I have been googling for 15 minutes and can't find anything in regard to it. Where did you see it?

congress online tax... - sm

see: congress online tax. It is being pursued by retailers. It has nothing to do with Obama, in spite of the OP's uninformed assertion.

Yeah, that is what I thought. I read all about the sales tax discussion sm - kelli

I figured the OP was just being hateful and telling lies to back up her hate. It must be so sad to live such a bitter life that you need to make up lies to get attention. Thx for the info.
OP - not uninformed, I just always want him to go away. - By the way, (sm)

I've always thought a memorial service was to memorialize those who died and also in this case offer consolation for victims and their families. I had no idea it was to sit and count how many times the President said something.
Either you are uniformed or lying. - Which is it?

Nice try at deflection, too, with the "make no mistake" counting.

just repeat what the lying Republican sector of Congress is telling them to believe. They've been caught in lots of lies, yet the believers never learn and keep voting for more and more destruction to the middle class and poor.
If only it was JUST the lying Republican sector - of Congress
[ In Reply To ..]
They repeat the lies of the radical right-wing celebrities and bloggers. They take it as truth, then repeat it.

The lies of the Republican elected officials are bad enough, but compounded by the hate-mongering political celebrities, which seems to be the only "source" of information the Republicans on this board use.

And sometimes they come up with things on their own, like misquoting the president, misrepresenting laws (Missouri confiscating all guns), or at least I *think* they came up with them...

Anyhow, a teacher friend of mine once told me when musing about children with bad manners and habits: A child follows its leader.
Excellent post. Thank you. Speaking of - sm

Speaking of celebrities, did you hear that the Republicans are going to Hollywood and hope Hollywood will help.

Congress wants an internet sales tax - Truthhurts

Retailers don't want it, Congress wants it. Every person who sells ANYTHING on the 'net would have to pay and every retailer who sells would have to set up databases for each state's sales tax and keep track of every sale for each state and send the money to that state.

have all lobbied in favor of these proposed measures. Those are all retailers. Not a single one among them has ever been elected to congressional office. Also, despite the reference to a "national" internet sales tax, the article and all three sets of both house and senate legislation describe different STATE tax collection schemes.
Small businesses won't be able to do it. - Truthhurts

You posted all large CORPORATIONS. Of course they're for it. It puts the little guy out of business and he won't be able to compete.

I'm not talking about corporations. A small one-person business or a small mom and pop operation who sells on places like eBay or Amazon using drop ship or has inventory in their garage would no longer be able to compete with the big wigs.

Three quarters of posters on this board are against corporations making profit, yet are all for them having an internet tax and putting mom&pop operations out of business. Doesn't make sense and just shows me that their ideals are way out of whack. IOW, it's okay if it hurts the little guy, yet it's terrible that these corporations are making all this money.

Make up your minds.
I have a collectibles shop on eBay (comics, etc) - sales tax
[ In Reply To ..]
When you list on eBay, part of the template you use to list your products includes an optional sales tax drop-down menu. You select the state, and the sales tax is automatically applied on the invoice you send to the buyer. I would think Amazon would have the same system, but I've only ever sold to Amazon itself, not to individual customers.
It's premature to assume those measure wont - take that into account.

Ever heard of a tax exemption? How about reduced rates? Deduction? Ring any bells?

Could you please point me to the part where support for the big-box initiatives was expressed? Making objective observations and stating simple facts are not tantamount to a stamp of approval.

You claimed that retailers did not support the internet tax. The response merely reiterated the the information found in the source you cited. I also felt it was pertinent to the dialog that these proposed "remote" internet tax laws are aimed at how state taxes are collected, not creating a new federal tax.

This has nothing to do with Obama. Better go back and read the post to which you are responding.

Just FYI, Obama and Congress aren't the same "person." - nm

Taxing BusinessesDec 13, 2012
An article on NPR talking about how added tax on some small businesses could lead them to hire more people or buy new equipment.  It also talks about the flip side, how for some small businesses, the tax would make it harder for them to expand. "For some 97 percent of small business owners, that higher rate is irrelevant. They make less than $250,000 a year. And for those whose income works out to be just over that threshold, one way out of paying that higher tax rate could be to hire on ...

Taxing The Richest And The DeficitNov 12, 2010
From Robert Reich-Christian Science Monitor The economics are clear: First, the top 1 percent spends a much smaller proportion of their income than everyone else, so there’s very little economic stimulus at these lofty heights. On the other hand, giving the top 1 percent a two-year extension would cost the Treasury $130 billion over two years, thereby blowing a giant hole in efforts to get the deficit under control. Alternatively, $130 billion would be enough to rehire every teach ...

Moving With Acquired Stray CatMay 23, 2011
My dog died a month ago.  Simultaneously my son and his girlfriend befriended and brought a stray cat into the house.  He's neutered, clipped ear.  I think he may have been plucked off the street by a good person, fixed, and then dropped in this quaint, safe townhome community.  He is a sweet boy and fills the void of having just lost my dog of 10 years.  So, my question is... The cat comes and goes as he pleases.  He stays in the house more than not ...

Selling House And Moving After Feb 26, 2017
It looks like I may have to sell the house before I lose it due to lack of income.  It has about 30 grand in equity, in the state it is in (50 with 15 g of work).  But, the task seems to daunting due to my age (59), I am virtually alone, and I have no idea where to move except out of California.  The problem may not be unfamiliar to others in our industry so maybe you can relate.  Though I have no real bills other than the mtg and utilities, I have very little accessible cash ...

Even though I am a very sad mom, I totally understand that they would like to move together.  Her boyfriend is an only child, and it shows. He ...

"What's The Conservative Equivalent To 'Moving To Canada?'Nov 09, 2012
From The Atlantic: When Democrats lose elections, a small but audible ratio of them invariably announce their intention to move to Canada, that liberal paradise where healthcare magically costs nothing, everybody is nice to each other, and maple syrup flows freely (although the price of cheese may lead to sticker shock). But when Republicans lose, you almost never hear them grumbling in the same way. Are conservatives simply less prone to melodrama? Or would they just consider it ...
