I am horrified at all we are hearing about Jerry Sandusky and what he is accused of doing. It is hard to understand that not more was done. Have we gotten to the point in our nation that winning a football game is more important that a child?
Did the parents know? I haven't heard anything about them. I will say that no amount of money would have kept my mouth shut if one of those boys had been my son. I'd of called every TV station, every radio station, all the newspapers, I would have called the police, I'd of told everyone I met on the street. Jerry Sandusky would have begged the police to protect him against me.

[ In Reply To ..]Apparently most of these kids are "needy" children, in that their parents either neglected them, drug addicts, etc., and they belonged to a certain program that Penn State was affiliated with for "troubled youth." This guy took advantage and bought them things to make them feel "special." It was a past assistant coach from what I believe that went to the head coach to report it, who in turn reported it to the higher ups and others and for some reason it never got reported to police, allowing this guy to keep doing it over and over. How horrifying...I have seen the headlines about it and avoided reading it because I really had no interest, but I ended up reading it last night and wish I wouldn't have. I've been sick to my stomach thinking about that 10-year-old little boy all alone with that man in the showers, being walked in on by another adult...the embarassment, the shame, the dirtiness....He was only 10!! My son is 10! So horrifying to think adults act like this and take away innocence from those little kids!

[ In Reply To ..]There seems to be little doubt that Sandusky is guilty, but nonetheless, he needs to be tried in court to render that verdict. Not so for Paterno and the rest of the Penn State personnel who have lost their jobs; they are "guilty" without a trial. I believe they're being thrown under the bus to again just "make this go away".
At the time when the incident was reported to Paterno, Sandusky was no longer an assistant coach and Paterno did what he was supposed to do; report the incident (though reportedly he did not know the details) to the higher-ups who were supposed to handle it.
The thing I DON'T understand is if this guy truly witnessed what he said he did, why didn't he STOP the act while it was being perpetrated??? He was the only one who TRULY knew what he saw; for the rest it was all hearsay and innuendo.
