Jobs improvement under Obama

It still hurts because 4.5 million jobs were lost BEFORE Obama took office.  Job growth is what is called a "lagging economic indicator"  (one of last to fall in a recession, and one of the last to grow in the rebound period)

The article states Michigan lost more jobs under Obama than Bush. Funny, I live in Michigan and new jobs have been created in the past several months and plants that had been previously closed are reopening. Hmmm.... But, I'm sure I don't know anything just because I live here.

These figures are as of Nov 10. Perhaps if they run them again... - sam

in another 90 days the Michigan numbers will change. These are the facts in the ground now; maybe the jobs added you are talking about won't be counted until the numbers are run again.

The point is, broad economic numbers don't tell the whole story. Actual job losses and the numbers of people still out of work tell the story.

I feel sure what you are saying is true, you have no reason to lie, do you? Maybe the Michigan numbers will change in coming months to reflect the people going back to work that you are seeing.

I am glad for your state it is happening. Good for you.

Okay, then broad economic numbers you are always throwing out don't tell the whole story either. When people post regarding something that differs than what you post, you respond by saying they are wrong and throw something back that says something that differs from them. You are correct in the fact that economic numbers don't always tell the whole story. Maybe you should take that into consideration when you throw around facts and figures you "Google."

You are also correct that real life is more of a fact-telling story and the fact is that things are getting better here in Michigan since the fall-out of the Bush regime. I can tell you in real life that things got worse then and you can't fix a broken country overnight. Things take time. I'm sure you will come back and tell me that the Democrats had control when Bush was in office. The fact is he was the president and leader of our country. He bullied congress into invading Iraq, which was a giant lie, as we all know. That invasion cost us many lives and a huge cost and that is what started this whole thing. That is my real-life story.

Why would you even ask me if I have a reason to lie? Not a very nice question to ask. Things are getting better here in Michigan and it has nothing to do with the Republicans. We still have a Democratic Governor. We did get stimulus money and many projects are happening right now because of it. Also, the auto industry is picking up a bit. Things are still not perfect, but they are improving.

I don't appreciate being questioned on my trustworthiness when stating something just because your article says different. I live here!
Sigh. I was not insinuating anything. - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
I, silly me, was conceding that maybe the figures would be different in a few months and what you were seeing would be reflected then. I did not realize that you are one of those who think the Republicans are your enemy, everything bad that has ever happened to you is all Bush and the Republicans' fault. YOu absolutely will not hear anything else. You are so filled with animosity you don't even realize someone is sympathizing with your viewpoint.

Fact is, more jobs lost under Obama.

You need to let go of that Bush hatred. He's been gone a long time. It's not healthy.

I am going to step in and call you on this, Sam - Your post did not need to go beyond
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know if it is condescending or a personal projection, but it is an attack. Was it necessary?
With all due respect, it was not an attack. - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
the last line of the post was something to the effect of "but I guess I don't know anything, I just live here" which indicated to me that she probably thought someone would think she was lying. My response was, I don't think you are lying, you would not have any reason to lie.

I am sorry if that is not your interpretation. I am sorry it was not the poster's interpretation. I think, again with all due respect, it is just another case of shooting the messenger, and you are so biased where I am concerned what I say does not matter, you are convinced I was attacking.

If you looked at it objectively you possibly could see that I was not. Had another poster posted the same thing I did, the original poster, nor you, would have reacted the same way.

So, I am calling YOU out. You demonize me just like you demonize anyone who is not a Democrat. This is just another example of it.

Can we stop beating this dead horse now?
Sigh - sm

My original post regarding your post had to do with the facts in Michigan. I brought up the pubs and dems when stating that things got worse here with Bush in office, because I knew you would blame the dems for it. I actually blame Bush, personally, not party-wise, for what happened to our country. If you don't want to believe that, that is your right. The fact is, you are obsessed with putting Obama down and anytime anybody says anything good about him, you get all nasty and call him names, the person who posted it names, the democrats names, etc. Again, my post had nothing to do with the republican party, just the fact that Michigan is seeing good things going on and that Bush, in my opinion was the downfall of this country, not Obama. We have auto jobs opening up, we have road construction because of the stimulus money, we have windpower projects going on, we have a battery plant for cars going up. All these are happening now, since Obama is in office. I pointed out that we have a democratic governor, because you are the one that is hell-bent on knocking the democrats for everything.

Then, you make a cocky statement insinuating that I might have a reason to lie. Well, you are the one that has the problem, not me. Everytime somebody says something that does not agree with you, you start pointing fingers at them and saying rude things and making them look bad. You need to look in the mirror and learn how to disagree with people without putting them down personally, which you do all the time.

Look at the last line of your original post.... - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
you said something to the effect of "but what do I know, I just live here." That said to me that you would think someone would automatically think you were lying. So I said why would you lie, you have no reason to lie. That is the whole horrible story. I was trying to reassure you that I did not think you were being truthful. I mean, why end your post with that kind of line unless you automatically thought someone (and obviously that someone was me) was going to assume you did not know what you were talking about. I was actually agreeing with you and you won't even let me do that, that is the depth of your prejudice.

You, with all due respect, need to follow the posts. If I am rude to anyone, it is because they were rude to me. I never start a thread with rudeness. Look at the threads. I will post something, then the attacks start, and not a ONE of them will have a counterpoint, just personal potshots. Of course, you will have to let go of your hatred of all things not Democrat to see that.

I invite you to find a post where I called Obama any name other than a Democrat...or a socialist...which he is. I have seen Bush called MUCH MUCH worse.

You really, really need to get a handle on all this anger. You have lost all objectivity. Again....you need to let go of that Bush hatred. Narrowing all that animosity on one person is NOT healthy.

just saying - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You posted a link comparing Bush and Obama, so why would you get mad if I gave you my opinion on Bush?
You know I am not the one who was mad. - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
and honestly, your posts went past mad. It didn't make ME mad, it made me concerned. He is long since gone and yes, I don't understand the lingering hatred the left, and apparently you, has for Bush. I was certainly not thrilled with everything he did and he is not my favorite person on the planet, but I do not blame him for things I know he is not responsible for.

I don't hate Obama either. I am sure he is a pretty nice fella and he has a beautiful family and a cute dog like a lot of other Americans. However, I think he has a socialist ideology and wants to fundamentally change America (like he said he did) into something I, as an American, don't want. I don't hate him for it, doesn't mean I will sit idly by anymore and give him free rein to do so. The only way I can change outcome is at the polls.

The difference is...I dislike a political ideology that he supports..well that the far left Democratic party along with him supports. I don't hate the MAN. Your post seemed to focus on George Bush, the man, and you have some pretty intense feelings and I guess you really do feel he is responsible for all the wrong things that have happened to you and to the country. I get what you are saying, just don't understand it.

You can post whatever you want...I just really wish you could move on from a paralyzing hatred of George Bush and not transfer that onto anyone who is not a Democrat.

I think we are at the beating the dead horse point again. Believe it or not, I wish you well.

It doesn't say where you got the chart from. But from the statement below it says 4.5 million jobs were lost before Obama took office. When were these jobs lost? All in one year, over 2, 3 or 4 or during the whole 8 years Bush was in office. Does it include the Clinton years before then. A starting and ending point would be good to have a frame of reference.

If you are claiming the jobs lost during Obamas reign are Bush's fault, a search shows that manufacturing jobs started declining three years before Bush took office (under Clinton's term). Thank you NAFTA.

All I know is the jobs lost while each president is in office is credited to them. So far under this president (and the last 2 years of a democrat congress/house) more jobs have been lost, and according to BLS that's the most since 1940.

And unemployment keeps rising. No jobs are being created. Unemployment is higher than what they are reporting because many people (like my DH) is unemployed but not getting benefits, and many ICs are out of work but can't draw unemployment.

This post just doesn't make sense to me. All I know is the economy is bad and getting worse.

Yes, jobs were lost BEFORE Obama took office - which proves that

the tax breaks for the rich did NOT work. It seems they took the riches they got with the tax cut and just pocketed them.

Regardless, why do they want to extend something that definitely did NOT work during the Bush years?

If anything proves that the Republicans are in bed with the rich, their insistance on continuing the tax cuts is it.

Why people vote against their own interests is beyond me.

Repairing The Job Machine (More Jobs Under Obama Than Bush?)May 15, 2010
More jobs might be created this year than during George W. Bush's presidency. by Ronald Brownstein Saturday, May 15, 2010     If the economy produces jobs over the next eight months at the same pace as it did over the past four months, the nation will have created more jobs in 2010 alone than it did over the entire eight years of George W. Bush's presidency. That comparison comes with many footnotes and asterisks. But it shows how the economic debate between the parties ...
