Gawker.com asks people to report. It's Election Day in America! What could possibly go wrong?

Well, so many things. This already, from a reader in Pennsylvania:

Poll workers ARE asking for your ID in PA. The lady that asked me for it said 'well I'd really like to see it'. She also needed three run throughs on her sheet to even find me. She did this for everyone ahead of me, and couldn't find 4 of them (i was #8 at my spot). Then they said my signature wasn't close enough to my previous signature. I've voted in ten straight elections and all of a sudden I'm a fishy voter. This going to go well.

When I voted at 7:48 this morning I was asked to show ID. I refused (politely) and the poll worker grimaced but didn't make an issue out of it. I was kind of hoping she would, since my husband's the Minority Inspector and was sitting five feet away, and I'm not a morning person and I was spoiling for a good fight. The irregularity was that I was voter #68 when the polls had been open less than an hour. That was downright astonishing in this tiny borough. Seething masses of white people in polyester were all over the place. MOST irregular.

I will not. Upon check-in, the Bookmistress told me I can't vote because I have the wrong last name. Um, no. I have the right last name. You have the wrong last name in your Book of Reckoning in that you list my married name from eight years ago, which I restored to its original maideny condition and voted with in the last election. Dem. observer came over and corrected Bookmistress, who then gave me paperwork to vote provisional and when I looked, she had me marked as "not in book." Um, No. Name change. Her solution was to ALSO check the name change box. I asked for a clean copy with one reason selected. Was then directed to time-out desk to fill out my provisional Scantron of shame. Meany Poobah starts circling again like election shark looking for the unguarded moment when provisional pup seal turns its back to fill in it's choice for circuit court judge and then SPLASHWOOSH! bubblebubblebubble. Gone. All the other voters would see would be slowly expanding concentric circles of paperwork and a lone "I Voted" sticker falling to the floor like an autumn leaf. Like I was never there. Anyhoodle, I made it out alive. Ran into a friend on the way out who works for Ohio Dem Party. Told him what happened. He told me how to report it all, and so I did. Take that election shark."

You can tell this one went in there with a chip on her shoulder. Changed her name but didn't change it with the election bureau.

I lived at the same place for 30 years but over the years, our street address changed either by the township or the post office. I had to fill out a provisional ballot 12 years ago because my township changed the street address but I didn't realize it. It was one address in the books and I told them the new address. When I got home, I realized why I had to do a provisional. My new registration card has now my right street address.

IT'S NOT REQUIRED. As for looking through the sheets like the worker did, do ya think maybe she was making sure this person wasn't marked on different sheets? I've had a poll worker do that to me.

As for the one person being #68 in a small borough; I once went to vote at 7 a.m. in a presidential election and I was #102 at 7:20 a.m. I live in a small township so her crap doesn't count, either. Like she said, she was "spoiling for a fight."

What don't some people understand? Do we not use our brains anymore? Voting is serious business and the poor poll workers really need to dot their i's and cross their t's because of all the crap and liars out there lately. They don't want to be pulled into a stupid artificial fight by people that are just trying to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Wish they'd wise up.
