but the rest of us did. O has a Labor Day jobs plan. I wonder what Boehner and McConnell's plans for jobs are. Oh, silly me. The only plan THEY need is to make Obama a one-term president. No other plan needed. How many jobs do you suppose that plan will create?

Invest (which means spend money) on roadways and bridges. I thought he already did that and realized there were no such things as shovel-ready jobs? Seems to me like Obama keeps blowing the same smoke up our butts and the same people are still dumb enough to believe it. Obama's got nothing. He can blame congress all he wants to but he had the majority when he first became president and didn't do anything. A failed stimulus that spent a lot of our money with very to no results as well as a healthcare plan that is causing prices to go up in healthcare because any smart person knows that NOTHING is free.

Obama is a joke and a major failure. Even if the republicans were for raising taxes, do you honestly think Obama would cut back spending if we brought in more revenue. He11 no...he would spend even more. The man couldn't even come up with a budget and to my knowledge....STILL hasn't come up with a budget.
Wow. Can I borrow that crystal ball? - sm

Why not wait at least until the plan is unveiled before tearing it apart?  How credible do you think this prejudice is?  You have no idea what is in that plan.  Nobody does.

Investment.  What a novel idea.  ARRA was signed into law Feb 17, 2009.  Notice what happened a couple of months later after the disbursed funds began reaching their destinations.  Jobs losses were immediately cut in half, then steady trended upward.  Within a year we see losses turn into gains, astonishing, really, when one considers just how much hemorrhaging he inherited.  Notice how the little bars have stayed above the zero axis ever since.  I imagine the gains would have been substantially higher had the amounts Obama originally proposed in his ReINVESTMENT and Recovery Act (as in recovering jobs losses and creating jobs gains, illustrated below) been allowed to pass.   It's time for him to come up with something BIG again, so I am looking forward to seeing what he has in mind.

this miraculous plan Obama has up his sleeve...which he is just now willing to share with the rest of us....works better than that stimulus package we had to pass. When I hear Obama talk, all I hear....it isn't my fault and I wanna spend more.

"Looming"? It never ended. And they should - call it what it is: A DEPRESSION.

[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry, but the Prez didn't "cause" the current recession/depression. When he was elected, he hoped to be able to help it end. Unfortunately, the Pubs won't let him do much, and he's unfortunately not strong enough to override them.

Yet another good reason why we should boot both the Republicans AND the Democrats out of our government, and start electing independent candidates, with no party affiliations at all.

Baloney!! Obama had 2 years of DEM CONGRESS - All he has done is worsen every problem. nm

have such personal hatred for him would be in Congress, he might have acted more swiftly. With those CONS there, given their hatred for Obama, he's lucky to get anything done, even if it's what's best for the country. The CONS don't care. They have even voted against their own ideas simply because Obama agreed with them.

I've never witnessed such a childish Congress in my life, and I hope reason prevails in the next elections so we can get rid of these ridiculous Tea Partiers. That's the only way America stands a chance of surviving, and it's hard to believe there are Americans out there who actually like the Tea Partiers, but I guess it takes all kinds.

I agree that we never really got out of the - sm

initial recession and, IMO, are heading toward a depression. However, you cannot give Obama a free ride on this one. Bush made some huge mistakes...no doubt about it...and he hurt our country with spending too much. But the last 2 years of Bush's administration, the democrats controlled congress. During Obama's first year, the dems controlled everything and could have done everything they thought was best for our country...but didn't. The people voted in republicans in 2010 for an obvious reason. They did not like what the democrats were doing or were NOT doing. Obama has his chance to push through everything he wanted and he didn't. Now he is blaming republicans instead of taking responsibility for his lack of action when he had the chance. He has no one to blame but himself for lack of leadership.

Puleeze, tell us your plan. Boehner, Cantor, and Bush again? - .nmNM

[ In Reply To ..]
You could see all this coming a decade ago. I'm sure Bush did, too. But nobody acted, they just looked the other way. It's not any one person's fault, it's ALL OUR OUR FAULTS.
I agree with this 100%. - nm

UPS STINKS!!!!!Mar 26, 2010
I have come to the conclusion that I absolutely will not use this delivery company again. They are the rudest bunch of people I've ever met. For the 4th time this year, I've received a delivery that has not been protected from the elements. It snowed last night. Here I come up the drive, and there sits my box all soak and wet from the melting, dripping snow above on my roof and laying in a puddle of melting snow. This guy didn't even take the time to put it in a plastic bag. He a ...

Being 46 And A Divorced Mom Stinks!!! Anyone My Age Feel The Same? SmNov 13, 2013
It seems that women who end up divorcing in their 30s or younger (although none of us wants to divorce at all) have a much better chance of finding someone new.  I divorced at 41 and can't seem to find anyone who is just a decent person.  Let's see, I don't make enough money, and I need to lose weight.  That probably all contributes.  Just feeling lonely and old and fat and broke.  Can someone please tell me that it gets better? ...

Section 8 HousingApr 23, 2010
OK, Section 8 housing is defined as: "The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a type of Federal assistance provided by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) dedicated to sponsoring subsidized housing for low-income families and individuals". So, this is a type of government assistance program, right?Does it seem a little odd that someone (who normally is against any type of government assistance such as welfare, handouts, etc) would think it's an acceptable way ...

Housing: Apts. Vs. Home OwnershipJan 20, 2017
I've been a renter my entire adult life.  I work and attend classes and just don't want the headaches of maintenance, yard work, etc. All my friends are homeowners.  They have had the same problems with noisy, rude, etc. neighbors that I have had, only they had no "security company" to call, only the police.  In my city, the first thing the cops ask is, "Are they playing loud music?" If the answer to that question is "no," they aren't that interested. Now I'm ...

Opinions On College Dorms Versus Off-campus Housing Please...son Wants To Rent Next Year.Dec 15, 2009
My 18-year-old son is currently a freshman and staying on campus in a dorm with one roommate.  He's three hours from home.  Yesterday he called me and asked me if he could rent a house next school year with three other roommates.  It would be a lot cheaper but my main concern is safety and the neverending distractions he'll have that goes with living in a house full of people.  I told him we'd discuss it in a couple of days when he comes home for winter break.& ...

Here is the historical data from the US Dept. of Labor Bureau of Statistics.    Funny how the last big (and highest) spike was under the Reaganomics regime. As you can see, it isn't as high yet as it was then.  I predict it will peak roughly where it did then and will start to go back down as it did then.  If it keeps rising and does not show signs of a drop, then I'll panic.  After all, most conservatives think Ronnie was wonderful don't they? &nbs ...

Is it possible that somebody receives SS benefits and at the same time also unemployment payments?  My neighbor tells me that he receives both. A Possible Unemployment Solution?Nov 04, 2010
A financial pundit, James Galbraith, suggested:  We have a large cohort of people who have been displaced by a major economic crisis,” he says. “It's utterly ridiculous to make them subsist on unemployment insurance, when in fact, there aren’t going to be jobs.  This is not a temporary condition for a great many people.” Galbraith claims lowering the retirement age would solve that problem. It's a win-win, he says, allowing those nearing retirement a ...
