This writer actually calls the one man's veto power a system of checks and balances? One arrogant man who should take a look at what happened nationwide tonight and realize it is a very clear message - the public is not happy with the job being done by the Democrats. This article is a joke and IT means nothing. tonight's results definitely say something and they say it pretty loudly and clearly.

I'd love to be wrong on this one. I'd love for the Republican party to quit wasting their time trying to undermine the "Kenyan" in the White House. I'd love for them to put their last few brain cells together and work on some plans to improve the country. Surely some of them must remember how to, well, actually do the job they were elected for.

But how many times did the Republicans in control of the House vote to repeal, defund, or dismantle the ACA instead of doing something useful? I quit paying attention after 30.

But hey, maybe they'll prove me wrong. Maybe they'll actually present some reasonable ideas on how to accelerate the economic growth we've enjoyed these past six years. Maybe they'll quit trying to insert themselves into women's health issues. Maybe they'll quit trying to mix their religion into government.

Maybe. But I doubt it.
First they need to learn to count to two. So far, - they think O. is a "1-term" president.

As much as people hate congress....and the polls show the disapproval rate for congress is extremely high....the American people have voted to change the power in the senate. Seems to me that the American people were clearly voting against Obama in this midterm election. That is the very opposite of nothing, IMO.

So very true - mbmt

The message to the White House should be patently loud and clear.

There is actually not really that strong a message - the mid term elections always go this way

[ In Reply To ..]
Historically, the mid term elections have very low Democrat turnout for some reasons and the Republicans always pick up seats and gain ground.

This really does mean nothing. The House has been in Republican control for a while now and they've accomplished...well, let me think now...yeah, that's right. Nothing. I have no reason to believe that having the Senate have a majority of Republicans will be any different.

Geez, did ya ever think that what the House passed was - Truthhurts

blocked by the Senate? Who controlled the Senate???? Only the Dems and HARRY REID preached HIS political views (against the Senate Ethic Rules) every chance he got and blocked all bills from the House.

Harry Reid also CHANGED the voting rules when it suited him only on Dem-sponsored or ones HE liked (or Obama told him to allow) so he could pass them.

This was a wake-up call for Obama, Reid, and the rest of the Dems in Congress. When you even have Dems running away from Obamacare or not wanting Obama to stump for them, that has to show you that they were running scared.

So, midterm, schmidterm. That's just an excuse. Face it. People were disgusted with the Dems. PERIOD. They saw some of Harry Reid's antics and saw Obama and Holder's racism and lawlessness and woke up.

No Change: McConnell Still Runs the Senate, Officially Again - Kentuckian

[ In Reply To ..]
IMO, regardless of party, anyone in the Senate longer than 5 years should have been voted out, last night, especially to include career politicians like Mitch McConnell AND Harry Reid.

They ALL helped make this mess, regardless of party, whether they admit it or not, or hope to deflect off that fact by finger-pointing.

I'm not an Obama fan anymore, but I still don't believe Obama made this mess all by himself, ladies.

And if you believe that, it means you bought the party PR strategy, hook, line, and sinker, just like sheep.

I cannot believe that as transcriptionists especially, you would EVER cheer on people like Mitch McConnell, who voted 3 times for tax breaks for companies that outsourced overseas!

You hate Obama so much you are willing to cut your own throats financially over it???

Alison Lundergan Grimes may not have been the best candidate, but she got one thing right: Party puppets and sheep (and their inability to think outside the party box) and their gridlocking each other so that nothing ever gets done is what's doing this country in, nothing else.

ADDENDUM:
As the responder to this post so politely pointed out; yes, I am aware that Senators are in office for 6 years.

I was referring to anyone already in the Senate before 2009, the year most economic analysts agree was the year we hit "rock bottom" economically.

I can see how it reads that way and apologize for any confusion, but proof I meant it this way was my referral to Mitch McConnell's voting for tax breaks for companies who outsourced overseas, which he did 3 times before 2008.

Anyone in Senate longer than 5 years voted out? - Uuum...senate terms are 6 years.

[ In Reply To ..]
This is why I despise our public school system.

I was referring to anyone in office before what analysts consider economic rock bottom, 2009 - - Kentuckian

[ In Reply To ..]
...which would be 5 years. Sorry that wasn't clear.

Now are there any points about my actual post you'd like to debate, or are you just going to nit-pick at unexpounded-upon points and typos so you can feel better superior?

Yes, I agree, the public school system is a sham, if all it taught us to do, especially on this forum, is focus on the details rather than the big picture, as well as use those things to maturely say "nanny nanny boo boo" to feel superior to others.

ADDENDUM:
I do like to consider valid points in all sides of an issue, even if presented to me in a presumptive, sanctimonious manner.

As such, I have added an addendum to the above post to clarify the badly-written first sentence, as I can see how she read it that way.

Good luck with that - feelin' good Commie

I heard this interview on CNN an hour or so ago, but here's a link.  Issa didn't go as far as to say they were drunk, just a strong insinuation, but LaTourette did.  So I guess that's the new desperate strategy/talking point of the House... throwing your own party under the bus. ...

The Bizarre Notion That Muslims Must Become A MajorityJul 16, 2016
Someone posted an (incorrect) analysis regarding the theoretical increase in the Muslim population in America.  It failed to take a number of factors into account and was slanted in a painfully obvious way toward her position, but that's not what I'm discussing here.
