President Obama asks Congress to create US jobs
Posted: Feb 18, 2012
Bloomberg reports the following: (Now if he just had some help from the Republican House and dead-locked Senate)
President Barack Obama urged Congress to enact tax proposals that reward technology companies and other businesses that help create jobs in the U.S. rather than overseas.
Boeing Co., whose Everett, Washington, jet factory Obama visited yesterday, has âput thousands of folks to work all over the country,â Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. âWe want to see more of this. We need to make it as easy as we can for our companies to create more jobs in America. And that starts with our tax code.â
Obama said U.S. businesses created 3.7 million new jobs over the past 23 months, adding, âCompanies like Boeing are realizing that even when we canât make things cheaper than China, we can make things better. Thatâs how weâre going to compete globally.â
âNo company should get a tax break for outsourcing jobs,â Obama said. He urged helping âmanufacturers who set up shop here at home,â particularly technology companies. âAnd Congress should send me that kind of tax reform right away.â
The address also is airing a day after Obamaâs advisers said in an annual White House report to Congress that they expect the U.S. economy will gain strength this year and add 2 million jobs.
A âplausible rangeâ for the average unemployment rate this year would be between 8 percent and 8.6 percent, the report said, citing private forecasters.

Oh, and where was this "plan" of his in 2009, 2010, and 2011, hmm? It's a few years TOO LATE. I'm certain that Boeing will reopen its plant now in the wake of this "exciting, important "news!" (not!)

Rick's insistence on imposing his particular religious views on everyone should be carefully noted by all voters. He has said Obama has "phony theology." A new low for national discourse. How could be have sunk so low as to publicly question an elected officials religious belief. Ignore the right's gobbly-gook and remember why the pilgrims came to U.s. Santorum intends to destroy religious freedom.

Then we have Romney, who believes that foreclosures should continue so that investors can buy them up and put renters in. So much for the American Dream.
Also, there's Gingrich who thinks that children should be janitors in their schools. I don't believe this would leave much time for studying, but maybe he wants them to remain janitors for the rest of their lives.
Paul believes we should completely ramp our foreign policy so as NOT to continue funding phony wars, mind our own business in the world and to limit our military to defending our shores. However, Paul has no chance of winning because his votes aren't being counted correctly.

Since he had absolute total control of House and Senate for 2 solid years, Obama has no excuse. Probably required too much time off the golf course to actually bother doing anything. BTW, the House (with R control) has passed over 30 bills, yep 30 bills, that have to do with tax reform, job creation, deficit reduction, increased oil production, health care reform to name a few, and EVERY SINGLE BILL WAS CRUSHED BY PELOSI AND REID. They would not even permit a vote to take place....yeah, Obama and his team really have the interest of the electorate at heart. Try running those stats through the web search. Bet good old Obama propaganda will never list 1 of those bills for public review. They couldn't even pass a budget in over 1000 days (even with complete House/Senate control for over 700 of those days). Pretty much tells you where the log jams are.

This comment makes no sense. When you have a super majority in both houses and cannot pass your agenda, your own party has to be voting against you. How do you account for the democrats that voted against Obama? You cannot lay that at the doorstep of Repubs. Are those democrats un-American as one poster stated regarding anyone not voting with Obama? Did you look at any of the bills (more than 30 as stated by another) that the House passed and Pelosi and Reid refused to permit votes on; both Democrats? How can you blame Repubs for the actions of Reid (D)and Pelosi (D)? Pelosi and Reid blocking votes has nothing to do with Repubs. If you occasionally watched the news, by your assessment, you would have seen some of this from the Democrats, as well.

That did not meant to put a line in place of the word democrat or republican. But no, guess that was too hard. Had to put blame on republicans while ignoring any blame towards the democrats.
Your line of "he's doing all that he can do with the power he has" is such a complete utter rubbish. That's about as brilliant as "he can't do everything overnight you know". Complete rubbish.
Since simple directions can't even be followed I now have to wade through the obvious bull and I'll take "He signed a jobs bill in 03/2010" as your answer. The rest of it is is not an answer to my question.
Oh yeah, here's a BIG BTW - BOTH parties are at fault. Your side doesn't get a free ride from blame.
Last word - you still didn't answer my question of "why now". Why didn't he do this a year or two or even right after he was elected to ask congress to get jobs created since the problem was there during Bush's term. Why now as we are coming into an election year. Why has he waited until right before he wants to be reelected to act like he cares about jobs for the people. If he really cared about the people of the country he would have done this a long time ago. Why now?

Maybe if I had asked the question and then said - Please everyone don't reply unless you blame the republicans because everything that has ever happened in this country is their fault, so please go on to bash.
Sorry a simple question was too hard. Thankfully there are other posters who answered without the blame game and just plain facts.

Personally, I thought you had laid out a very thoughtful post and agree with you. Unfortunately, there are a few on this board that seem genetically incapable of answering a direct question without an immediate desire to blame or insult. One post mentioned the bills that were passed through the House (over 30) and I went and looked it up. They were correct. Every bill passed was stopped by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. If there was a true desire to employ people out of work, some of these bills could have been passed or tweaked for betterment. Not to mention the first 2 full years Obama had majority control of House and Senate. How can anyone blame one party exclusively, as you stated, when some job bills could have been enacted back in 2009 and 2010 with super majority? If you look at the facts alone, the last 3 years makes no sense at all to your point.
