7]" Wikipedia and CDC confirms this information.

Fox has been working overtime trying to besmirch the CDC and promote themselves as the new go-to expert authority on disease epidemic management. Downright comical. Just how vulnerable does one have to be to buy into that lunacy?

News flash, we had illegals streaming in at that time... - Sure

The reason it is increasing is we have a greater number of illegals coming across. All it takes is critical thinking...oh, that's right.

Hamilton, NJ was not an illegal nor is the township secretly hiding illegals. The demographics demonstrate an overwhelmingly white, nonHispanic, nonLatino population.
