For this to come from tingling leg Matthews....if I were Obama I would start moving stuff back to Chicago. He's history in 2012, if not before. This is why the birthers still don't believe he was born in the USA (ah, memories of Bruce Springsteen).

One item that really boggles my mind is how could he become a senator if he refused to offer his official papers as a state legislator? How could he even become an Illinois Senator without providing that info?

I can understand not releasing a client list or billing records. That is confidential attorney-client priviledge. To do so might get him disbarred.

As for declining/refusing college records, what would that prove? That his grades weren't spectacular and maybe he wasn't up to snuff on his courses? Or would the records include his birth date and place? If so, there's a reason for not releasing those records.

I just don't understand why Obama doesn't clear up this crap once and for all, especially if he was born in Hawaii. This is why this subject keeps regurgitating. It really does make you wonder.

On an aside, please excuse any typing errors. Santa didn't bring me a new keyboard for Christmas, and my eyes are really bad today.

If his college records are released it will show whether he received any financial aid as a foreign born citizen.

I just don't get it either. At this point in the game I don't care if he was born here, there or anywhere. The damage has already been done and knowing where he was born wouldn't change anything.

If he really was born here I just don't understand why he won't release the information that would put a stop to all the ones who don't believe he was born here.

I think the birthers don't believe he was born here because the certificate that was submitted was found to be a fake document. I say since he was born in the USA, just release the real one and let it all be cleared up.

The fact that Chris Matthews resurrected this speaks volumes. My opinion is the pressure is going to start for him to resign. Though why the hard left wants Joe Biden in that seat stumps me, except they can then trot out their next golden child to run in 2012. Obama is dead in the water for that and they know it.

do the research. Hawaii admitted that in the past these "certificates of live birth" (not the original long-form) were made for people not actually born in Hawaii. That is why the COLB cannot be trusted. All he would have to do is get a certified copy of the long form (I think it costs ten bucks, certainly he can afford it) and post THAT on the internet and all this would go away.

Why do you suppose he refuses to do that? A valid question.

The show was tongue in cheek - but I think Chris needs to stop giving the wackos free air time and keep repeating all the good that has been done - fair pay for women passed, no pre-existing conditions for those of us with children who have them, credit card issues dealt with, repeal of DADT. Now, we just need to get the people in this country to move FORWARD ... the rest of the planet is passing us by while we sit and worry about a birth certificate.

Obama could stop the "looking backward" for GOOD if he would just release the long form legit birth certificate if it exists. It is ridiculous that he refuses to and there can be only one reason for that. If he was a Republican the hard left would hammer relentlessly until it was produced. Most people realize that...and it makes the situation worse.

The one thing all of this brought up to me was that I've never seen my own long form birth certificate. I was also born in 1961, though I was born in NJ. Anyway, that's what I've been told. When all of this first came out during the campaign, I saw Obama's cert. of live birth and thought, "Hey, that looks pretty much just like my birth certificate. What's the big deal?" That's when I discovered that I also had a certificate of live birth. My parents names aren't even listed on the certificate that I have. It's the same one I've been using for years whenever a birth certificate is requested. Even carried it to Mexico back in the days before passports were required to travel there. I've asked my mom about it, and she just says, "I don't know. That's what they gave me." I suppose I should request the long form. Maybe I'll find out something interesting. In the meantime, I suppose I shouldn't run for president.
