This clip makes him look and sound like a great American, but just look at what he did. The ends do not justify the means. His actions were wrong, his methods unacceptable. He was a ranking member of the military and he violated the rules he was supposed to be living by. He dishonored his position and our armed forces with his rogue actions. I like his message here in this video, but it sure does not present a clear picture. I can't get past his actions in regard to the prisoner. To be clear, my prior posts have not been defending his actions, only stating points about what happened to him because of them. I cannot support his tactics.

What do you take exception to in my statement? He wasn't kicked out. He was fined, allowed to resign and did retire with full military benefits. I didn't say right or wrong; I simply said that he wasn't kicked out.

The other post, which I responded to, said he was kicked out of the military, which is completely false, but that doesn't seem to bother you at all because that better suits your perspective. Perhaps you should respond to that one instead of putting words in my mouth. I did not say he was a good guy or a hero nor was I trying to paint any picture but to provide the facts behind his departure from the military. Like it or not, he was NOT kicked out of the military. That is both false and misleading.

You are right, just barely. His alternative was court martial and dishonorable discharge. He was allowed to plead guilty and leave before they threw him out. He took advantage of that offer.

at the article 32 hearing court martial was not recommended. The recommendation was for administrative action. Thus the $5000 fine. That recommendation could have been rejected, but it was not. there was not going to be a court martial. And following his retirement he received thousands of letters or support including over 100 from members of Congress.

That said, the views on this post say volumes and also say that not all people who are republicans are 'racist.' We don't like Obama's policies and spending sprees (just like his 1000th speech today about spending us out of a recession). LOL! I just heard that today Obama signed the Tribal Law and Order Act.
