PA is now a red state.

Posted: Nov 3, 2010

After 8 years of Rendell and the dem-controlled state government, people in this state finally woke up. The house, senate and governor are all pub controlled. Hopefully, things will get done now. Rendell will be gone but hopefully, he won't take 'revenge' in these last days of his governorship and push things through that PA citizens were against from the get-go.

I will be watching. Our new gov promised to cut spending by cutting down the fleet of cars used by the legislature. This I have to see. Expenses for this fleet is horrendous and the taxpayers are the ones who pay for it. He made other promises, too, and I will watch and see and make sure he gets an email and/or written letter  if he does not hold true.

One really great thing that happened was a man named Argall. He was running against the incumbent, Holden, for U.S. Senate, but didn't make it because he was the one who wrote the bill in PA for a pay raise, which passed in the middle of the night; then when the citizens yelled loud and clear, most of the legislators gave the money back or gave it to charity...all except him.

An unhappy side is that Reid still made it, but then again, I wasn't so sure SA really should have been elected. So, the theory was with all his faults, he was the better of the two. Also, Pelosi sounds a bit unhappy, gave a written statement but did not give any speech.

I hope everyone else had a good election night. Who else  is happy about the turnout in the election? Let's make sure those elected keep their promises and/or fight for US and not themselves. Agree?

I am happy with the way it turned out.... - sam

and I certainly will be watching. As to Reid...I did not think he would be defeated because he is the union favorite and Clark County (Vegas) has the highest concentration of voters in the entire state. All the casino workers are unionized and Reid's campaign leaned on the casinos to lean on their employees and make sure they all voted. They did not tell then WHO to vote for, but the implication was there. Anyhoo...that did not come as a great surprise. And he was so gracious about his win (NOT). He absolutely does not get it..."The bell you just heard was not the fight is over. That bell you heard is round 2." Somehow that does not sound like he gets it. If I were the folks in Nevada that DON'T live in Clark County I would be spitting nails. Arghhh.

I knew the handwriting was on the wall with Russ Feingold lost his seat.

MIDDLETON, Wis.—U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, a three-term Democrat and liberal lion, lost his re-election bid Tuesday night to a plastics manufacturer from Oshkosh who was virtually unknown six months ago.

Wowzer. If that does not send a message, nothing does; same with PA. I am SO proud of the people of PA! That should be a major wakeup call for the Democrats left standing; will find out on some key votes.

I think we need to go back to before the 17th ammendment times when senators were chosen and sent forward by state legislatures. PLUS the states could RECALL them if they did not vote the will of the majority of the state's people. That was the way the founding fathers intended....that most of the power resided at the state level, NOT the federal level.

We need to get BACK to that. Then they could not shove legislation we did not want down our throats.

Have a great day! :-)

so is WI - cj

I am pretty happy with the turnout here in WI too. partly because we are also now a red state (although I personally did vote a split ticket and not all my choices were winners) but more because of a strong turnout for the election (I can't believe how many people do not exercise their right to vote) and because nationwide the voters got engaged in the process and have sent Washington a strong message. My sincere hope is that Washington listens and realizes that we put them there and we can take them out if they don't do their jobs and work for us. Here, Russ Feingold is out, losing to Ron Johnson. Scott Walker beats Tom Barrett, and Jim Sensenbrenner keeps his seat. I do agree with you about Reid. Don't like the guy one iota but Anngle is not a viable option. I will be most interested in watching our newcomer Ron Johnson, a businessman who spoke strongly about free market systems driving a successful economy. And the simple thought of Nancy Pelosi out as speaker, for me, brings a smile!

Yes, getting Pelosi out as speaker is a highlight! nm - TX

Indiana pretty much went all republican. On the downside, I'm not a fan of Dan Coats but I didn't feel I had any other choice since I definitely didn't want Ellsworth to win. I'm so tired of voting for the lesser of two evils though. Now we just have to hold their feet to the fire so they don't screw us over. I have no problem voting them out next time around if they don't do right by us.

goodbye fast Eddie!! - nm

Red State, Blue State, No Healthcare For You State.Feb 28, 2014
If you live in a red state and are unable to afford health insurance or find the costs to be outrageous, you have no one to blame but your elected officials.  It is a shame, but you can change it by voting the bums out in the next election. I am fortunate enough to live in a very blue state and have reaped the benefits of affordable healthcare. ...

State-by-state Map Of Climate ChangeJun 13, 2012
The below link is to an article that has a map showing the temperature changes by state since 1970. This is not necessarily a political issue in itself, but our response to it is. I live in one of the states that is showing the most change. Due to my way of life, I have been very conscious of the weather changes in my lifetime. I first started noticing thunderstorms in January. We should only be having blizzards in January--it was kinda fun. Then we started having tornadoes in September an ...

"important" to the republicans are misinformed.  The whole party is very afraid to make him mad.  There have been several occasions in the past where an elected republican disagreed with him on an issue and then was pressured to go on his show and "apologize"  As the defacto leader, he must be held to responsible for his words.  If your husband or father heard him calling YOU the names he called Ms. Fluke, would he not have his teeth knocked out?  As far as Limbaugh ...

Unfortunately, thanks to the Supreme Court decision, states don't have to extend Medicaid health insurance to fill the gap between those doing okay and the really poor, but the Obamacare does include some important presents for red state residents anyway. It's really bad to just assume, like those people on Hannity -- the free experts Obamacare provides are there to answer questions. This is important stuff. ...

Blue State EconomyJun 25, 2014
As usual, the Henny-Penny-sky-is-falling republicans are insisting that the economy is in the tank because of a weak GDP.  Most economists have already recognized that the terrible winter we had is the cause.
