Obama does NOT want to create new jobs

Posted: Oct 23, 2012

Obama ‘Punting’ on New EPA Rules Until Post-Election A new report from Senate Republicans warns that the Obama administration and the EPA are delaying implementation of painful new regulations until after the election. The report from the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works’ Minority Staff, “A Look Ahead to EPA Regulations for 2013,” points to a “slew of job-killing EPA regulations that the Obama-EPA has put on hold until after the election but will be on the ‘to-do’ list for 2013.” “As the economy has continued to falter over the past year, team Obama has been delaying rule after rule that will eliminate American jobs, drive up the price of gas at the pump even more, impose construction bans on local communities, and essentially shut down American oil, natural gas, and coal production. They don’t want this economic pain to hit American families just before the election because it would cost President Obama votes.” The report goes on to state: “It’s pretty clear that if President Obama secures a second term, the Obama-EPA will have a very busy next four years, moving full speed ahead to implement numerous major rules and regulations that he has delayed or punted due to the upcoming election. “The radical environmental left may not need to worry, but what about American families, who are working hard in tough economic times, trying to make ends meet? “As the nation struggles to recover from a lagging economy in the coming year, Americans could also be grappling with a regulatory onslaught from the Obama-EPA that will strangle economic growth, destroy millions of jobs, and dramatically raise the price of goods, the cost of electricity, and the price of gas at the pump.” The “punted” regulations include: • Greenhouse gas rules that will “virtually eliminate coal as a fuel option for future electric power generation,” and inflict new permitting costs on more than 37,000 farms. • New ozone standards that would cost $90 billion a year. • Regulations on hydraulic fracturing that will have “serious impacts on domestic energy production.” • Expansion of federal control “over virtually every body of water in the United States, no matter how small.” • Storm water regulations that could include “mandates on cities to change existing buildings, storm water sewers, and streets.” • Reductions in the sulfur content in gasoline that could boost prices by 9 cents a gallon. • Clean Water Act rules that “could require expensive new construction at power plants to lower fish deaths.” Other regulations would affect coal ash, farm dust, oil and gasoline spill prevention, and more. “This report is a wake-up call on the economic pain that the ‘abusive’ Obama-EPA plans to inflict next year,” said Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, ranking member on the committee. “It reveals a president who is more concerned about saving his own job than the millions of Americans who are looking for one today.” ;

You state Obama does not want to create jobs and then named a bunch of regulations that he supposedly wants to put in place. Two different subjects.

Then you state "republicans" warn...Well that just makes me believe it then.

On the Greenhouse gas point, farmers get paid to have windmills on their farms, they don't pay.
New ozone rules. Oh my God, he wants to make our air cleaner.
fracking causes earthquakes and poisons water.
Less sulfur in our gas, how dare he.
Clean Water Act to affect coal ash, farm dust, oid and gas spill prevention. What are they thinking.

How dare those abusive Obama EPA guys!

Sounds to me like the president is quite concerned about us, unlike the pubs who want to poison our air and water and destroy our planet more. There are plenty of jobs to be created with these regulations and green energy.

Are you serious? - JC

[ In Reply To ..]
Obama is about controlling others. These regulations barely make a dent in the world climate. China and India pump out more pollutants into our environment than we ever can. And if you don't believe it makes its way to the US you are crazy. The jet stream and currents carry these pollutants all over the world.

I am a conservative and I hate pollution probably more than you do. But these policies barely make a dent in pollution but kill so many jobs.

Obama only cares about one thing - himself. Listen to his speeches, he uses "I" more times than any other president in my lifetime.

Obama wants gas prices to up. He wants electricity to be more expensive. He stated that on many occassions before he got elected. The problem is we need to address the economy before we tackle these other issues.

Obama could have done anything in his first two years. Democrats controlled the house and the sentae. Instead of focusing on the economy and illegal immigration he forced the stimulus and Obamacare down our throats. Not one Republican was allowed to provide input into either and no Republicans voted for either. When he had a job summit he did not include one person from the private sector. You are in denial. Obama doesn't know how to grow the economy. The economy is growing in spite of Obama, not because of Obama.

I'm quite - serious

[ In Reply To ..]
First off, don't tell me you hate pollution more than I do. Not saying you don't, but don't claim to more than me.

You need to do a little more research. China leads us in renewable energy and we are lagging behind. India is also taking great strides towards green energy.

I for one am glad for Obamacare and glad he fought for it. Our economy is finally getting better after the Bush disaster and it is because of Obama. I think you are the one in denial.
Serious doesn't mean that you are right - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
I can claim whatever I want just like you just did.

The Chinese lead in renewable energy because of Obama's policies. They plan on selling it to us and killing jobs here. Solyndra went bankrupt because the Chinese are making it cheaper. Touche.

India is making strides but that doesn't mean they don't pollute significantly more than we do.

Instead of trying to take control of our health care system (and there is a lot in that bill that has absolutely nothing to do with health care), why couldn't we just target those without insurance? We could have provided subsidies to them. Obamacare creates so many new bureaucracies and impossible to follow regulations. There are thousands of regualtions that have been written already and thousands to follow.

There are two things Bush did to counteract his tax policies. He allowed spending to skyrocket and he didn't present a good enough case to control Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac which caused the housing collapse (between promoting subprime mortgages and selling these subprime mortgages on the stock market as A+ investments).
Let me - get
[ In Reply To ..]
this straight. It's Obama's fault the Chinese are leading us in using renewable energy in their country. That is quite funny. Actually, Obama and the Democrats are trying to get policies to even up fair trade and the pubs keep pushing them down. If the pubs would work with them on getting these policies for fair trade going, we would bring jobs back here, but they are more interested in making him look bad. Face it, the pubs are for making the oil companies richer and don't care about our air and water or our jobs. Touche.

I didn't say India is ahead of us, but they are working on it and will pass us up soon too if the pubs have their way. Then the world can say that we are polluting the world.

Greed of the rich corporations in this country are ruining it, not Obama.

On Bush, you forgot to add that he invaded two countries, also, that we are still involved in, though trying to get out of. Iraq was, again, due to oil.

Lol on your healthcare remarks. Give subsidies to the ones without insurance only. The pubs want freebies taken away, so how would that work? I'm not saying Obamacare is perfect, but it is a start and am glad it passed.
I am against greed but you are implying all companies are greedy - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
The Chinese only do what works for them. They don't care about the environment as much as you think they do. The products they produce are in response to what countries like us will buy.

Did you know that GM (who received $20 billion in bailout money) is looking to open plants in China?

As for making oil companies richer, what do you think a company is? It is made of employees, stockholders, and bond holders. The more money a company makes the more money they can pay their employees or hire more employees, the more money they can pay their stockholders (a lot of pensions are invested in these companies), and the sooner they can pay off their debt. Oil companies have lower profit margins than Microsoft, Apple, etc. Why aren't you going after these "greedy" companies?

I am not a big fan of the Democrats or the Republicans. Prior to Obama, Democrats spent and used taxes to pay for the spending. Republicans used debt to pay for the spending. Now with Obama, we have someone that wants to raise taxes and use debt to pay for the spending. The worst of both worlds.

I will tell you this about Bush invading two countries, I am not 100% on board the way the war was conducted, but BOTH parties were for the wars at the time. The wars were about terrorism but obviously oil was considered in the whole equation. If terrorists interrupted our oil supplies it would have been catastrophic.

So you think 2,000 pages of legalize controlling our healthcare is a good thing? The constitution was under 20 pages.

You want more government involvement in our lives and I want less. There is a place for government but Obama has more than crossed the line. He has made new lines and crossed every one of them. Instead of more laws and regulations, why don't we just vigorously enforce the ones in place? Instead of going after companies, we should go after the bad actors in the company that commit the crimes. The penalties should be harsh. Going after the company only adds to the cost we pay for things or results in people losing jobs, etc.

I am against freebies. I think all government assistance should have strings attached that pushes people towards self sufficiency.

I think most politicians are greedy for power and spending translates into power. Most politicians could care less about us. You are delusional if you think Obama really cares about you. Obama has a half brother living in a hut - Obama hasn't helped him.
Alleluia - xx

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

It sounds like there are going to be a LOT of new jobs, and all in a rapidly growing industry.

If you are referring to government as the industry, I would agree - JC

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think people realize that government spending is included in the calculation of the gross domestic product (GDP). The only reason the gross domestic product was over 1% in Obama's first two years was because of the massive increase in government spending. I would rather the GDP was because of private sector spending. That would mean that we as individuals were deciding what to spend our money on instead of Big Brother.

So, would you rather - RC

just keep doing the same thing?

Sometimes you have to stick your neck out to make a difference. I personally am SICK of the oil consumption in this country. It's gone on long enough.
You act like oil comes of thin air - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
Do you even realize how much petroleum is used for? Plastics is a big one. Oil is from nature. I think we humans are so full of ourselves if we think we can destroy this planet. We can wipe out the human race and all other species and the planet will still be here. All this scare about carbon dioxide emissions is silly. Carbon dioxide is necessary for all plants. If we eliminated all carbon dioxide plants would die. Who gets to determine the acceptable level of carbon dioxide - Obama?

The problem is not the consumption of oil. It is that we are not utilizing our oil reserves. Just think, if we produced all of our own oil, even it if didn't reduce oil prices, all of the jobs of producing oil would be here in the US and all of these people would be paying income taxes. That would go a long way in reducing the deficit.

If you are sick of oil consumption - don't drive a car ever, don't use plastic products ever, don't buy any products where oil was used in the product or to produce the product ever. Then I will say you are being true to your statement.
I disagree with you. - RC
[ In Reply To ..]
Your reply is a bit extreme, don't you think? How about being realistic about things?

We CAN have green energy. The only way to get there is to just start doing it.

If you want to keep things just the way they are, that's your prerogative. Some of us think it's outdated and needs to change.
That's the beauty of this country we can disagree without killing each other - JC
[ In Reply To ..]
I will be for green energy when it is more economically viable for us less than rich people.

There will come a time when the technology is cheaper but it isn't now. The government borrowing money to support many green companies that fail is not the way to go. Once the consumers start to demand it, the private sector will provide it. The government forcing it to happen does not make it happen any sooner.

Some of the proposals have consequences like increasing the mileage requirments on cars. Right now, the main way to increase gas mileage is to make the metals thinner or use ligher parts. This means that in an accident we are more likely to be hurt or killed. There will come a time when we can produce a lightweight product that is stronger than steel but we are not there yet.

More jobs might be created this year than during George W.
