Now, I've never quoted Chris Matthews, but "If you want

come to Charlotte." Yes! That's us.

The GOP was once the Grand Old Party, but for now, until they rebuild themselves, it's us. Oh, I'm sure that is also true for many good, decent conservatives. But where on earth ARE they? And when are those who believe that this country belongs to all its citizens, believe we have to work together together to be great, believe that united we stand, believe in the principle of one man, one vote, going to step forward and speak up for themselves?

It is so much easier just to be a Democrat - sm

Easier to be on the side of good.

Agree, much nicer to be Dem now, but we have no monopoly - on good. Just far better leadership currently. SM

And, when the Dems lost the South in the years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, we didn't just lose the decent Southern conservatives who made us so schizophrenic as a party, we also lost the South's share of the nation's hatemongers. They, who'd burn the country down before they'd accept the millions who are different as fellow citizens, became 90% the problem of the GOP.

The rest has been unfolding ever since. Including and ESPECIALLY the exploitation of a citizenry turned against themselves by still others who'd burn the country down if it meant profit for them.

that I was so impressed at the speeches thus far at the DNC. He said "its easy to talk to people and give good speeches when you're telling the truth!"

when you are speaking the truth and from the heart. Gotta love it!

I'm just the opposite - I find it much easier to be a Republican - Yes, it IS easier to be on the side of good

than to be affiliated with mean hate (and no other election has ever been this mean). It was so easy to hate those not affiliated with the democrat party years ago. I don't blame the people when they are lied to and brainwashed by people who claim they are in the news industry and politicians. We were lied to for so many years. Luckily I had a friend who lifted me up and guided me to start listening to other stations besides MSNBC. There were plenty of stations to choose from. I started watching events on CSPAN and started reading newspapers from all over the country and out of the country. I was able to step back and with a clear mind and without set ways in my mind toward either side. I listened to all sides and made my own informed decision instead of having other groups tell me what to think. That is why I affiliate more with the Republican side.

I find it so much easier and upbeat and healthy to be a Republican. Went from the party of hate and intolerance to the party of forward thinkers and people who are always looking at how they can make things better with new ideas.

I'm glad to be associated with the Republican party who understands a failed administration and lack of any leadership. I'm glad to be affiliated with the party who understands basic economics and why people need to be working, amongst other important issues. The party who is talking about issues that will affect me and millions of people across the country. Actually I don't understand why anyone would want to remains affiliated with a party that has no new ideas, no forward thinkers, nobody who takes responsibility, and even it is so bad they have the same platform they did four years ago. I'm glad I don't belong to the party who doesn't understand the simple concept that 1,325 days is not an "overnight". But its understandable since their president thinks there are 57 states.

Glad I affiliate with the people who are young and old alike of all colors, shapes and sizes that are happy and upbeat, that at the convention was enthusiastic and happy we will be having a change of party in November. It's so much easier to affiliate with people understand that it doesn't matter if your president is black, white, hispanic, mexican or any nationality (as long as they are American born that is), it doesn't matter to us if they are a man or a woman. What matters is ideas, voting records, issues being discussed. And it also doesn't matter to us if someone is a catholic, christian, jew, hindu, mormon, or muslim.

Glad I affiliate with a party that wants to see the country move forward and is telling the truth to the people instead of telling them if they vote for the other guy all the black people of the country are going to be back in chains like their ancestors who were slaves, amongst all the other lies and hate being spread.

I too was impressed with the speeches at the Republican convention. I think it was America at its best. I was proud to see so many happy people of all ages interested and taking part in one of the most important events in our lifetime, involved and knowledgeable about issues that affect everyone. I was telling my hubby that it's nice to see so many people involved in politics and excited in what is going on and he said because this administration and their decisions have affected the country in such a negative way, when more people are out of work then before he took office, 32 MILLION, yes, that's MILLION), when the economy is going down, when the war that everyone protested against is still going on, it's very easy to talk to people about issues that are important to them. It's very easy to give a good speech coming from the heart and being honest with the people you care about. Just didn't hear any of that with the DNC crowd. That's why I don't belong to that party.

If you've never quoted Chris Matthews before - don't start now!

same phrase she did, "shuck and jive." Here's her brilliant response: "For the record, there was nothing remotely racist in my use of the phrase 'shuck and jive' – a phrase which many people have used, including Chris Matthews, Andrew Cuomo, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney to name a few off the top of my head. In fact, Andrew Cuomo also used the phrase in reference to Barack Obama, and the fact that Mr. Cuomo and I used the phrase in relation to President Obama ...

Chris Matthews Rips Obama A New One....May 16, 2013
Basically, says Obama likes going out in public and making speeches, but he doesn't like the real job of being President - the executive part.  He doesn't like dealing with (other) politicians, he doesn't like the hard work of garnering support for his agenda, exercising and delegating authority, etc. He likes golfing, playing basketball, taking an unbelievable number of vacations, schmoozing with celebrities and being the center of attention.  Perks, yes.  Work, n ...

Don't See Maher And Matthews Feeding The Hungry, Sheltering The Homeless? Feb 05, 2012
Bringing this up from thread below, where right-winger rant is ongoing.  Typically, the poster is mindlessly pulling stuff out of thin air and making wildly uninformed claims, which obviously have not been researched.  I'm always more than happy to accommodate this sort of information deficit. Anyone see Chris last night? He had a dem and a repub (head of Virginia republic party) on discussing the performance of Obama this past year.  The dem was very reasonable. The repub was negative, negative, negative.  For example, he asked her if banning torture was a good move.  she insisted banning "enhanced interrogation" was a horrible decision.  At the end of the segment he said people were curious as to why he had so many repubs on his show when others on MSNBC did not. ...

Do Not Ask Chris Christie Where His Kids Go To SchoolJun 23, 2011
This guy wants to be President? Sheesh! What a nasty man. New Jersey Governor Chis Christie doesn't like it when reporters ask him to provide details on his meetings with Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes.Nor, apparently, is he fond of New Jersey voters asking him seemingly reasonable questions about why he sends his kids to private schools. Chris Dodd Is Expected To Announce His Retirement TodayJan 06, 2010
Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, is set to announce he will not seek re-election this fall, Fox News confirmed early Wednesday. Rumors Of Paul Ryan And Chris Christie Joining Pres. RaceAug 16, 2011
Just my opinion, but I think Chris Christie would be better off finishing his term as governor and then running in the next election - I like him, but it's just too soon for him.  Paul Ryan should also think twice about this, as he's not exactly Mr. Popularity, even with some conservatives.  I like him, too, but I don't think he coud garner the support he would need.
