Obama: Europe should better integrate Muslims.

Posted: Jan 16, 2015

These communities distinctly do NOT WANT to be integrated.  They want to set up mini-states - or, literally, mini-caliphates - within the host countries, where Sharia law prevails, where the imams rule, where they literally have their own "police force", where the language of the host country is not spoken, and where citizens and even emergency services of the host country are not welcome to enter.  There are literally hundreds of these mini-states now in Europe, and integration - except for wanting jobs, of course - is the last thing these people want.

Tell us, Barry.  What color is the sky in your fantasy world?

The no-go communities have already been - debunked

People wonder why Americans are not respected abroad. It is their lack of education and where they obtain their education.

Not true. - SM

No-go zones are alive and well in Belgium, France and other European countries. Emerson, a buffoon, was only referring to England in his blunder.

I thought no questioning sources - or is that just right wing ones?
[ In Reply To ..]
I would counter with Fox News, The Heritage Foundation, "natural" news, dailycaller, breitbart, etc., ad nauseam, being "not the place to look for reliable info."

Please, right-wingers, you are the ones who always complain about us lefties questioning sources and you make the moderator come down hard on us, so at the very least you can follow your own rules.
Whereas, there may be bias on some info - from any source, sometimes
[ In Reply To ..]
facts are just facts.
I do not disagree with this, but it is NOT a fact - that Media Matters is not reliable
[ In Reply To ..]
It is an opinion, just like it is my opinion that Fox News and those other sources are not reliable.

If you are not the poster who said Media Matters was not reliable, what exactly are you saying then?

I think those Snopes, Politifact, etc., types of sites do serve the purpose of somewhat debunking these manufactured talking point type stories that go around, so is that what you mean?
Just trying not to get further into the source - attack. Really should have

said that if a person doesn't like MediaMatters, on this one, try the other 100 or so that are now covering the same issue. I have no problem with Media Matters, particularly, when they reference other sources within their own articles.

This no-go thing has busted wide open. Don't think it matters if it is MediaMatters source.

Looking back through the posts above, there is not - even a Media Matters link
[ In Reply To ..]
That I can see, anyway.

Fox had to retract, apologize, yet some are still pushing that no-go thing (Jindal for instance).

I agree that the truth will out, yet unfortunately, for those that stubbornly hold onto their ideology, they find apparently secret sources of their own which appear to be sacrosanct (Bobby Jindal is cringeworthy in his blind insistence they exist - saying this to a journalist in the journalist's own country? Oh boy).

He is in denial because he can't admit he is a Muslim himself. - It's really quite clear.

theory is thick!

The president said he “came to my Christian faith later in life and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead — being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper, treating others as they would treat me. And I think also understanding that Jesus Christ dying for my sins spoke to the humility we all have to have as human beings, that we’re sinful and we’re flawed and we make mistakes, and that we achieve salvation through the grace of God. But what we can do, as flawed as we are, is still see God in other people and do our best to help them find their own grace.”

The president said “that’s what I strive to do. That’s what I pray to do every day. I think my public service is part of that effort to express my Christian faith.”

He sounds and acts like every other Christian out there, and that, my friends is all it takes to be a Christian, is to say you are one.

To me he sounds and acts much better - than most who call themselves Christian

[ In Reply To ..]
He walks the walk. It is really not about going to church and judging others.

Between President Obama and Pope Francis there are no two better examples of how to truly live as Christians.

I am a nonbeliever, yet I respect the example of how Jesus lived as a man and try to follow that, and I believe President Obama truly follows the tenets of Christianity in his life.

As Mahatma Gandhi said, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

held a joint presser where counterterrorism was a prime focus. The president said the response to recent terrorist attacks should not be confined to security crackdowns.

Cameron and Obama both acknowledged the importance and benefits of successful assimilation. While recognizing how vulnerability to militant cells, both here and abroad, calls for vigilance, the president asserted that the greater US Muslim population also identifies as Americans. He added there are places in Europe where that may not be the case and mentioned the anomie French Muslims with ties to former French colonial North African roots say they feel could be mitigated by a more inclusive sense of French liberties.

Cameron cautioned that, even in the best of scenarios, the poisonous radical death cult narrative of militants that perverts the religion can still be powerfully seductive.

Difference between Islam/Islamic and Islamist - is significant

"We know what we're up against. And we know how we will win. We face a poisonous and fanatical ideology that wants to pervert one of the world's major religions, Islam, and create conflict, terror and death. With our allies, we will confront it wherever it appears."

"We will deploy additional intelligence and surveillance assets to help Iraqi forces on the ground, and we will ensure they are better trained and equipped to counter explosive devices. But most important of all, we must also fight this poisonous ideology starting at home."

"We do face a very serious Islamist extremist terrorist threat in Europe, in America, across the world. And we have to be incredibly vigilant in terms of that threat."

"It means countering this poisonous, fanatical death cult of a narrative that is perverting the religion of Islam."

"But here's, I think, the really determining point: You can have, tragically, people who have had all the advantages of integration, who've had all the economic opportunities that our countries can offer, who still get seduced by this poisonous, radical, death cult of a narrative."

o, let's never lose sight of the real enemy here, which is the poisonous narrative that's perverting Islam. That is what we have to focus on, recognizing that, of course,  we help ourselves in this struggle if we create societies of genuine opportunity, if we create genuine integration between our communities

as is the meaning of "perverting." Cameron obviously is drawing contexual distinctions between religion and political insurgency movements.  For example:  Islamist political ideology, is to Islam, the religion, as Zionism, the political ideology, is to Judaism, the religion. The shared goals of extreme Islamists and fanatical Zionists are to amass military forces, arm themselves to the hilt, declare wars, plunder and pillage, occupy territories, and subjugate unwilling populations, with the end-game of establishing nation states.  Their bloody serial aggressions TERRORIZE, imprison, torture, kill, maim, starve, deprive, separate and internally displace innocent civilians, and send large refugee populations fleeing into the diaspora. Those practices have absolutely NOTHING to do with spirituality, prayer, worship, holy books, God, Allah, Yaweh, the Umma, the Chosen People, rabbis, imams, hajis, saviors, prophets, their teachings or belief systems.

Regardless of what the "right" response says, Cameron was VERY PRECISE in making the same distinctions as President Obama.  Of note, Cameron did not once use the adjective "Islamic" when talking about extremism or terrorism.  This indicates a deliberate effort on his part to be on the same page with his allied leader, not to take "harder line" on terrorism as Fox is trying to claim.

Emphasis added for sake of discussion:

"We know what we're up against. And we know how we will win. We face a poisonous and fanatical  (Islamist) ideology that wants to PERVERT one of the world's major religions (a reference of respect), Islam, and create conflict, terror and death. With our allies, we will confront it wherever it appears."

"We will deploy additional intelligence and surveillance assets to help Iraqi forces on the ground, and we will ensure they are better trained and equipped to counter explosive devices. But most important of all, we must also fight this poisonous (Islamist) ideology starting at home."

"We do face a very serious Islamist extremist terrorist threat in Europe, in America, across the world. And we have to be incredibly vigilant in terms of that threat."

"It means countering this poisonous, fanatical  (Islamist) death cult of a narrative that is PERVERTING the religion of Islam."

"But here's, I think, the really determining point: You can have, tragically, people who have had all the advantages of integration, who've had all the economic opportunities that our countries can offer, who still get seduced by this poisonous, radical, (Islamist) death cult of a narrative.

"So, let's never lose sight of the real enemy here, which is the poisonous narrative that's PERVERTING Islam. That is what we have to focus on, recognizing that, of course,  we help ourselves in this struggle if we create societies of genuine opportunity, if we create genuine integration between our communities."

Pervert/verb

Alter (something) from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended.

"He was charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice"

Synonyms:  distort, corrupt, subvert, twist, bend, abuse, misapply, misuse, misrepresent, misinterpret, falsify
