;for a moment, if you insist. Most 21st century Americans recognize the act of cracking a whip on the backs of a slave owner's "property" as a horrific act of violence that dehumanizes the victim. Many of them also recognize the act of shooting someone through the heart as an even more horrific act of violence that not only dehumanizes the victim, but it also eliminates them from the face of the earth. In this comparison, the slave owner actually comes off as the lesser of the two evils, so the comparison of Zimmerman the killer to Slaveowner the cruel is actually a compliment. The dark discoloration his hat sweatband left across his forhead? The way he holds the reins? The expression of pleasure on his face? The haircut? Must be that terrifying ear ring.
