Oh, wow. Just found out the Obamacare doesn't cover (sm)

Copaxone for MS, and other expensive drugs like these.  Does anyone who wrote this idiotic stupid law have any idea how much these meds help those afflicted with MS???

This is just awful, and it seems to get worse everyday.

;

wait until the "dislike" fools get MS or some other illness that requires - meds that are not covered

My mom also has MS and will not get her meds now!

DD takes Avonex weekly. I'm sure that isn't covered either. - WTH is she supposed to do now? (sm)

is it covered on current insurance? - Efffie

If this medication is covered by your present insurance, keep your present insurance..why switch to one offered by Obamacare?
covered - NK

I do an MS clinic. There are many people who could not afford to be treated because they had no insurance (didn't expect to get sick and now have a pre-existing condition, a problem solved by the ACA), the drugs are very expensive and many insurance companies have to be begged to cover them if at all, or they were dropped by their insurance because they were sick. Most of the drug companies have patient assistance programs but you have to meet their financial requirements to qualify. The bottom line for insurance companies is profit, and the more treatment they can deny the more money they make.

If these insurance companies had a gun in their hands, we could call it extortion.

Maybe their insurance company is going away because of OC - like mine did
[ In Reply To ..]
Thanks God I'm healthy and don't take meds, but you seem to think the solution is just to keep your present insurance. Many of our insurance companies are dropping us and we no longer have insurance with them, so we can't keep our present insurance. How can you keep your present insurance when the company is no longer there.
insurance no longer there - Effie
[ In Reply To ..]
I could certainly be wrong but my understanding is that most of the insurance plans that have "gone away" were substandard... I doubt those policies covered expensive drugs. I would like to hear how the people got the drug covered before and why their insurance will no longer cover it..

For some people, generics aren't as effective as - name brand. nm

nm

true, but you have to take that up with the FDA - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The patent laws changed a long time ago - long before Obamacare. Most current insurance plans will not pay for brand name if a generic is available. What's your point?
Why take it up with FDA if insurance denies it? - wondering - nm

It does not cover Copaxone? Why not? I wonder if it covers Sustiva? (An HIV drug.) I have not gone on Sustiva because of the cost. Seems to me if the ACA is going to cover one medication, it needs to cover all medications. (And to those people who are forming judgments that I have HIV, I got it from a needle-stick.)

Anyone so backwards as to be judging you does not deserve an explanation of how you became infected in my opinion.

Thank you for your kind words. Even though I live in a large, sophisticated city, there are still people who judge people with HIV/AIDS. Someone said "It's a punishment from God." I said, "Does God hate little kids who get leukemia?" I cannot believe some people are still so backward. But anyway, thank you for your kind words.

I don't know about HIV drugs, per se, but this is (sm) - Abby

where I read about the Copaxone. I've seen similar stories on other sites. Copaxone is widely used by MS patients, and I don't see how most of them can afford this. If I find anything about HIV drugs, I will post. Sorry about your diagosis, however, though one of my best friends was diagnosed with HIV about 10 years ago and he is doing fine!

Thank you for your kind words. I had a friend who had MS and she was able to get on Copaxone through some funding program, not sure which, but it had to do with a large teaching hospital's program. Unfortunately, she passed away (of causes unrelated to MS). But paying for her MS meds was always a big worry for her.

I get my expensive ⥠meds - from Canada.

[ In Reply To ..]
It helps that I'm Canadian, but my meds were $300 a month in the States, and for something I need to...oh, stay alive...yeah. I suggest if you need medication you cannot afford here, to get it from Canada. I've been doing it for years and years and until the US does something to reign in the pharmaceutical empire, I will continue to do so. The pharmaceutical industry here is getting away with murder.

Obamacare is not one plan - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
There is an array of plans. I'm sure you know that. Your post is misleading. Further, there are assistance programs from the manufacturer. I can't join you in your desire to be miserable about nothing.

Why don't you do a little reading on this "array" of plans and (sm) - Abby

[ In Reply To ..]
see what the deductibles are for getting Copaxone, or other related drugs. Actually, just read this article. That will be a good first step. Then check out the "array" and see which ones cover Copaxone. Call them yourself.

I'm sorry. What article? Did I miss a link? - nm

What CNN Found Hidden In ObamacareJan 09, 2013
by AWR Hawkins 9 Jan 2013, 12:24 PM PDT Good news -- it has become known that hidden deep within the massive 2800-page bill called Obamacare there is a Senate Amendment protecting the right to keep and bear arms. It seems that in their haste to cram socialized medicine down the throats of the American people, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Barack Obama overlooked Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c. According to reports, that amendment says the government cannot collect " ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...

Obama Engaged In Cover Up During Iran Deal. Jun 13, 2017
the Obama administration prevented multiple federal agencies from thwarting Iranian-backed terrorist organizations. The Iran deal shields Iranian-backed terrorists from prosecution. Found Something In My PieJan 30, 2012

I bought it for the others in my house, but decided to taste it this morning after they raved about it. I put my fork around what felt like a large chocolate chunk, put it in my mouth, and it turned out to be a metal frosting decorator tip. I didn't bite it or swallow it, as I was going to let it melt in my mouth to just savor the one bite I was going to indulge in. ...
