Majority of US Muslims favor Shariah law over US Constitution.

Posted: Sep 29, 2015

Albeit it is a small margin (51% prefer Shariah law over the US Constitution), it is something to seriously consider and think about. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and should not be changed to conform with Muslims.

P.S. I am about as liberal as one can get.

;

Well, the majority of Republicans support establishing - Christianity as the national religion

[ In Reply To ..]
The fact that Muslims will "prefer" Sharia law probably relates to their religion and how they are taught it dictates their behavior over and above any laws of man. Kind of sounds familiar, right, Kim Davis? It's a moot point, they have to follow our laws and so do evangelical Christians whether they like it or not.

Honestly, how do you suppose the fact that a survey of Muslims preferring Sharia law means our country is changing in any way?

This country was formed on Judeo-Christian principles only because the people who founded it were Judeo-Christian background. The founders did NOT want religion in the govt, they were running away from that.

That Sharia law does not scare me as much as the poll linked to below (see the very end about global warming, evolution, and Christianity) because I want NO religion in my govt and no religion favored in any way. I would prefer churches pay taxes because they have become propaganda machines and are telling people how to vote, which I happen to disagree with.

And I prefer no religion at all. It clouds the - minds of humanity with make-believe.

Our founding fathers gave us a Constitution based on a moral - people. Morality comes from the Bible.

[ In Reply To ..]
People can rewrite history to minimize historical figures not in their favor. It doesn't change the truth.
Whoever wrote the bible didn't invent morality. - Morality isnt about having religion.
[ In Reply To ..]
It's about being a decent, caring person. Most people who swing their religion around like some kind of a holy baseball bat, claiming their "morals" are above everyone else's, know nothing whatsoever of morality.
Religion is not the same as spirituality. The Bible is the - inspired word of God, not men.
[ In Reply To ..]
Morality came from the Ten Commandments.

You are free to choose to believe it or not. That's the freedom part. In Shariah Law, you are not free to choose. You believe or die.
News Flash: The United States is not, and will - never be, under Shariah law.
[ In Reply To ..]
When I do good, I feel good. - When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion
[ In Reply To ..]
-Abraham Lincoln

Morality does NOT come from the bible. The founding fathers of this republic did not EVER state that.

Morality can come from many books and most importantly, it comes from within!

The Golden Rule, as the pope mentioned, is the best guide to morality and even animals get it. Morality does NOT need religion.
Abraham Lincoln was not a founding father. - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Okay, so give me a quote from a - founding father then
[ In Reply To ..]
You can't because there are none.

The founding fathers, the early Americans were fleeing persecution and seeking religious freedom. They had seen what happened when religion is mandated or proscribed by govt and they wanted no part of it, so there is absolutely nothing to this claim the bible has anything to do with our founding fathers.

Morality does not only come from religion, in fact many so-called Christians on the far right are nothing but hate mongers. You do NOT need to be religious to be moral and our govt does NOT need religious riders on everything to be valid. Now that would be like Sharia law!

Abraham Lincoln was right.
Morality comes from the Ten Commandments. Our laws are - based on this. You shall not steal, kill,
[ In Reply To ..]
etc. Moses received the Law from God on Mt. Sinai. You are free to chose to believe this or not.

I can provide many leaks from what our founders said and their relationship with God and the founding of this country. George Washington has a famous picture with him kneeling and praying to God during the Revolutionary War.
Yes, but our laws are based on the Constitution. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Not the Ten Commandments or the Bible. The US is not a theocracy.
It's doesnot have to be a theocracy. That's like Iran or Shariah law, believe or - be killed or jailed. Our rights come from God,
[ In Reply To ..]
not the govt.

You have the right not to believe it. You will not be beheaded if you do not submit. That's Shariah.
Christians used to crucify people and burn - them at the stake. Just as bad.

So people had no morals before the bible was written? - Then who wrote the bible? A chimpanzee?
[ In Reply To ..]
The Golden Rule comes from the Bible. - Matthew 7:12
[ In Reply To ..]

So where in the Golden Rule does it state... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
"Do unto others unless they're gay, liberal, or non-Christian?"
If you are trying entrapment, it doesn't work that way. I - can disagree with your behavior but still
[ In Reply To ..]
treat you with respect. We were given the ability to discern or judge behaviors.

Just because a person disagrees with gay marriage doesn't mean they thing less of the person as an individual. But certain behaviors are mentioned in the Bible, along with adultery and others.

Entrapment? Seriously? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Since when does asking a question constitute "entrapment." Good grief.
It was a leading question. The intent was not to inform but to - entrap.
[ In Reply To ..]
xx
So asking a question about something that you - prefer not to answer is "entrapment"?
[ In Reply To ..]
Wow. Tell us more. It sounds like you're operating on a whole different set of legal principles than the rest of us.
Umm, I think the golden rule is something so - universal it is in many laws and religions
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't really think the Bible gets to claim authorship. It is an elemental rule of living with others that even animals get, that combined with live and let live is the way the most successful models of society coexist with each other.

I think the two tenets which today's "Christianity" has a problem with are the golden rule and live and let live. They just can't do it. They must judge judge judge and that is what they see as their mission.

I see Sharia law and "Christianity" (Kim Davis kind of stuff) as behavioral guides for both these groups, but BOTH must adhere to our rules.

They can get their behavior from their religion but our law is ultimately the rule whether they like it or not, so if their behavior is against our law they will be prosecuted.
Ummm, this is the problem with human reasoning. It is - hostile toward God. Believe what you
[ In Reply To ..]
like.
Hostile toward God, really? How can the golden - rule and live and let live
[ In Reply To ..]
be hostile to God?

It is what he taught through Jesus, right?

Human reasoning is what our forefathers used to create what they believed was "a more perfect union."
Romans 8:7 - nm

The problem is, most bible-thumpers don't - know how to reason. sm
[ In Reply To ..]
They want someone or something (in this case a fantasy book) to tell them what to do.
Most religious fanatics' perception of a "god" - is hostile to most of humanity.
[ In Reply To ..]
That's the problem. These so-called "godly" people use their religion as a veil to hide their true intentions.
The golden rule originates in men's hearts, - not in some fairytale book.
[ In Reply To ..]
Well put. That's my "religion", too. Also - - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
you submit or die.

Oh please. You really think we're going to have - burkas & beheadings here?

[ In Reply To ..]
Some people scare too easily.

Yeah, that state is somewhere in the middle east - NOT the US and never will be

[ In Reply To ..]
It's not a competition between Allah and God, whatever any idiotic religion says the laws of our govt are the ultimate authority.

Sharia law has absolutely NO chance of invading anything here! Honestly, Muslim/Christian is a false dichotomy, the only law that applies in this country is the law.

Republicans are not doing advocating anthing as a national religion. - Saying we were founding on Judeo-Christian

[ In Reply To ..]
principles is not advocating a national religion, it's just stating our founding and morals came from that.

Happiness comes from living a virtous life. Socialism is - equal distribution of misery.

[ In Reply To ..]
Government does have a role, but that role has been expanded so much that it's almost in another galaxy at this point.

Our founding and morals came from the belief - that people are free to CHOOSE - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
what religion they want to believe, and whether or not they want to believe in any religion at all.
If that is inherent and invented by people, then why - does it have to be taught?
[ In Reply To ..]
Morality came from the Bible. It's a blueprint or manual for how to treat people and your relationship with God.

I'm not going to argue or try to convince you otherwise. You are free to choose what you want. In Shariah Law you are not free to choose. You submit or die.
Morality can be taught without teaching religion. - In fact, it would be better that way.
[ In Reply To ..]

"Shariah Law does not scare me as much as..." Are you - aware they kill gays, mercy killings

[ In Reply To ..]
for daughters who are raped?

Yeah, those darn Christians.

This sounds like extreme right-wing fear mongering to me. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Do you have facts from a reputable source to back this up? I googled, and all I came up with were questionable right-wing and conspiracy theory web sites.

Time will tell, won't it? - NM

[ In Reply To ..]
The pat liberal answer when things don't go their way is to counter with saying conservatives are paranoid, extreme, etc. Go for it if it makes you feel better. The truth will soon be obvious if your president gets his way.

I suppose so. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
If living in fear and negativity makes you feel better, go for it. Doesn't sound like a great way to live, IMO.
State the obvious. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
No one is talking about living in fear. It's called reporting information. Good grief.
So-called information. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
There's nothing to back up the assertion that a majority of US Muslims favor sharia law over the Constitution. Just because you read it on the internet doesn't make it true.
Do your research. - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
The information is out there. Just because you don't like the source doesn't mean it's not legitimate. Have a pleasant evening. 😌
I did do my research. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
There are nothing but conspiracy-theory web sites and extremist right-wing blogs that state that a majority of US Muslims support sharia (correct spelling) law over the Constitution. I refuse to live in fear because of the paranoid fantasies of a vocal minority.
Who cares if it is spelled Shariah or sharia? - LOL
[ In Reply To ..]
It's spelled both ways all over the place. Really, that's all you've got?

LOL

P.S. According to the forum rules, there is no place for the spelling police here.

This is downright frightening. Why do they come here then, if they love - Shariah Law. It's not compatible

[ In Reply To ..]
with our Constitution.

They move here fleeing the dumps they came from and then try to convert America into what they fled from.

Honestly... why lose any sleep over something - that is NOT gonna happen?

The Bizarre Notion That Muslims Must Become A MajorityJul 16, 2016

OK, somebody has to say it. It’s uncomfortable and it makes whoever says it open to being called a “Pharisee,” a “homophobe,” a “bigot,” a sanctimonious hater, a benighted troglodyte, or worse.
