Is it just me? I just don't care about any of this anymore. -sm

Posted: Sep 2, 2013

I'm not close enough to retirement to retire, I am not making enough money working 2 jobs to pay my bills, but I just can't work up any concern for it.  If I lose my jobs I don't know what I'll do but I remain completely disinterested.  I may actually be depressed although I don't feel it.  Any thoughts?

;

I feel exactly the same way - I have never had a job

like this which seems to me like boring, repetitive factory work and we are now even treated like it, having to punch clocks and every keystroke monitored. I wondered if I was distracted and half asleep all the time because I was losing my mind or depressed, but I know now it is just this tedious job, because when I study and try learn new things I feel alive and happy again.

The best thing for me would be to get fired so I can pursue other things. I won't quit, because I want a shot at UE, so I feel trapped.

OMG you just described me! I just don't care anymore. I've been batting depression for SM - MT52

about a month. I usually can bounce back, but not this time. I think it is this tedious job, plus constant micromanaging. I feel like someone finds something wrong with every report I do. This sucks.

I keep thinking that it will get better, but it doesn't. I need my job, bust my butt for decent pay and at the same time think to myself, there is no way out, no light at the end of the tunnel may as well be dust in an urn......Yes, that's depression.
I finally got out, start next week. - sm

I was the same way and just decided to start applying EVERYWHERE for a job. I finally got one and I am so excited it's ridiculous, just to get out of the house and make an HOURLY wage that is totally dependent on me, not the MTSO, the doctors, the hospitals, etc.
I put out applications but I think it's the age thing. - Apathetic

I will tell you this by way of encouragement. I have a friend who is in her early 70s and her circumstances make it necessary for her to work. She works through temp agencies and always has some temp clerical job. She is not particularly good-looking, but she is smart, kind, ambitious and ready to work. She always manages to find the most interesting jobs. She does not see age as a deterrent at all. I wish you the very best of luck!
Thanks Old Pro, your posts always make me feel better. nm - MT56

I doubt it is an age thing. I have always submitted my resume and you don't have to be a genius to figure the years and see I am proudly 71 and never lack a job offer.

the banks, unemployment, Iraq, business, the weather, Dem or Repub, you name it.   Why?  Because none of it changes anything for the average citizen, you and me.  No matter what happens, or doesn't happen in Washington or on Wall Street, or the rest of the world for that matter, WE WILL REMAIN SCREWED.    Nothing left to do but sit back, watch, and try to laugh at all of it, cuz either way, WE LOSE. ...

Okay, I don't want to make this long, but if it is please bear with me, but I will not feel like going back and editing it. I am going to post a link below that I found to be interesting, and I hope you'll read and let me know what you think about it.  It is really making me think twice about politics.  I was raised in neither republican or democrat household.  I have no idea who my parents or grandparents supported.  Later in life as an adult I learned my mom was ...

Grocery List Anymore? Dec 02, 2009
More and more, people seem to just use cell phones at the store instead of using a list. We were at Krogers a little while ago, and encountered at least 20 people on cell phones while shopping, asking what to get, etc. All ages too, from teens to the elderly. Drives me nuts!!! ...

Can't Stand The View Anymore...is It Just Me?Jan 14, 2011
I don't know about you, but I think it's time for some changes on The View.  I think it's time for Joy and Barbara to go.  I like Barbara, but she has gotten a little to intrusive and interrupts too much, and goes on and on redundantly.  Joy...well, all she does is bash people.  It's funny how she calls herself a comedienne, but she's actually not.  Very few comedians left these days in my opinion....Ellen, Seinfeld, can't think of another&# ...

I Don't Need Anymore Bosses Bossing MeOct 19, 2012
I have had "bosses" cutting my wages and lettiing me "purchase" health insurance plans that basically don't pay for anything I need, all the while they outsource the work and give themselves bonuses for being so profitable.  So, now Romney is telling "the bosses" that it is okay and not illegal to tell your employees how to vote.  A couple of the richest Republican contributors, the Koch Brothers, sent their employees a list of people to vote for, or else they could "su ...

I am amazed how lies and innuendo can possibly steal an election.   1.  FBI director coming out and saying there might be a problem (but has not even seen the e-mails). 2.  The Birther's who wanted to disenfranchise our country's first black president.  3.  The Swiftboaters throwing manure on a Vietnam vet, Kerry.    (Makes me think of Trumps 'bone spur' that kept him out of the draft and Trump saying he doesn't like vets who get cau ...

American Idol Is So Lame AnymoreApr 20, 2011
This show and judges are such a bore now.  The judges say the same predictable stuff.  Its nothing without Simon.  ...and they love James Durbin, but when he screams that high note, its horrible... horrible.  My friend who teaches music noticed this too.  Listening to him on a CD would be painful.  Why cant people just sing well and that be good enough?  Its all about theatrics, screaming, being different, etc.  I used to love watching Idol.  I am don ...

Don't Boys Pay For Dates Anymore?!?! I Have A 16yo DaughterJul 07, 2016

Health Care Reform-Question About Canadian Health CareDec 03, 2009
So....a friend is for our US health care reform (already retired and on Medicare) because he had no trouble going to Canada to get laser surgery on his eyes so he wouldn't have to wear glasses and states there is nothing wrong with the Canadian system....but, and I'm asking a serious question here, how long do people really wait for emergent surgery if they belong to the Canadian system versus the American system as we have it now? How did Canada get their health care system up and ru ...

Democrats’ Talking Points: We Can’t Pass Legislation Anymore, Despite MajorityJan 21, 2010
By Raw StoryWednesday, January 20th, 2010 -- 3:24 pm Democrats have conceded they can no longer pass healthcare on their own, ensuring that their key legislative reform either dies or accepts further compromises to gain approval from Republican members. What's more, they've decided to outline their case to the public through a set of talking points issued to Democrats after Tuesday's election upset in Massachusetts. Their meme? "It is mathematically impossible for Democrats to ...

Wen Hair Care?Apr 15, 2012
Battling insomnia last night, I watched an infomercial for this product and the thought behind it makes sense to keep one's hair at its healthiest (especially if platinum blond, like I currently am). Has anyone tried Wen and, if so, what did you think of it?  I currently use organic products but keep thinking this might be a better option to keep my hair in semi-decent condition, considering how I abuse it with bleach, straightening tools, etc. ...

JUST IMAGINE What Happens If O'care IsOct 15, 2013
The ROGUE GOP can be best explained by this:  Just IMAGINE what happens if O'care is not a disaster, and is even a mild success. and Obama is RIGHT to  stand his ground - let it be (part of) his legacy, fail or succeed.   And if he lets them DISMANTLE it before it is even implemented then THAT would be his legacy.  That he was not willing to take it to the mat.   ...
