Today I started training for a part-time job - very part-time....in a mailroom. It's not even SORTING mail...it's DOUBLE-CHECKING mail. Yes, after medical transcription, all I had to LEARN to get up to speed, all my thousands of macros, memorization, search stuff online like a demon, etc...I took a very part-time job in a mailroom.
Besides my other job...plus Mechanical Turk! Plus selling stuff at craft shows/eBay that kind of thing.
So, following the principle of "when it rains it pours," I got a call back, to interview for a good job, job security, etc. (although the pay isn't THAT great). And I'm realizing...I might just want to stick with the crazy "spinning plates in the air" juggler type job situation...with multiple jobs...rather than commute 5 days week, have to be "on," professional, etc.
Because although I am stressed out with all my crazy "little" jobs, not secure, etc - I'm not DEPRESSED. That black pit of depression, that feeling of "this is my life, and I'm giving it away, wasting it way, doing THIS......."
So I just had to say this. Do what's right for YOU, in your total situation - if something won't work for you, because it will be hellishly depressing, make you feel powerless (even though everyone around you would be so happy, proud, etc for you to have that job), then DON'T do it. You might have to for financial reasons...but if you can make a go of it financially with something else that is tolerable, even enlivening...though less social status, less prestige...then do that something else. Life is to short to be miserable (even if everyone approves of you).
