Where do you stand?

More and more Americans receive government assistance of some kind whether it be WICC, food stamps, disability, welfare, Medicaid, Medicare, etc. Not to mention the illegal aliens in our country who are costing our country money as well. We are consistently spending more money than we bring in. Our nation’s deficit is over $14 trillion dollars. Taxing the wealthy more will not even cover our current costs…let alone our debt. If we ran our lives or business like our government is run, we’d be bankrupt and/or in jail. So what can we do? Do we continue the same path and hope the economy gets better and we can somehow afford all these entitlement programs OR do we try and reform some of this stuff? So where do you stand?

Obama is following the doctrine of Keynesian economics, i.e. spend your way out of financial crisis. Just as you can't do this with your family budget, it doesn't work on a national scale either. (Keynesian economics has been a proven failure in EVERY country it has been tried in.)

Of course we can't afford this so we need reform desperately. But since the PLAN is to drive this country into the ground, don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

We really can't hope the economy will get better. The "hope and change" thing is a joke, and the American people were scammed. They know it too - November 2010 was proof of that.

I can't be convinced that a town, city, state, or country can tax their way to prosperity. If someone can point me to a place where that has worked, I'd love to know more about it.

We need to stop the spending. Ryan's plan may not be the answer, but it's a starting point. He's on the right track. I have yet to see the plan that Dems have to bring us to a level of prosperity again. All I hear is that the Republicans hate seniors and children. Name-calling doesn't solve the serious issues we have in this country. It's childish and many Americans don't have the stomach for that kind of politics any longer.

I am definitely challenged when it comes to knowing if something looks right. I'm thinking of getting a new flat screen television and the one I have in mind is about 10 inches longer than the stand I have. I love my stand and matching tables and want to keep it/them. I never see TVs longer than stands in ads and in displays. I don't want to buy it, get it home and set up only to find I really hate it that it is longer than the stand. Anybody care to offer ...

I received a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for Xmas and I am thrilled, but any time I try to make a risen dough, bread, pizza crust, etc., they do not rise sufficiently and seem tough.
